Hi Jon. I’m rediscovering your wonderful work. This is as usual so inspiring. Not just the art work but the whole presentation. Your skill is masterful. Thank you.
Hey Smoothie you are such an amazing artist I love your work started to draw once again after many years. your tricks are very helpful for improving my drawings long way to to go now thank you
Brilliant. Best comment ... "enjoy the time sketching." The speed drawing is most helpful, like quite a lot. Calm voice that does not interfere, instructions are not intrusive and every tip is duly noted. Background in landscape photography truly helps me. Thank You !!!!
Really outstanding! From how you layout the initial shadow to picking out the indications and going with them. Your talent and tips a very, very helpful. Thank you!
really liked these videos. Drawing is definitely my weak point so I will have a go at this method. I also like the watercolour and pencil sketches. younger such a delicate effect. Thanks for sharing.
+RixCanDoit Thanks, you're an amazing artist too, I've seen your drawings they are superb, you got some great techniques on the beard demo, thanks for the comment Rix, much appreciated!
you make it look so easy. your work is lovely. I appreciate these demos. I've been practicing with your videos and have seen some improvement in my drawings. thankyou.
I was so moved by this i signed in and subscribed you i have been watching youtube videos for a long time now i have learned so many things, but however i never subscribed anyone, this is the first art channel i am subscribing ,keep up the good work ,and good luck
This is not as easy as it looks, as always I'm in awe at your talent. I have so much to learn from you and I'm glad that I'm able to. This is another one this week that will be consigned to a drawer marked failures lol at present I can't envisage being able to do anything right again but onwards and hopefully upwards
Definitely upwards Margaret!!! we all have a collection of failed drawings and paintings, i certainly do, and they were the ones i learnt the most from, each fail is a steppingstone to success, try not to feel bad about them, feel positive that you're trying, and you will succeed, I honestly think we learnt more from our failed drawings if we make the necessary corrections in the next one. sometimes its not just about learning what to, but learning what not to do is equally important.
smoothie77 I agree with you there totally, I know what went wrong with the watercolour, apart from the obvious trying to run before I could walk but I have learnt from that I know what mistakes I made and will wait till you do something to see in more detail how to !. This one learning how how to use the eraser as a drawing tool that comes with practice I think, that was the main thing I couldn't master also trying to remember that it's not a real time video so I need to persevere more expecting it to be pretty terrible in the beginning until it all comes together. Having said all that it's better to try than not to do anything at all. Thank you for always being so kind x
For me there's somthing so very romantic about a waterfall so thanks for including one in your lovely drawing , perfectly correct about the commercial pre prept graphite powder, there is no mention as to the grade of it on the container, I do use it but like you l find it much better to "scrap" my own from a good quality graphite stick....
+Maxine Fewster I like waterfalls too, they make superb features in drawings, and in real life they are so nice to look at and listen too, Its strange that commercial graphite isn't graded, I would of thought it would be more sellable if the customer knew the tonal value of it, and had a range of various grades to choose from.
Wow that's beautiful drawing mate. Thanks for sharing and yes it was very helpful. It's inspired me to try that technique. I've used a technique similar to that, rubbing graphite powder from end of pencil onto paper, but mainly to lift out clouds etc. I'll msg you again once I've finished another drawing mate. Thanks again :) Edit: Just purchased 2pack of those Derwent Pencil Erasers. Can't wait to use them, so I can finally do precise and minute highlights lol.
I was wondering if you could do a winter scene. I have been working on one for a friend and need to see some of your techniques for snow, snow laden trees ad bare trees.
thnaks for all your beautiful tutorial videos. I enjoyed them, its just a joy to watch how you work and i learned a lot from it for my own doing. And also got much inspiration out of them. Here is a question: When you finished a drawing, how do you protect them. Do you put them just behind glas or do you spray them with fixativ? My expirience with those sprays is, that some of the brilliance of the drawing gets lost. Do you have a better method?
You're welcome, thanks for the kind words, its great the hear you're getting inspired from my videos. I have used fixative in the past but now I tend not to, reason being, I have had paper buckle and warp, I always feel that framing drawings is the best way to keep them safe, most of my drawings are done using A4 paper so I place them in inside those A4 clear plastic covers that can be bought from stationary shops, I find they protect them well, as long as you don't keep taking them in and out, they should stay safe and protected until they get framed.
Hey smoothie, I used to draw a bit and now I am trying to get back into it. Your videos are really great. I have a question. What kind of eraser pencil is that you are using for the highlights and such? I would love to use one but I am having trouble locating one, so I will begin searching online. Thanks. I am looking forward to more videos.
I could watch you draw for days............but that would cut into my own sketching time. I'm wondering if you went to school or did you just learn these techniques on your own?
Hi Patricia, I never went to art school or anything like that, I'm completely self -taught. I use to watch lots of art DVDs and read lots of art books which helped a lot, and of course...lots of practice :)
A very nice picture. Is the drawing somewhere, or your imagination. As much as i try, I could never draw like that. Maybe cos I'm left handed. Though my brother was and he could draw.
fantastic, amazing skills you have there
Super fantastic
I really enjoy your videos... They've helped be a little bit more challenging

My sentiments excatly :)
Do you use Fixative spray to settle the drawing when you are finished with the painting?
😊😊👍
Oh WOW!

+smoothie77 yw mate. I'd definitely buy a print of that if i had the money...love it.
I was wondering if you could do a winter scene. I have been working on one for a friend and need to see some of your techniques for snow, snow laden trees ad bare trees.
Great work!
+Sergey Lebedev Thank you.
Beautiful scene. Do you sign your work? Thanks for sharing.
+TheWindGinProject Thanks, yes I always sign my work.
Such wonderful work again Smoothie. You could take a total amateur and turn them into pro😉
+Agui007 Wow, thanks for that! it would be great if I could do that, hopefully viewers are getting something from my demos :)
hi smoothie, do you need to put anything on a graphite/pencil drawing to stop it from smudging or fading?
Debbie you can buy a spray called fixative I think and that’ll help with the smudging.

Талантище.!!!!
Great work!!! Was a white pastel pencil used to create foliage ?
+Jia Cheng Thanks, it was a pencil eraser I used for the foliage.
Very good.
Thank you Marthie !
All of your drawings are very great. What is that pencil looking thing you use to create white lines or is it just an eraser?
Thanks, yes its an eraser pencil.
ahhh i never heard of that before! thank you!
a question just for fun if you where suck on a isalnd and you only had two pencils of choise what would they be?
Haha good question, I think I would choose the Koh-i-noor HB woodless pencil and a Derwent 4B pencil. what would you choose?
Hey smoothie,
I used to draw a bit and now I am trying to get back into it. Your videos are really great. I have a question. What kind of eraser pencil is that you are using for the highlights and such? I would love to use one but I am having trouble locating one, so I will begin searching online. Thanks. I am looking forward to more videos.
Hi Kurtis, the pencil eraser I'm using in this video is made by Derwent, I've recently bought one made by Koh-I-Noor that works just as well.

My dream is to Beas good as this
I like your drawing but I can barely hear you
Nice, but can you speak up a bit? :)
The sound of your voice is very low.
Very nice, but...Wish you wouldn't whisper.
