Christ, we had a Gurkha straight up behead a Taliban commander in battle with his own Kukhri in 2011 and he got cleared so what would be wrong with a regiment of Sikhs with Kirpans? There are definitely more than 150 Sikhs in the army. I'm a Sikh reserve soldier and there are 3 in my company alone (in a not very Indian part of London). I'm very proud both of my heritage and to serve in the British Army and I'll be happy to go and do whatever I'm called upon to do for God, King & country.
When your religious expression comes in the form of “defending others from tyranny” it’s easy to see why Sikh blends well with western values. British or American. Leaders change but this is a good example of what blending the best can do for humanity

I would put Gurkhas up there above Sikhs. We still have full battalions of them fighting with us, not a slack handful like we do with Sikhs. They were a good ally during the two world wars but not really since. Its a nice tradition but no longer a fighting force.

In my region, you could go a month or three without seeing a sikh (or at least one wearing a pagri) where we have loads of expat Nepalese and retired Gurkhas well integrated into the area. They do seem to want to integrate better than other cultures, in many ways due to their treatment in India, finding more stability and welcoming here.

This is a cultural issue. Most immigrants and even their children who are born in the UK still see themselves as belonging to the country they or their parents were from. Even after 50 years immigrants still don't regard the UK as their home beyond economic reasons. There have also been more British Muslims that joined ISIS than the local armed forces. Not everyone in the Scots guard are Scottish and nor is everyone in the Welsh guard Welsh. Same for the Irish guards.
