Ive got one of these old m6800 32 gb ram , gtx 980x 8gb and roughly 4 tb ssd raid 0 It still works flawlessly
Love em. They are great units.
My son had his drink beside mine, and my granddaughter knocked it over and well.
Took it apart, dried everything up, gave the motherboard an alcohol bath, and put it back together.
Took all weekend, and the keyboard does not work.
So, I have a low-profile external keyboard connected to it, and the actual keyboard was removed.
And yes, I've bought 2 other keyboards, and nothing works. So, I think that the keyboard area got fried when the drink, which was a sugar cool-aid drink, spilled on it.
Either way, it does not leave the office now.
I have two extra monitors connected to it to give three total through the base.
Still love this system.
Thank you for your Video, Its very Clear Ivegot oneof these old M6800/32Ram/SSD 1TB.
Thank you for your video. It's very clear and I can feel the passion! I bought M6800 back in Aug 2014 and only have two HDD. After almost 6 years I really need to upgrade to SSD to work from home. My windows experience score is 5.9 for those HDDs. What a shame...... I am wondering if I will replace both of my HDD to SSD, how can I keep the current system and data, etc.
You can also get a third SSD with the MSATA slot (as seen in the video, it's toward the top of the machine close to you). I have one with a 500GB MSATA SSD for my main, then two other SSD/HD's as storage.
@@DarkEffectsStudios If you look at 10:13 ... look over at the fan on the right side of the screen, then go immediately to the left. There's a dark rectangle with a single empty screw hole and a connector facing the back of the machine -- that's where the mSATA would be connected.
@@AuditoryStorytelling an also use use the wwan card slot. fits a m.2 2240 size
@@JAYEKAZE The WWAN card slot is mPCIe, not M.2. It also won't take an SSD as it's not a true mPCIe slot, nor a combo mPCIe/mSATA slot.
You made a good choice for a new workstation laptop
I might be getting one of these used. It's old but is still the "most powerful" computer I will have owned. What do you think about getting a docking port? I think it might be useful, but I'm concerned about the tilt it makes it sit at, do you think it's harder on HDD when they're not vertical or horizontal?
Get the docking station. I have it, and it is a lifesaver.
The tilt is nothing, it is a slight incline, and there is no issue with hardware using it.
Both together is a good investment.
I also have 20GB Ram and changed the graphics card, which I think I might have done a video on it, do not remember.
Enjoy.
Post back when you get it and let us know what you think of it.
Get the MSATA card, let that be your boot drive.
My MSATA is my A, B, C.
C - Boot
A - Adobe programs and some projects
B - Profile drive.
Oh, one last thing.
It correctly is not compatible with Windows 11.
Shouldn't you wear an anti-static bracelet when doing this kind of thing?
Wish I could buy one..
I have dellm6800 with amd firepro 6100 graphic and Windows 10 sometimes not detect driver. What do you suggest?
Hey, I have a Dell Precision M6500, I purchased a Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB mSATA Internal SSD (MZ-M6E1T0BW). I can't get the computer to recognize it. Do you think it'll work?
Hey, I have an M6500 with an mSATA (same model, but the 500GB version) and mine recognized it. Only (with the M6500) it won't work if you try to use the mSATA as you main OS drive. Only if you're using it as storage.
