Yep, it definitely holds some big bulls 😀. And there's always ice on trips at this times of the year (April) - but it's just good to get out after a long winter. 😃
There's some beautiful bows in that system. Did a float trip with a guide that specialized on a major tributary who had a client that caught an 18.5" rainbow the year before I went. When we were floating, he all of a sudden yelled "set the hook". He had seen the bow turn mid river and chase down my golden stonefly nymph. I lost the fish but it damn near doubled my 7wt over. Strong, healthy fish.
Thanks for sharing Aaron! The Atha-B is definitely an under-rated fishery. I think what keeps most people away is that it seems inaccessible and intimidating to many. Lucky you living in Hinton!
Yep, I agree. One of favourite things about fishing the Athabasca (and a number of other rivers around here) is the difficulty to getting to some of the spots. Also, the window for really hot fishing is small. On this trip we were about a week early, because we had a late spring. Amazing time though, regardless of the fishing. 🙂
Perhaps the reason the regulations are the way they are, is because of those who seem to think fishing is just about eating them. The regs are what they are to protect the fish populations, which are rapidly declining. If fishing is something you enjoy, maybe you should think about supporting that.
Great video, thanks for the inspiration 👍🏻
That river is big enough that it looks like it could hold some giant Bulls. Looks like it was a great trip, even snow on the ground.

Almost caught a 2 foot long bully trout at the sixth bridge in Jasper! It has GINORMOUS bulls in there!

It's a beautiful river. Haven't fished it before. Loved this video. Thanks for putting it together
Thanks! It's one of my favourite rivers.

This video had me wondering...looks like there are a few missing vids from your upload list. Hope things are ok...
Yep, its been about a year now. But Jolene is no longer in the picture 😞
Sorry to hear that Aaron. Keep enjoying the outdoors.
If they ever let us keep a few fish again, I will return to the system. Ridiculous regulations.
Oh...thanks for the video!

Just guessig, but did you put in at the Emerson rd. And take out at the N. Rd?
No, but I’d like to do that this year. 😊
