Absolutely amazing!!! Congrats on such a major achievement. When this all began I didn’t think that you would get to any kind of roof until next year. Phenomenal as always, Dan! I think this house must’ve been overbuilt in the first place to withstand the damage and still be there and you being able to build onto it to boot! So double excitement to see it at this point. I am so happy. Kudos on the TV spot.

When you put up the roof, you should put up some sort of rain water collection. Using a temporary rain/eve trough system. It could come in a window on top floors down to building the first floor, if the collection barrel filles it will just overflow and the area is getting rain anyway. As you build up, empty the barrel and a section of the eve through, keep moving and removing as you go up, when you move to a other section move the eve through to new building section.

You put the washers and nuts on before you hammer in the bolts, then screw them down before you cut off the bolts, then back up, apply the lock-tight, then tighten down and cut off and grind the bolts. That way you don’t have to deal with messed up threads. It’s more efficient.

Great work, a couple of suggestions....if you have another section of that scaffolding, could you put it in on the far side of your existing set up? I'm worried you could trip over your tools on the platform and you'd have nothing to prevent you from going over the side. Also, whenever cutting a bolt or threaded rod I usually put the nut on first. You can then back the nut off the bolt and it will usually remove the annoying burr that gums up the threads. Maybe not so useful for this job because there's no real need to remove the nut, but good general practice that can save time and frustration!

Wonder if Dan has ever seen an Amish/Mennonite barn raising? He would find it quite interesting...quite a feat! All hands on deck. Hope he gets help with the roof. Better yet, hire professional roofers, if his funding allows. We'll see what Dan does.

    Gréât job!
To stop the bolts backing you can “tap” the thread. It’s a trick to keep keel bolts from backing off!

Been watching for about 3 months now and I’m hooked!
Pro Tip: Keep the nut on the all-thread BEFORE you cut it so you can unscrew it and prime the threads. Sometimes you won’t be able to thread the nut back in!
    See you tomorrow! **Fwoooopth**

Looking good. Just a tip, if you're hitting in all thread then screw the nut onto the end. This saves mushrooming over the end of the thread. Great work!!
