It's admirable how companies experiment with newer designs like the RGB30. I hope this square 1:1 screen design doesn't die out. 3:26 Nice transition sound btw... and other transitions too LOL
The device has a stellar design & the 4:3 aspect ration adds to the aesthetic even gives a nostalgic vibe. Great review I'm thinking to get this in near future, You should make a review of Anbernic RG405M as well
I have this and the Pocket 2s. I enjoy this device just as much as the pocket 2s. Pretty amazing what the RGB30 can do really. I absolutely don't mind playing Dreamcast and n64 games on this device, even though I bought the 2s specifically for that purpose.
I need help with the gamecube aspect of it can you send me a copy of your sd image I cant deal with this annoy longer . mine refuses to show it even after downloading
Seems like a really solid unit for a number of older handheld systems in particular. Gameboy, gameboy color, game gear, atari lynx. Hell if you have any interest in neo geo pocket consider how much working examples of those systems sell for and that to be useable by modern standards you have to drop in a backlit IPS kit, the combo of system and kit will run you like a minimal of 300 for a pocket color. So this system for anyone curious to play those systems is a killer buy. And yeah if you like pico-8 this thing could have been built ground up to be a pico-8 machine. People would believe you if you said it was. It's pretty much perfect for it.
I'm torn between this one (great screen and UI), the RG35XX plus (GB feeling) and the retroid pocket 2S (best buttons + up to gamecube) for my 1st retro handheld.
Honestly a tough choice, if I could only choose one the Retroid Pocket 2s has android and while I have all 3 I use that the most. But I also play Android games. So if you want to play pico 8 games the PowKiddy rgb30 rocks! But for just retro games the RG35XX Plus is a very tough one to pass up for the ease of use and just retro games.
It's great system got mine a week ago. Play n64 and game boy and dreamcast the most. I hmdi it to my t.v then use a Bluetooth controller to play it on t. V
It’s also great for vertical arcade shooter since 4:3 content uses the same amount of screen as 3:4 content. Other handhelds need to be held to the side with awkward controls or they have way too small screen size.
I'd love a device like this one! I've been thinking about getting into emulation and this screen looks amazing for what I would love to play! Would be my first device!
1gb ram and the SoC's battery charging bug is a huge turnoff. Powkiddy should upgrade the ram and change this specific SoC which causes TF cards to crash and format time to time thanks to sudden power off cause battery percentage is incosistant.
Thanks for the great and quick review on this Dave, Just wondering if a 512GB SD card is compatible with this device. Having all games in one cad to carry between devices would be cool.
The screen on this is rad but for me I think android has a much larger use case. I use the rp2s more. But this is still very good for strictly emulation and has a way nicer screen.

I go 8:7 w/ integer scaling on 4:3 systems. Just a bit of edges get cut off but utilizes more of the screen.

Looking into the 405 m 🤘

The device itself looks so cool ! It gives vibes of modern handheld if the DS wasn't dual screen
It's such an odd ratio for the screen, pico 8 game are my favorite for this device.

would love to add this to my collection!

My volume doesn’t work in games I don’t know if it’s crappy jelos or the device just sucks back to miyoo mini
Great Christmas gift! 🎁

How much ram do you expect? It's only meant to run old games that do not require much
It's very reminiscent to the retroid pocket 2 and because it's plastic it should be able to take a hit and ve comfortable to hold
Even though it's a box there are no issues with ergonomics.
One of the most interesting small retro consoles.
i really love this device , never won anything before
Question: Does Sega support Saturn?
Do all the games come included already?
Great review

anyone know how this screen compares to the one on the retroid pocket 3 plus?
Cool device. Although choice of screen ratio is quite weird, but the screen resolution is superb for lower end device.
I wonder how confortable are those triggers to use, other than that it looks really cool!
They are fine, nothing to write home about.
That's ridiculously cool!
I'd love to see Final Fantasy IX playing on this? :D
Is it better than Rg35xx plus?
Decide looks really cool.
