The child would be 100% guaranteed a female, of course, but it would be the most scientific explanation without dragging Maria's reputation through the mud. Not to mention there have been several instances in nature of (admittedly most, if not all, reptiles) females having offspring without a male partner. But hey, that's just a theory, a RELIGION THEORY!
