It's always so interesting to hear about peoples backgrounds and how they got to where they are now

A lot of overlap lol, pretty spot on with timeline and everything. About 50% of the stepping stones, I should bounce around more. I'm currently in the part where I haven't made the step away from exclusively computer/coding-based work (last months of PhD it seems). RIP on the COVID-related roadblocks, I needed some epigenetic data but they postponed popping the tubes. Huge, huge props on your channel and ofc the research too. All the best :)

Thank you for sharing! This is my 3rd year working on a project and nothing works yet lol. I hope this year is the year I finally get something right!

    Great video!
Really interesting to hear, specially when I myself am still trying to decide which area of computer science to focus on.

That was very interesting to hear! I'm beginning my journey now, so it's always inspiring to learn how other people got into their careers ☺️

Hi Jordan! This is also my dream field to work in, and I was curious - I'll probably be getting my BS in neuroscience and biotechnology, though regret not picking a more computational major ie. EE or CS looking back. I taught myself a lot of programming needed to work in CV projects and general ML and benchside lab knowledge, but I think the next step would be to get a Masters or PhD. Is it completely possible for me to pursue one in CS, and still work with BCIs and other super cool neurotech? Great work on your videos, always a fan! :)

If you have time, I’d love to learn more about how the cell 3D printer actually works.

Your life experience is very different from mine.
In my case, I got into programming and similar mostly on my own (due mostly to personal nerdiness).
School involvement: none (not much "academic" in high-school, but they did have closing metal gates, checkpoints + guards, and guards wandering the halls with dogs; Note: this was a "normal" high-school; but I was living in an area that was mostly a large expanse of mobile homes on dirt roads and similar out in the desert; lived in several areas like this in NV and AZ).
Ever even been to a university? No (too expensive). Some community college, no degree.
Then family moved from place to place, now living in a different area (now in an actual house, still living with parents though). My adult life has mostly been fiddling with code, and trying (but mostly failing) to get a job (had a job at one point, but then covid came along, and they fired everyone, ...).
Personal projects are mostly a custom CPU ISA + FPGA implementation (technically also has RISC-V support as an alternate mode, but this needs more work). Also a few 3D engines (mostly using Minecraft style blocky terrain). Not figured out a way to get income from any of this though.
So, such is life I guess...

Agreed definitely that's what we call as interdisciplinary knowledge right? Like me also now ended up to learn about computing stuff as well as have master in neuroscience :-)

so would you say a PHD in Computational neuroscience would land you a top position as a very high salary Machine learning, software engineering, or AI engineer positon?

Generally youtuber does not normally get much respect. Main reason is that the content they create are not as meaningful for the society as they think. So as a human being, focusing on your actual work is more respectful. This has nothing to do with income. For me, if I can choose from being a 1M sub youtuber or Turing award, I will no-brainer choose the latter.

Your channel has absolutely nothing on it related to programming and when you speak about coding it is actually painful to listen to you.
Not to mention the fact you use a MAC but apparently program... on a MAC... lol... sorry just I literally cannot stop laughing at you.
