    I like the idea, but it’s going to be hard to have it come off as charming and not obnoxious like this one. Maybe that’s what your going for like the original Cribs, but I hope not.
    Also, I’m probably not alone, but I’m not at all interested in people’s kitchens or vehicles unless they have something really interesting converted into a pin hauler.

    • @FlipNOutPinball
      @FlipNOutPinball  5 лет назад +7

      Bob trying to create something for many people to enjoy. Loud on some episodes, insightful and educational on others. The tone was my call. Part of the charm is seeing silly, outlandish stuff and poking fun at society’s tone of entertainment. We have all types of collectors and their toys on future episodes. But hopefully all of the episodes evoke emotion regardless and showcase different collectors, that’s our aim.

    I also like the idea and see what you tried here, looking at MTV Cribs just once or twice. But I do think the balance between satire and just being anoyed is very thin. I really liked the blooper at the end, maybe that showed the real Mr. Hoeper. I do not think pinball needs more attitude, I think we need to show the real people in this hobby. So looking forward to the next show.

    Is it just me (probably is), or has the last couple of months set pinball back decades?
    From playfield issues that distributors have told buyers to "suck it up", to extremely over-priced games (Elivira), to this attempt at frat boy dochebaggery.

    • @bigbusa1

      I get it but the whole idea of this "bit" is to make it like mtv cribs... which was rich, obnoxious a-holes showing off how wealthy they are and how much more stuff they have than us. This guy was perfect for that because I don't think many could pull that 90's satire off without laughing over and over. Pinball people are cool, laid back people mostly. We mostly don't brag about our games, our house too much or our vehicles. When we see someone doing that, it makes our skin crawl... and this was meant to do that! Winner!

    I can appreciate the intent, edits and the videography, all good. I think the problem I have with the video is, no one knows who this guy is.. Instead of coming off as humorous, it's coming off as braggadocios and cringe(y). I'm sure if you know him personally, this is not his true character (let's hope not), and the contextual contrast would make it funny, but to an outsider, the joke is lost. The slant of Cribs was that of someone famous and well known in which the fun was taking a peek behind the door and seeing was was unobtainable to many if not most, but the cringe attitude was forgiven as you as a viewer were more than likely a fan or supporter of their art or fame contribution. If this series is truly aimed at the masses bringing them to the hobby, the idea that this blinged out, baller, bro lifestyle is what is necessary or even desirable, I think will turn away more than it turns on. Future installments could be more educational with personal stories and interviews behind the pins and less, "yo, check my stuff and whips, here's my bank of pins, word!" ... I liked when he was talking about the bowler and started getting into some specifics about the pins...more of that!

    OK, so let me chime in here. As Zach has said, this is satire as I can best perform, am I an actor??? Hell fuckin no. Just a guy who has done ok by carrying three jobs in the past for years....NOT ANY MORE, I AM DONE WITH THAT SHIT! Plowing snow late hours, part time real estate sales and running restaurants, not the easiest gigs. It was meant to be blown out of proportion and try to be humorous at times. Shit...some takes were 3 or 4 times. Clint Eastwood style is no more than 3 takes and use what you got, that's how we went. I knew going into this that it would probably piss some people off, guess what, you watched it. I have been in this hobby for over 10 years, buying player quality machines and flipping them for profit and or upgrades. I have had many of the classics over the years but as anything, they get old dull and repetitive where a lot of the new titles with ever changing code just keep my interest longer. I have some classics to help mix it up. I sold most of my games off about 5 years ago and took the profits to put the bar in, which I did the work myself. I was down to just two games then and kept the best ones. I decided then to build the nicest collection I could moving forward. Did I buy them all new? Nope, some were bought at the right time in the market when the code was still bare so I saved some bucks. Now I am just about out of space, I play every one of those games quite often, I would have a hard time parting with any of them. I read someone asked if I am a good player, yea...I would say I know a thing or two. I have never played in a tournament so you will not find me ranked, would like to but there are not 30 hours in any of my days. BRICKSHOT!! ….To those that think I am a DB, I say good day sir and kindly go fuck yourself. If you couldn't tell this was an act and being over amplified, you really need to lighten up and go adopt a dog or cat that needs some love.

    Nice job Zach. The tone evoked the same feeling I got when watching the original run of Cribs. Kind of showboating but a little humbleness would be welcome in future installments. Don't really need to see the cars though. Would be cool to hear a couple things that got them interested in pinball and especially collecting, if they rotate games frequently, do they only buy new or in like new condition. I guess a little more insight into the collector would be welcome.
    The dude has a great collection that all look very well maintained and made me a tad jealous! Made me want to just hang out over there, drink a beer and play some pinball.
    Keep up the good work my friend!

    This is why i cant play pinball anymore THE RICH OWN THEM ALL!

    • @sohchx
      @sohchx 5 лет назад +1

      I used to think the same, that pinball could only be owned by the rich. It just simply isn't true. Anyone can become an owner and it's simple by just starting from the ground up. You may not be able to start with the latest and greatest but you can get a low end decent game for a low price, then save up some money, sell that game for a possible profit, buy a better game than the previous one and just repeat the process. Its basically like flipping cars or houses. I'm not rich at all and have been in the hobby for almost 20 years. Started by collecting arcade games, restoring and then flipping them for better ones. Eventually I got to where I could afford my first pin and then did the same thing. I am now the proud owner of 19 arcade games and 22 pinballs.

    He has money to blow, and he acts like a blow hard. whewww, . Plus he only has 2 out of 21 that are pure gold. He must just buy the newer stuff that anyone can get.. For instance, wheres his Twilight Zone, or Indy Jones. His collection is weak at best in my opinion. Wasted all that money on a Ford Excursion??? Should have bought better pins..Just my $.02

      His lineup is great!! Just because he doesn't have a cookie cutter style lineup with all of the relentlessly overhyped and overrated titles that everyone "thinks" or "expects" him to have, or a carbon copy of the Pinside top 5-10 doesn't make him any less of a collector. He has what "HE" likes and that's what matters. It should never be about what titles others expect or want you to have. My collection is the same as his, so to you it would probably be "weak" too and that's fine. No one needs to own the greatest titles of all time to enjoy pinball.

      Anyone who has been in this hobby for 10 years or more is completely burned out on Twilight Zone, Indy, Addams, and most of the great pins of the 90’s. I’ve had them all, but I really enjoy the new product that’s available today. Anyone with cash can buy any game from any era.
