I don’t even think these are troll levels anymore. They’re escape rooms
indeed
this is not a bad idea to use as a tag instead of troll, because troll has a kindle bad background
ah ha its moist garbage.
Except escape rooms give you everything to solve the riddle beforehand. These are still troll levels because they're intended to misdirect you. You're supposed to feel dumb for dying and astounded at how everything changes according to your actions.
@@keinkanal7382 This guy (Trollburger) pops up everywhere. Yet, embarrassingly for him, unlike his pick-a-pipe nonsense; this level here *is* a true Masterpiece. Yet everyone simps to that redundant pick-a-pipe moist garbage level he made. Or maybe, just the Troll Army is that 'strong', lol
Once more Ryu's complete inability to follow the intended way breaks the entire level.
RYU's awesomeness cannot be CONTAINED!.
@@RMJ1984 you mean stupidity*
But thatsvwhy everyone loves him, right? :P
@@alanbaszczynski1374 shut the fuck up
@@alanbaszczynski1374 no he did it the way its supposed to be done, after you know about it
@@alanbaszczynski1374 I struggle to see how not falling for trolls would make him stupid. Please explain. But use small words, so that neither of us gets lost along the way.
I totally agree, my definition of what a "troll level" means has changed. I used to figure it's annoying and riddled with kaizo blocks. These are brilliant mechanism driven puzzles, at times seemingly breaking how SMM2 processes data.
Troll level is competition between creator and players, where creator has to make player fall for all traps, while thinking he is avoiding them
@@alanbaszczynski1374 The definition of a troll is far too wide to narrow it down to a particular type of level.
You have "funny" trolls that uses clever mechanics to put the player in unintended situations. CP1'ing is one of those trolls.
Then you have evil trolls who just want to watch the world burn and puts you in a softlock or other time based long winded locks that lead you nowhere and just wastes your time. Usually accompanied with excessive noise and visuals whose only purpose is to make you suffer badly for no fault of your own.
A clever troll is one where you actually THINK you are doing the right thing and end up screwing yourself over.
A shitty troll is one where you are given a choice and picking the wrong once only serves to punish you horribly for no good reason.
At the end of the day, a good troll level is one that leaves you laughing while a bad troll level leaves you disgusted with the game.
Doesn't change the fact BOTH are valid troll levels. What has changed is people's appreciation for funny troll levels rather than just putting kaizo blocks.
Yeah, it seems like troll levels now are more like a hybrid of puzzle levels that kill you if you don't follow the order of operations right.
ive been saying we need to call the good troll levels (like in this video) something different. "troll" has become a term with a negative meaning. "nobody likes a troll" right? but, clearly, we do! these are GOOD TROLLS! thats absurd. what if we called them something different?
i would think calling them "comedy" levels would be far more fitting. most people who play them, and enjoy them, end up laughing at how absurd they are. its humorous how, no matter what i think might happen, it never does. the player is wrong, every time.
and yet, they arent hard. they arent unfair. it always gives you the tools you need to beat the stage. a good level, troll or not, wants the player to succeed. a bad level will kill you, because it can. a bad level does not want the player to win.
@@alanbaszczynski1374 I'm not even sure that 'troll levels', as played by the likes of Carl, Ryu, and DGR, are really 'troll' levels. Putting a troll in a levelis putting a random kaizo block at just the right height to dunk on a player going for a jump rather than reading the creator's mind. These... Are something else, where the obvious way of bypassing an obstacle screws you, so you need to figure out another solution (with a bit of battle of wits where sometimes the obvious solution is the correct solution because it's assuming you know how this style of level operate). They're puzzle levels with added psychological trickery and comedy.
I can’t believe you skipped the entire first section of Symp’s level just because you forgot you can break blocks with a mushroom
I was thinking the same thing XD
Omg yes I was losing it lol

Cheeeeeeeeese!!!! Ryus specialty dish 🤣🤣
For Ryukahr, the "3 CP" trick here isn't 3 CPs (though that is another glitch). "CP2" is actually just CP1. The Racoon leaf atop the lava isn't a leaf, it's CP2 giving you the tail. Since you have CP2, you can now reacquire CP1. When you skip CP2, you can't see CP1 still being flagged.
CP1's room is destructible. When you go through that tunnel with the mole and bomb and spooky sound, all of that is a distraction concealing about 20 nearby bombs offscreen destroying CP1's room which you're in, which allows the semi-solids, cannons, etc to spawn in.
God bless america you beat me to it good job
brainfxcked me
You can totally see it, too - at 17:54, notice the positioning of the Mushroom Platforms, the vine, and the windows right above the Check Point.
Now go to 15:59. The Hard Blocks align perfectly with the objects in the "CP2" room.
Pssssssssst!
Spoil sport.... You should have let ryu stoke on that one for a decade or so.... That was a pretty sneaky way of CP1 ing someone, genius 🤣🤣
Carl: sends troll masterful troll levels, knowing he fell for every single troll, in an attempt to troll Ryu.
Ryu: understands hints and stumbles his way past half the trolls by accident.

I love how Ryu doesn't know how most stuff works in a troll level and is still able to beat some parts faster than Carl
He’s not trained to fear a lot of stuff that Carl is cautious of. A lot of these levels are designed to troll people who are veterans at troll levels like Carl. But Ryu is used to playing regular levels so a lot of times, he just blows right past a bunch of trolls.
Also a lot of troll levels get designed specifically for Carl (or a player like him) with lots of shinies and boxes that they know he will run straight into. Ryu approaches levels differently than Carl, a lot of time spent on super expert no skip where you just run past all of the garbage, or cheese your way through. If these same troll makers spent time designing for Ryu we would probably get some brilliant content.
The description of the first level is a masterpiece in and of itself.
I love seeing you so far outside of your wheelhouse. It's truly glorious. Troll levels are where the real creativity thrives, because the creators have to come up with weird, amazing, and sometimes ridiculous contraptions in order to make things work. In Defender's level where the launchers on tracks take you back and forth and eventually back to CP1 but it's actually the goal, he said he spent three weeks on just the ending to make it work as needed.
Another great example is the seemingly three checkpoints in the second level. The CP1 and CP2 rooms are the same room. The level creator dropped 20 bombs into the room to blow it up and change the scroll stops, to make it look like a different room when you get there. That's why the CP1 room is all destructible blocks, and the CP2 room is all mushrooms. He used the bomb blowing up the mole in the small room to hide when he did this. You actually get CP2 when you collect the leaf in the lava, which frees up CP1 to be collected again.
Nah troll levels suck mostly. There's some good, but the majority? They are terrible.

Most troll level content creators intentionally fall for troll.

@@tinahalder8416 yes most do so it's fun to see how someone would play it with a more competitive mindset.
@Earthplayer Actually Juz(I think it was Juz) played a 3 checkpoint level, it was done using the moonstomp glitch to teleport a checkpoint to the player, then the player would respawn on that same room with no checkpoint and later on in the level you'd get that same checkpoint again but in its original position.
"thanks for not deafening me with screams"
for real.
"or repeating the same 3 catch phrases over and over again."
i don't think having an oft repeated catchphrase is intrinsically bad, but it sure is easy to mess it up. for instance ceave's "well actually, it's surprisingly simple", prior to going into a fascinating mechanical explanation, works for me.
and its insane how slim the line is beween a good troll level and hot garbage but still these geniuses come up with these amazing troll levels that are actual so much fun
How can anyone dislike Ryu's content? His demeanor is just the best to watch lmao.
when he jumped around on the first piece i was like "omg will he find it instantly?"
Ryu in the second level.. you never lost CP 1. It was the same room just all Wood Blocks where blown up offscreen. That Level truly is a masterpiece.
There was no leaf... only CP 2. Thank you for allowing me to understand.
I love how every person i have seen play this level goes maybe i should go down there, or is that the way i go? And the level says "NO"

I love how your exposing your audience the essence of what a good troll level is. A good troll level is equivalent to the maker's understanding of the Mario Maker mechanics. Quite genius some of these makers.
I love so much that at the start of the first level, he had an incredulous "hmmmmmmm" that turned out to be very well founded
Did Ryu just skip a portion of the level by figuring out the actual solution because he couldn't figure out the intended solution?
I'm not sure if that's Big Brain or Carl Blind.

Dude ur reactions to these levels are so awesome. I watch alot of creators playing troll levels but there's something about both the way u play them & the look on your face. Great stuff as always
Ryu has the biggest of big brains. Watching every other streamer struggle with this one and Ryu just breeze through 90% of the trolls first try is insane to watch because he makes EVERY troll level look like a joke!
I'm sure it's been said a million times already, but you skipped a good bit at the beginning. Dumb luck or skill? Either way, you are always amazing to watch.
Ryu's getting into these trolls super late, so by now we've seen most but its still a fun experience to see his reactions
That CP1 trick in symps level is on a-whole-nother level of genius. Ryu, he disguised the CP1 room with a bunch of breakable blocks everywhere. And when you’re in the room with the mole, he drops bombs down to blow up those breakable blocks revealing semisolid mushrooms everywhere which is why it looks like a different room. Tricking you into thinking you got another checkpoint but you never did.

The first Troll level is the masterpiece. Trolls you without making you mad or frustrated, just disappointed in yourself :)
That level really was a masterpiece, damn. The amount of knowledge and effort into bending the mechanics of the game to make that level, that's crazy.
That first one was very clever. Good balance of being unfair and trolling you without being wayyyy too unfair like some of the garbage ones.
Before understanding the checkpoint part: omfg this guy is a warlock.
After understanding the chekpoint part: oh ok well... who's hungry?

Ive watched Carl, then DGR and then you playing this level just for the reactions and man its worth it! This level is completely mind blowing xD I just have no idea how that checkpoint works and its making me crazy haha
This was an amazing troll level. My compliments to the maker, and to you Ryu for beating it.
*carl* - falls for everything
*ryu* - understands every troll
This is the first time I upvote a video on troll levels. With his brain power, insight and sleuth skills, Ryu can make even a troll level look like a detective story rather than bad circus.
I love how Ryu plays troll levels completely different than Carl. But by watching both you really appreciate a good troll level that trolls both.
I really enjoy you doing troll levels lately
Man, you gotta play Twoll-light Princess, you're gonna love that level.
FYI: 'Checkpoint 2' is Checkpoint One. In the room with the mole, it is timed bomb explosions above the screen that destroy aaaall those breakable blocks. That's why the bomb explodes above the mole, to mask about 20-30 other bomb explosions.
Ryu is too peaceful and level headed for troll levels. He doesn't suffer enough lol
When you go in a door, the level is different depending on what power up you have, etc.
Fantastic.
Finally you are playing some good troll levels. Now we need a troll level tailored for you, these levels are for troll level players for sometime so the meta is a little bit different

Seen the second level played by many players, and Ryu is the only one who figured the first part out without the hint. Then again, he's also the only player to get softlocked inside a pow block. :-)

Just gotta say it the new title screen animation is amazing
😄 these troll levels get better and better every time its brilliant how they make these
I like how you skipped a chunk of the second level because you thought of not collecting the mushroom and letting it fall was a simpler solution than breaking a brick block that lead to vines.
Ryu, to bring over the explanation from Carl's video (who both asked and watched the video by the creator), the CP2 was NOT CP2, but in fact CP1. The entire block structure involved in CP1 gets exploded when you go through that tiny room with the moles and the huge bob-omb that comes out of the pipe. And there were not 3 CPs, when you collected the tanuki tail inside of that little poop chute, the power up sound masked the sound of you hitting the Checkpoint ALSO hidden there, hence why you randomly respawned there.
Honestly, once you realize that, you realize just how much of a masterpiece that set-up is. The ENTIRE section where you fly over mushrooms to collect fake-CP2 was perfectly masked in a checkerboard-pattern block structure.
Just thought you should know, in case you never found out.
Saw DGR do this first now I get the pleasure of seeing Ryu do it and trust me he was just as confused as you are Ryu and so am I still.
I love it when you play speedruns or puzzle levels because you’re insane at them
Ryu is basically too smart for troll levels. He avoids half of the trolls by being unpredictable knowing that doing what is predictable will make you fall for the trolls.
amazing level. never knew wtf was going on. trolls everywhere at any time. a troll masterpiece
Bro I remember your 100k stream playing Mario kart 8 deluxe been subbed since less than 40k keep up the good work man you are def an inspiring person
I am actually amazed by both levels. And i don't even play that game.
Ryu make sure you check out the behind the scenes for that level. He uploaded a modified version that lets you walk through the systems that change the rooms into various stuff. It's INCREDIBLE.
The way they make different power ups determind how the room look like are used with scaled up power ups. If you are small mario a mushroom spawns and move triggering stuff, if you are big Mario a stationary fire flower comes up and dont trigger anything.
That's actually genius, the cp2 room is the cp1 room but new stuff spawned because you entered it a other way. You also cant see the top of the cp unless you take the leaf wich trigger the real cp2. Then if you take the fake cp2 its actually cp1. I m amazed by this level.
“Who comes up with this stuff” satan...satan makes these my dude.

Hey Guess What?: J8F-N77-3NF
Ocarina Of Deception: FHW-TRD-0DG
i honestly think you enjoy troll levels more than the try hard levels
So how the "three checkpoint" setup worked, CP2 was actually what gave you the tail in the lava pit and CP1 and the checkpoint you fly to in the other room are in fact the same checkpoint (note the fire flower get) and he uses bombs to change the CP1 room to look different. In the room with the mole, the sound effect and first bomb blast in the room are to cover the sound of the explosions setting up the fake CP2 room.
The creator told Carl he dropped like 30 Big Bombs to Destroy the whole room i believe ^^
I watched 2 others play the level and just now saw something. I believe that in the fake cp 2 room it is actually saying that cp 2 is where the hint is. Because it says cp 2 but has arrows to the hint where you pick up the leaf. If that is what the creator intended it to be it is even more brilliant than I thought before.
And the casual skip of a fourthish of the level was amazing lol
it's great because normally people who stick to the same content lose traction but you are genuinely so entertaining you can play SMM for years and I still always come back. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!
Ryu figured this out a lot faster than larl did. My mans carl didn't get out of the first room for like 30 minutes
Who eles saw DGR play this level earlier? And then of course Ryu completely cheeses it... I don't own the game but I thoroughly enjoy watching gameplay of it. I have been watching for a while Ryu, keep up the good work bro.
Even the smarter ones with cheese-filled brains are sometimes Carlblind. Gread vid. I'm so sad he didn't seem to recognize any of the troll level references in that last one T_T
What you wanna do is... go in the pipe-**NOPE!**
What you wanna do is hit the switch... and wai-**NOPE!**
What you thought was CP2, was CP1, and CP2 is where you got the tail. The bomb room before the spike ball room makes all the blocks at CP1 disappear, hence why you thought it was a different checkpoint.
I watched Dave and Carl play this already, that's how I know :).
It's easy to get inside Carl's head. He ultimately takes things slow and cautiously and sort of savors the moment. Carl doesn't think "how do I beat the level?" Carl thinks "how am I gonna be trolled?"
We need troll levels that are more tailored to Ryu's mindset because it's basically the complete opposite of Carl's.
Yeah ge seeks them out, aslo, 13 year old acc??
That he thought of letting the mushroom drop before breaking a block is mindblowing
