Starting at 5:18 you can see some of the Chicago 1933 World's Fair houses that were brought to Beverly Shores by barge. There is the pink "Florida Tropical House" at 5:20; at 5:40 you can see the "House of Tomorrow" at the upper left and the Armco-Ferro house at upper center (both across the street); and the Rostone house at the right at 5:41.
Jim Schwartz ...The House of Tomorrow, ahh maybe but not much longer than that.
what are these placea why are they a landmark?
Yeah I hope they put it on a barge and move it again
@@bendaaa69 because they were in the world's Fair in Chicago and after the world's Fair they brought them to Indiana

Was told as a young man never build near water, whether it be the ocean, lake or river. The old man said all you have to look at is the Grand Canyon all done by water.
No paul bunyan did that with his axe
.....yep. And my Dad told me when I was 6yo, never buy a house on the low side of the road. I never did, it was good advice.
People just don't realize that "lake front" can be just as violent and eroding as "ocean front".
That frightening roar is a warning served out to those living on the edge of the sea to move away to safer environs or else watch all of it get flattened down in its path. One would be a fool to be staying this close even though all those mansions villas and bungalows and the sea wall protecting them seem safe at this point to their owners but the footage is proof enough how nature is capable of wreaking havoc of such mammoth proportions that no human effort will succeed in standing up to it .
Thank you so much for showing up cloth the ground,it’s hard to tell anything from up where we’ve seen so far ,awesome footage 😊
wow that is crazy. Really amazing footage :) Stay safe and have a wonderful evening.
This reminds me of the 1986 season when all those houses fell into the lake and when they decided to tear down The Red Lantern cuz of the rising lake water and bad erosion.
My Dad was a chef at the Red Lantern back in it's popular days. There were a lot of homes on lake side of Beverly Drive that got lost to the erosion.
Nice expensive houses that are basically worth absolutely nothing at this point.
Living by the sea appeals to most everyone. However, humanity tends to forget the slow but inexorable progess of the sea and the power of nature in general.
Amazing video my drone brother. Hey man what drone did you use for the flight? Wow the storm looks like it was very bad brother. Please be careful and take care of yourself and love ❤️ ones. As always I enjoy your videos man. Keep up the good work. Nicely done and good job. God bless and stay safe. Have a great evening Captain 👨✈️. Thanks for all you do and please keep flying Z
Fascinating footage. I’ve always lived in the southwest, desert area. Never seen such fury. I feel bad for the beautiful homes. Old money apparently.
I noticed that even the houses set back on the raised lots are evidencing erosion beneath them. This is a widespread problem, many states are reporting this. I don’t know what will happen to all the people, in cases like this, whose house is their primary or only real asset. All those homes are at risk right now, eventually they will all crumble along with that eroding ground. Sad. I feel bad for them. Imagine driving home on that gloomy day, wondering if it’s the last time your only road in and out will actually be there...
Awesome footage , from South Africa
Omg no way! I'm gonna have to go check it out sometime
That's crazy. Are you going north to south? Kinda east to west?
How long to the houses on the hill have before they turn into houseboats?
So sad. I miss our beaches. Seeing it like this is shocking. All this hard work by so many to stop it makes me hopeful. #SaveOurBeach 😔
Everyone who thinks they want waterfront property should have to watch this. 😵💫
This beach is not on a coast, this beach is located in the stare of Indiana on Lake Michigan.
But what a cool place to live. Go to sleep with the sound of the surf and the salty air. On the coast I put my shoes under the bed next day all moldy
La folie des hommes
I CANNOT believe this! Heartbreaking! How many times I drove down that road, feeling like I was so privileged to be able to have access to such a beautiful area. WHY isn't the federal government stepping in? Something MUST be done!
Don’t chose to live near the lake. You can’t stop Mother Nature no matter how much dead presidents you have
It is not wise to build a home on the waterfront. Off of the national lakeshore, where MT. Baldy is, only a mile away from there, there were homes that go out for close to a mile. The foundations' remnants still exist underwater, off of the coast. That happened when the piers were constructed at the beginning of the 20th century, and, it caused a retrograde, backlashing movement of the tides, that swept hundreds of homes into the lake...rather, the lake came ashore. It has been happening there in this dynamic for over 100 years. AND, the lake has proceeded and receded many times in the last 2,000 years, and, was even present many lies south of this point, where route 30 is today, and, also, Ridge, Road. In addition, prior to 12,000 years ago, 14,000 years ago, the oceans of the entire earth were about 400 feet lower, and, glaciers covered most of north america and Europe. This is NOTHING new. One should not build a residential building on a large waterway, and, if they DO, they should EXPECT this to happen.
SEBASTION HAWK - do you know anything about the IJC International Joint Commission , why don’t they keep the lake levels lower ?
Thousands of years.
Sure, but there are homes right on the lake that have been there for over 100 years, and still standing, with proper seawalls in front. Not a bad run, and well worth the investment. It has been worse than in recent memory lately, with the high lake level and more energetic storms than is typical. It's the worst I've seen it in my 60 years of observation.
I used to work at Bethlehem Steel and live in Chesterton.
It is nice to sleep in the sound of the waves, but in such areas you have to live only in a tent or caravan.
Oh no that Pink House is too close to the water!!🥺
There is some other houses a little further/ away from shores and they are on market for sale (more than 1 year) still unsold.. not worth it anymore.
加泥油在岸边得吗?水都冲洗不走的泥油啊?
Those home owners were told many time that this would happen. A house built on sand next to a lake is not a good idea. Those people are stupid.
A Lake !!!?

Watch the Documentary- Shifting Sands**
Thank you so much
😲wow
The video doesn't say where and when it happens
it's built on sand. no bedrock . sorry kids. its a sand dune with a forest on top...
so bring more rocks or cement it all do borders
Seeluft soll sehr gesund sein 🙂
2:30 those homes will be gone before the decade is out.
- Maybe we need to build breakwaters?
- No, I don't think so
waves: it's free real estate
1:11 wonder why that lot is so far out ? Rocks dumped 10 , 20 years before anyone else ?
IJC controls lake levels
Don't these folks have flood insurance ?
Might be time to move
Oh no, those garbage cans blew down! Oh, and the road is in the water.
JB MUST HAVE DONE A BELLY FLOP INTO THE LAKE
You need rocks, iron rods, concrete and caterpillars! i
Let's build a house on the beach, then let's be disappointed when nature is nature...
My money is on Ma Nature!!!
I cant believe the ignorance of people living right on the shoreline of such an angry body of water.
KingMrBigE , Didn't Obama just by a sea level estate on Martha's vineyard ?
Really ?
Instead of just spending money on rocks they should invest in wave power generators
Poor people when those houses cant be worth much. And in the coming decades big cities around the world close to oceans will get flooded.
IJC International Joint Commission , controls lake levels
Mother nature teach you that men are not supposed to reside close to the sea feet,so this is a warning, get away before it's too late
уезжать оттуда надо, да поскорее, не дожидаясь очередного катаклизма .
Another few years and they'll be able to fish from their bedroom windows.
It's sad knowing that your expensive home is now worthless. But I don't feel sorry for you. You chose to live there.
And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. Matt 7:26 📖
Houses don't belong there.
This is what happens when idiots build to close to the big lakes!
Yup. Lakes are meant to enjoy and pass by. Not try to own them by building homes on them. Water and nature always takes it back!
Don't be a fool to manipulate mother nature.
