I left after 25 years working in Seattle. The Emerald City was so great once upon a time. I built a family and had so much going for me. I had to pull our kid out of school, sell the house, quit our jobs and move all the way to Texas to get as far away as possible from what going on in Seattle.
I've lived in Washington State for most of my life. What this police officer is saying is NOT a joke or over-exaggeration. In the early to late 90s, Seattle was a beautiful city with so much potential, but now people and businesses are leaving in droves because it is unsafe to carry out even the most ordinary of tasks! Upon arriving in the city and finding parking, you immediately have to worry about damage to your vehicle or having it stolen, walking around the city you have to be concerned about assault, and if you've managed to survive all that your shopping experience is a big letdown cause everything is locked up! Radical Left politics destroyed Seattle!

She is so right. I moved here in 1981 when the city was clean and there were no bums. Periodically, someone would ask for money, but that was rare. I never saw anyone living on the street. Crime was low. I used to take the bus downtown on weekends at night to hit the discos and then bus home to Capitol Hill at 2:00 or 3:00 a.m., with no worries about being robbed or attacked. Now the politicians have turned this once livable city into a third world hell hole. You're not even safe in daylight. And the bums have been glorified and money has been thrown at the problem, which only gets worse.

My husband and I moved there in 98’ as well and it was beautiful and clean just like she said, but by the time we left in 2016 it was already getting bad. There is a lot of corruption in the government there, the homeless population was getting bad and the traffic was made worse by the mayor’s decisions. Sooo glad we left when we did!

I just came back from Seattle and I can tell you it is a crap place. The drugs and homeless is a crisis and every store/ place I went to had their doors locked or security. People on the sidewalks passed out with needles still in arms, zombies and people yelling all hours of the night. What a beautiful city that is going to crap. What is seldom addressed is the fact "the residence voted for these changes" and now they reap what they have sown. My parents lived in Bellingham to their deaths, and it was a relatively nice place to live except at the end. I want no part of what those people have chosen, I left nothing there I want, and I have chosen to live in a "law and order" state and community because I value "our police officers and our culture".

My husband and I moved there in 98’ as well and it was beautiful and clean just like she said, but by the time we left in 2016 it was already getting bad. There is a lot of corruption in the government there, the homeless population was getting bad and the traffic was made worse by the mayor’s decisions. Sooo glad we left when we did!

I just came back from Seattle and I can tell you it is a crap place. The drugs and homeless is a crisis and every store/ place I went to had their doors locked or security. People on the sidewalks passed out with needles still in arms, zombies and people yelling all hours of the night. What a beautiful city that is going to crap. Oh and the 20% service charge for everything was crazy.

I'm grateful I was able to visit Seattle decades ago when it was a lovely, friendly, and safe city.
I wrote a letter to the Mayor and cops in Sickattle years ago; they're not interested in health, safety, or their city period.
What is seldom addressed is the fact "the residence voted for these changes" and now they reap what they have sown. My parents lived in Bellingham to their deaths, and it was a relatively nice place to live except at the end. I want no part of what those people have chosen, I left nothing there I want, and I have chosen to live in a "law and order" state and community because I value "our police officers and our culture".
I did the opposite. I was sick of living in an employer market. You all leaving made me king here..

I lived in a Seattle suburb for 30 years, my wife and I moved away 9 years ago…. Back in the day it was a world class city. The streets were clean, the streets were safe, the people friendly and kind….. Going back, all that has changed for the worse….. Allow officers to enforce the laws, hire prosecutors who will actually do their job (i.e. prosecute - see? it's actually in the name) those who violate the laws and sufficiently punish those who are found guilty such that that they or others won't do it again. Did I miss something?
I'd say that I'm amazed that Americans have come to tolerate abhorrent criminal behavior in the cities, but they are probably scared that they'll end up in a cell for years waiting for a trial like the Jan 6th people.
