These introductory verses declare the Quran to be the Book of Guidance, enunciate the articles of the Faith -- belief in Allah, Prophethood, and Life-after-death; divide mankind into three main groups with regard to its acceptance or rejection -- Believers, disbelievers, and hypocrites. 1-20
Allah invites mankind to accept the Guidance voluntarily and to submit to Him, the Lord and the Creator of the Universe and to believe in the Quran, His Guidance, and in the Life-after-death. 21 - 29

Why the name Al-Baqarah?
Al-Baqarah (The Cow) has been so named from the story of the Cow occurring in this Surah (67-73). It has not, however, been used as a title to indicate the subject of the Surah. It will, therefore, be as wrong to translate the name Al-Baqarah into "The Cow" or "The Heifer" as to translate any English name, say, Mr. Baker, Mr. Rice, Mr. Wolf, etc., into their equivalents in other languages or vice versa, because this would imply that the Surah dealt with the subject of "The Cow". Many more Surahs of the Quran have been named in the same way because no comprehensive words exist in Arabic (in spite of their richness) to denote the wide scope of the subject discussed in them. As a matter of fact, all human languages suffer from the same limitation.

اُولٰٓئِکَ عَلٰی ہُدًی مِّنۡ رَّبِّہِمۡ ٭ وَ اُولٰٓئِکَ ہُمُ الۡمُفۡلِحُوۡنَ ﴿۵﴾
Those, as described in the way mentioned, are upon guidance from their Lord, those are the ones that will prosper, that is, who will succeed in entering Paradise and be saved from the Fire.

وَ الَّذِیۡنَ یُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِمَاۤ اُنۡزِلَ اِلَیۡکَ وَ مَاۤ اُنۡزِلَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِکَ ۚ وَ بِالۡاٰخِرَۃِ ہُمۡ یُوۡقِنُوۡنَ ؕ﴿۴﴾
and who believe in what has been revealed to you, namely, the Qur'n; and what was revealed before you, that is, the Torah, the Gospel and other [scriptures]; and of the Hereafter, they are certain, that is, they know [it is real].
الٓـمّٓ ۚ﴿۱﴾
Alif lm mm: God knows best what He means by these [letters].

خَتَمَ اللّٰہُ عَلٰی قُلُوۡبِہِمۡ وَ عَلٰی سَمۡعِہِمۡ ؕ وَ عَلٰۤی اَبۡصَارِہِمۡ غِشَاوَۃٌ ۫ وَّ لَہُمۡ عَذَابٌ عَظِیۡمٌ ٪﴿۷﴾
God has set a seal on their hearts, impressing on them and making certain that no good enters them; and on their hearing, [in which He has] deposited something so that they cannot profit from the truth they hear; and on their eyes is a covering, that is, a veil so that they do not see the truth; and for them there will be a mighty chastisement, that is, intense and everlasting.

We each have our own tests. Allah knows best to test each one in Hos wisdom. Remember to always be grateful, have patience and do istighfar, always. This short life will end. By Allahs grace and mercy we will get His forgiveness and have the blessing of paradise. That is something to look forward to

اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ کَفَرُوۡا سَوَآءٌ عَلَیۡہِمۡ ءَاَنۡذَرۡتَہُمۡ اَمۡ لَمۡ تُنۡذِرۡہُمۡ لَا یُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ ﴿۶﴾
As for the disbelievers, the likes of Ab Jahl, Ab Lahab and such; alike it is for them whether you have warned them or have not warned them, they do not believe, as God knows very well, so do not hope that they will believe (read a-andhartahum pronouncing both hamzas, or by not pronouncing the second, making it an alif instead, and inserting an alif between the one not pronounced and the other one, or leaving [this insertion]; al-indhr [`warning'] is to give knowledge of something, and simultaneously instil an element of fear).

وَ مِنَ النَّاسِ مَنۡ یَّقُوۡلُ اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰہِ وَ بِالۡیَوۡمِ الۡاٰخِرِ وَ مَا ہُمۡ بِمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ ۘ﴿۸﴾
The following was revealed concerning the hypocrites: and some people there are who say, `We believe in God and the Last Day', that is, in the Day of Resurrection because it is the very last day; but they are not believers (the [plural] import of man [in man yaql, `who says'] is taken into account here, as expressed by a pronoun [hum] that expresses this [plural] meaning).
الَّذِیۡنَ یُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ بِالۡغَیۡبِ وَ یُقِیۡمُوۡنَ الصَّلٰوۃَ وَ مِمَّا رَزَقۡنٰہُمۡ یُنۡفِقُوۡنَ ۙ﴿۳﴾
who believe in, that is, who accept the truth of, the Unseen, what is hidden from them of the Resurrection, Paradise and the Fire; and maintain the prayer, that is to say, who perform it giving it its proper due; and of what We have provided them, that is, of what we have bestowed upon them, expend, in obedience to God;

ذٰلِکَ الۡکِتٰبُ لَا رَیۡبَ ۚۖۛ فِیۡہِ ۚۛ ہُدًی لِّلۡمُتَّقِیۡنَ ۙ﴿۲﴾
That, meaning, this, Book, which Muhammad (s) recites, in it there is no doubt, no uncertainty, that it is from God (the negation [l rayba fhi] is the predicate of dhlika; the use of the demonstrative here is intended to glorify [the Book]). A guidance (hud is a second predicate, meaning that it [the Book] `guides'), for the God-fearing, namely, those that tend towards piety by adhering to commands and avoiding things prohibited, thereby guarding themselves from the Fire;

Here is the thing Mr Brockk, when Allah created Adam he taught Adam all the names and descriptions. Allah states this in the chapter 2 of the Quran. That’s why every knowledge is sacred in Islam weather it’s Islamic, secular or any other. The fundamental of everything of knowledge is names and descriptions. Regardless whether it’s science, physics chemistry or any knowledge for that matter. May you be guided IA.

“In their hearts is a disease; and Allah has increased their disease: And grievous is the penalty they (incur), because they are false (to themselves).” - Quran 2:10
A year back I decided to read the Quran, but didn’t make it too far, but these two verses stuck with me for some reason.
I kept asking myself, why would God do this?
Why would an all-merciful all-forgiving god do something that would keep unbelievers from accepting the truth and finding the right path?
I tried to look up commentary and Tafsirs online, but all of them either used a lengthier way of expressing the verse instead of answering the question, or tried to say that it is not God but the unbelievers’ ignorance that causes this when the verse clearly says God does this.
Listen to the rest of the lecture … essentially if you choose to do wrong and continually, deliberately don’t follow and out veils on your heart- the seals will remain… god isn’t going to remove them for you- mankind has free will
