- "Moonlight Sonata: Deafness In Three Movements," directed by Irene Brodsky, can be considered as a spiritual sequel of sorts to Brodsky's 2007 award-winning documentary,"Hear and Now." At its core, "Moonlight Sonata: Deafness In Three Movements" is a story about love, family and finding your voice. Filmmaker Irene Taylor Brodsky has been surrounded by deafness her entire life: Brodsky’s parents are deaf and her oldest child, Jonas, lost his hearing at the age of 4. While Jonas can hear now with the help of cochlear implants, the documentary chronicles her son’s journey to learn to play Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata," a piece the composer wrote while he was losing his hearing.

This’s amazing and I am deaf too
I do music with playing cello
My nephew was born deaf. He is in his early 20s now and is doing very well at work and life. I rarely communicate with him because I didn’t know or took time to learn ASL. I was always “busy doing my own things”.
This documentary was one of a few films that inspired me so much so I decided to sign up an ASL course. I wanted to talk to my nephew and learn more about his life.
