The place we stayed in Kanazawa is called Kurohoro Machiya House!! Such a beautiful place, highly recommend staying there during your trip to Kanazawa❤
thank you for naming the place you stayed in. It was so beautiful. I went to these 3 places and yet I want to get back right now!! Beautiful video Sharla!
Coincidentally I visited Kenroku-en in Kanazawa today. Beautiful garden :-) But I didn’t see too much of the city because I decided to return to Toyama early and rest up a bit because I caught a little cold in Togakushi. Your video is thrice appreciated, as I can now see the rest of Kanazawa, and also Takayama while recuperating in my hotel room.
"You've been demoted to boyfriend" - that explains the title 😂 I love your travel videos, but they always make me want to try the food so much, everything looks so good 😭💕
I've been watching both you and Chris for ten years, and I always thought you both had good chemistry. Congratulations on your engagement. Thank you for giving us a glimpse of your journeys through Japan. Someday I hope to wrangle my wife into a Japanese adventure.
@@jensebu78 I don't know about that. In the first Journey Across Japan, during Sharla's leg of the journey, Chris mentioned Sharla was, "The best view in Japan." I'm paraphrasing of course, but that was when I began to have romantic suspicions.
@@LynxieDove Not sure if it's the same one but right after I finished this video I had a video recommended from The Japan Reporter. From what I could tell skimming it really quick it just spoke about Chris and not Sharla, but it was a very positive video :)
I just came back from a trip there and Takayama was for sure the highlight of my trip, it was absolutely beautiful and nice to be in an area not surrounded by department stores and highrise buildings. Also highly recommend first time visitors to Kanazawa to make sure you see Kenrokuen Garden it's so beautiful! if you also don't make it to Shirakawago, an alternative is the Hida Folk village in Takayama, where they have re-located a bunch of historic buildings from the area and created essentially an open-air museum / village. It was absolutely stunning with the autumn colours, and a walkable distance or short bus ride from the main town!
I went to Takayama and Shirakawago last month and I am punching air because I did not know about the house of pudding! Also did not have time to check out the retro museum. It is always great to see your travels in Japan and thanks for showing the hidden treasures you find.
I have watched your videos for a few years now and this is my first comment lol. I really missed you uploading regularly. So glad you’re back and hope you are still feeling better.
Sharla!! Glad to see you and Chris enjoying yourself (and that you're able to drag him along on peaceful trips like this instead of his usual shenanigans with Natsuki, Ryotaro, Conner and Joey! xD) Both pairs of sunglasses look good on you but the Ottoto Mexicali look better imho! What I loved most about the machiya house is that circular doorway in the living room. I can see why you liked sitting there looking out into the garden while sipping your drink.
thank you for giving us a glimpse into these beautiful areas around central Japan. It's so refreshing to see and gives me lots of inspiration for my next trip to Japan. Autumn in Japan is underrated 🍁
Absolutely LOVED this vlog! One of my favorite things to do when I lived in Japan was venture outside of Tokyo and into the countryside! I went to a location that was really similar to Shirakawago, but it was closer to Fuji-San called Saiko Iyashi-no Sato Nenba and this video made me feel very natsukashi! Thanks for another amazing video and hope you continue to feel more on the mend!
You guys are so cute together. Congratulations on the engagement! You both seem so content and comfortable. Makes me want no visit Japan. Appreciate the ability to live vicariously!
I love the idea of koi as the best friends ever, an emblematic icon, because they can be between fifteen to eighty years old if not more. Their longevity is truly amazing.
Ahh!! Great video Sharla! Loved seeing all the scenery in Japan outside of the cities occasionally! I'm from mostly rural parts of the US so it always reminds me of home! Loved having Chris along too!
I really like the Odorico frames, they have a stylishly "bookish" about them, they're aesthetic AF. The Mexicali one's nice too, but in my humble opinion they just look like nice tasteful shades. The Odorico frames have personality :3
Thank you for taking us with you on this beautiful trip. I really enjoyed watching this video. Of course, I love all your content but these kind of travel vlogs are really my favorites. It got everything - food, scenery, accommodation and a tiny bit of Japanese conversation (I really like those). Watching this just feels so cozy and makes me miss Japan so much.
This is awesome, I'm hoping to get to Japan again in February/March and I'm intent on going to Nagano, Toyama, and Kanazawa. This is perfect for my planning. Straight away; Kirari is going on the list.
All these places look so lovely, and not loaded with tourists! I found Kyoto to be very interesting and I wish I could have seen ALL the things, but alas, we were there for only a day and it was super crowded (pre-Covid). All of these towns look beautiful and interesting, and the fall colors are so gorgeous! I really enjoyed watching this! And that street food - everything looked so good!
Cat-eye fits your facial frame, nicely. The first pair had a nice color/finish. I would recommend the same color and finish from the first pair but on the second pair. They would match perfectly with your hair and fair skin.
Great to have you back Sharla! I finally have my trip booked to Japan for next year, this will be my second time. I am so excited to return after 8 years. I will be visiting Kanazawa and Takayama, hopefully I can squeeze Shirakawago into the trip too. Thank you for sharing awesome places to stay at and foods to try.
I would love to see a video about collecting stamps in Japan. Where to find them or how to ask for where they are. Your favourite ones in your collection.
Love that Goemon bath lol My grandma's house in Osaka looks like that. The only thing is it gets brutally cold during winter, and tatami matless is a nightmare to maintain
Great video Sharla! It's always nice to see you and Chris together in videos. Really nice tip about the eki stamps! I'm looking forward to collecting them on my trip next year.. The place you were staying at looked lovely. I am always impressed by how well the Japanese seem to make use of their spaces, finding ways to bring peace and tranquillity to even some of the most small and or unsuspecting places. OH! 14:36 Chris got the DJI Pocket 3!? I just got one of those myself, FANTASTIC little camera! Have fun with it Chris!
I’ve watched this blog three times already today. I’m living vicariously through you and Chris lol. Going to Japan after I beat the big C is my motivation.

Great to see you guys traveling again. The Machiya is beautiful. I want one too. Love the sweatshirt design, Sharla, and the black sunglasses. I so hope to get back to Japan one day. Cheers, Muffy from Oz.
