  • I promised I'd make a video of the winning game of the Middlebury College Summer Language School Volleyball Championship. (Better late than never!) The Chinese school took home the gold! We always had a lot of fun cheering for our Chinese School against all the other language school's teams at Middlebury. There are other sports teams and activities you can join as a Middlebury Language School student, and are encouraged to join 1 or 2 as part of your immersion.
    This was filmed in Summer 2019. If you're interested in my life at Middlebury's 2 Month Summer Chinese Immersion Program as a Level 3 Student, there are more videos in this playlist: bit.ly/MiddChi...
    This program is a serious investment of time AND money, so I wanted to make this series to help those who are interested learn first-hand what the experience is all about.
    Catch Episode 1 here: • My First Week At Middl...
    This is actually my second time in the program and took place Summer 2019. The first time I went to Middlebury's Summer Chinese Immersion Program was the summer of 2015 when I was a Level 2 Student. The different levels are as follows from least to most advanced: Level 1, 2, 2.5, 3, 4. There is a large jump between each level, which is why a Level 2.5 exists.
    I thoroughly enjoyed my experience both times, although this program is NOT for the faint of heart. You cannot communicate in any other language than the target language (Chinese) the entire time, and the 2 month course is equal to an entire academic year of experience at a University Language Program.
    Any questions, please comment on this video! I'd be happy to answer them as best as I can!
    The final episode will be coming. Stay tuned!

    hi i applyed for chinese program level 1 ,was it hard to get accepted? did you got scholarship?

      That's awesome! I don't think it's difficult to get accepted, you just have to pay. It is expensive and I did receive a partial scholarship for half ($6,000) but I had to take out a student loan for the other half.
      The full scholarships are very competitive and there aren't many, and I believe they have a limit on how many of the half funded scholarships there are. Those are needs based, so you have to qualify by being under a certain level of wealth.

    How was the dorms?

    • @EdVenturesVlog
      @EdVenturesVlog  2 года назад

      The dorms weren't bad, it depends where you end up. I believe you always have a single room for the language programs. I don't think you're ever with a roommate.
      I was in Forest Hall and there you have a shared sink with another room that connects with a seperate door, and then the bathrooms on each floor have 2 bathrooms for men and women each that have 2 showers each and 3 toilet stalls in Forest. In Battell, they don't have rooms with connecting sinks, but have similar bathroom situations. They say there is air conditioning in the dorms but it doesn't work, so bring a good fan. You'll definitely need it because it gets very hot, especially when you're trying to sleep at night. They provide a bed, a desk and a light. But you should bring your own sheets and pillow, etc.
      I would say Forest is preferable to Battell, but they usually give Forest to older students or those with extra accessibility needs. They also might have different dorms depending on the year, but those two are typically the two that the Chinese school uses. Hope this was helpful to you! If you have any more questions feel free to ask! You can also call or email Middlebury and they will answer you. They have updated information, I haven't been there in a few years so things might have changed.

    Are all the books or things you need available in campus?

      All the books you need are available to purchase on campus at additional cost not included in your tuition.
