Great discussion - if I may throw in a comment too please! I tend to prefer to use the Olympus Tough TG6 as my primary device - I find long videos just from a helmet mounted camera quite hard to watch. I'd love to try that Insta360 - perfect for capturing those cheeky seals that creep up behind you when you aren't looking! I have an Asako Brave 7 which has a remote controller but unfortunately not waterproof so I'm looking for a small waterproof bag to wrist mount. I have an old GoPro 6 too - unfortunately no horizon levelling, so I've starting using a great program called Gyroflow which can correct and stabilize the footage

I've used a TG6 for some years now but the lens is a bit scratched after extensive use. I was planning to buy a new one but decided to use my new iPhone 14 Pro Max with a water prof case instead.

To use on kayak, waterproof remote controller is a must. I don’t understand why other makers don’t care. After all, GoPro was born for water sports whereas others are for vlogging.

Actually I don't need a dedicated remote. My fenix watch has an app which I can control my Insta360 RS via blutooth, and it can dive to 100m under water....😀

A PC I have built myself. Don't remember the specs, but I will build a new in the autumn.

You are not comparing like with like. There are several 360 cameras on the market, comparing one against two standard action cameras makes no sense. You say you don’t trust the GoPro - why? I have a 10 it is trustworthy and excellent, I got a 4 black when they were first released, it has taken over 4000 hours of video and still works, what is not to be trusted? If you reduce the level of image stabalisation when devk mounted it will reduce the effect you do not like. If you body or helmet mount the GoPro then horizon levelling works very well. If you put a GoPro in the protective case you need not woery about the hinged feet failing, if you tether the camera as recommended you will not worry about losing it overboard.

I made an answer on FB for you. This video is what is the best action camera for a kayaker, and I absolutely think in this case you can compare the cameras. Not everyone can afford to buy several different cameras. And the Insta360 works very good as an action camera and you can use it in sigle lens mode, with much less resoluteness then the other two, admittedly. There are a bunch of videos comparing these cameras on RUclips, so I\m not the only one that thinks they can be used for the same action (skiing, MTB, running, surfing and so on)
