- On March 28, 2024 around 5:03 PM, Officer Eric Loffredo with the Westfield Police Department responded to the area of West South Avenue and West Broad Street on a report of a female slumped over the wheel of a silver sedan. As he arrived on scene, he observed that the driver, later identified as Meghan, was sleeping inside a 2019 Nissan Sentra. He knocked on the passenger side window and awakened the driver. As he approached the driver side, Meghan opened the door and told the officer that she was going to get her eyelashes done. Officer Loffredo detected the odor of alcohol, but Meghan told the officer that she had not been drinking.
As he was speaking with her, Officer Anthony Perconte arrived on scene to assist. Officer Loffredo asked Meghan for her license, and Officer Perconte asked her to exit the vehicle. He escorted Meghan to the sidewalk and she once again denied consuming alcohol. Officer Loffredo asked her whether she had previously been arrested for DWI, and she acknowledged her previous arrest from August 27, 2023. Court records indicate she had also been arrested for another DWI on September 19, 2018.
Based on his suspicion of impairment, Officer Loffredo asked Meghan to perform field sobriety exercises. He started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Meghan began the test before she was instructed to do so and did not touch heel-to-toe on each step. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand test, and Meghan failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion while displaying a lack of balance.
Based on her having fallen asleep in her car, the odor of alcohol, and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Meghan was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. A search of her vehicle yielded open containers inside the vehicle. Her vehicle was impounded by C&M Towing for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John’s Law.
Officer Loffredo transported Meghan to the Westfield Police Department for further processing. At the police station, Meghan was read the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators and agreed to submit breath samples for testing. Her Alcotest results indicated a BAC of 0.25%, which was more than triple the legal limit of 0.08%. As she was being processed, first responders with the Westfield Rescue Squad arrived to evaluate her, and it was determined that she would be transported to Overlook Medical Center for further medical treatment.
After she was treated and discharged, Meghan was transported back to the Westfield Police Department and agreed to let the officers contact her mother so she could take responsibility for her. Around 12:46 AM, Meghan was released to her mother pending her court appearance after she signed the Potential Liability Warning form on Meghan’s behalf. Officer Loffredo issued her the following summonses: Operating under the influence, reckless driving, delaying traffic, and open container of alcohol

Three DUIs should be a prison sentence. She refuses to change and the inevitable result will be that she ruins someone's life ... unless she is stopped.
Exactly!! I don't understand why they get so many chances 😢
I might be misreading this, but she seem to be embarrassed. If true, she has a chance to recover, but she needs help. With that said, she needs to stop driving immediately.
Had a friend that did 3 years of 4 in prison in SC. It changed him and he wanted to go back to prison. Was sad to see.

She needs help before she kills someone..Needs licence revoked permanently.....Definitely some jail time too..Failed on those she.ll do it again
Revoke her license for LIFE !!!! Total danger to society
Sadly even if Megan’s license is revoked, she will continue to drive. I see inmate numbers in her future.
having lived in NJ, i believe a 3rd is 10 years
make her get that inverlocke so she cant drive if shes over the limit, why isn't this mandatory after a DUI
@@sdeparis1 In New Jersey a 3rd DUI results in loss of drivers license for 10 years and 6 months in jail.
Yes agree 100% revoke it for life
Officers do their jobs and judges do Nothing to protect the communities
She should be in jail
That’s because the judges are just there to set fines and generate revenue for the municipality. Police are collectors for it
I wish I could like this comment a million times. I wholeheartedly agree 🙌🙌
Bidenism at it's finest!
The DA's often allow plea bargains. So her first DUI may have not even shown as a DUI, maybe reckless driving (I saw this one just recently). So the count before it becomes a felony doesn't even start at that point. So is this really "only" her third or really her 4th or 5th DUI (where she got caught; I'm sure she got away with many).
It’s the prosecutors that are more to blame because they cut them sweet deals just to get an easy win on their CV to tally up when they run for DA or political positions if the DA is prosecuting a case that gets them tv coverage.
Judges need to grow a set and turn down these lame ass deals , this is just laziness in the system, just like still running Zoom court appearances where they dress and talk contemptuously and prosecutors are not prepared properly for the cases.
It blows my mind that someone who’s on their 3rd DUI gets to have someone pick them up at the PD instead of going to jail. The punishment for her obviously hasn’t been severe enough up to this point.
MAKES ME WONDER WHO SHE'S RELATED TO OR WHO SHE KNOWS. Because trust me, if it was ME - I'm a nobody with no connections - I'd have wound up behind bars - WHICH IS WHERE SHE BELONGED THE FIRST TIME, THE SECOND TIME, THE THIRD TIME, THE FOURTH TIME, ETC. And they're talking about who she KNOWS???? What the heck does it MATTER who she knows??? IF YOU DRIVE DRUNK YOU'RE ARRESTED. PERIOD. Stop making it about your continued employment or chance of advancement - instead make it about the lives of INNOCENT BYSTANDERS. Very disappointing to see first hand what appears to be more important than human life.
It’s because it’s New Jersey….they treat DUI’s like a joke

@@user-yw5mq2lg3d It's not about connections. It's about the stated laws and unfortunately many states view a DUI as a traffic ticket. If you watch more of this channel and similar ones, you will see many of these drunks get a slap on the wrist

Sad and horrible, knowing how many selfish morons especially these 20 years or so with stupid cellphones distracting drivers then add drugs and alcohol it’s alway A potential disaster!! Back in the late 70s when I was graduating high school several of my friends, classmates etc died drunk driving. Two of them loved driving drunk and speeding both were in horrific wrecks with multiple passengers, one killed three the other five teenagers they barely had a scratch, but were charged with manslaughter, the first only served 3 years the other 7!! This person will continue to drink and drive no matter what. Alcoholics don’t think about anyone but themselves even if it means taking another life while they’re doing it. She will never stop unless she’s stopped with time behind bars and in rehab. She doesn’t even care that she’s arrested. No emotion what so ever. Very selfish people.
"Alcoholics don't care about anyone but themselves." She is not all alcoholics. Many get treatment and never drink and drive.
Can't drink and drive if you don't have a car to drive. Make them sell it and put a ban on them owning a car. Take the whole PRIVILEGE away. It's not a right.
Rehab is 100% useless for people who don't choose to enter it on their own. You can't force someone to stop being like this. She needs to be in jail for life, she'll never get better, she needs to be kept away from decent people forever.
@@arthurneddysmith that’s a minority and while they are drunks they don’t give a crap about anything but alcohol. It’s the truth.
@@tabora_ thing is they will drive someone else’s vehicle. Had an uncle that drove even after they took his license for life and he couldn’t have a vehicle in his name because of so many DUI convictions. He drove the huge earth movers for a living and people still hired him because he was so good at his job. His 2 sons had to have the breathalyzers in their vehicles to drive their vehicles. My cousin my age finally stopped drinking but his oldest brother is going down my uncles path. You can’t stop them from driving unless everyone around them refuses to enable them. My aunt finally stopped my uncle because she refused to let him take her vehicle and told his kids to stop letting him drive theirs. Crazy but true. They will never stop unless everyone around them refuses to help them drive. Me and my siblings stopped allowing my father who was an alcoholic ever drive when we were old enough to stop him. His addiction was more important than even his children. They don’t care if they hurt someone else, it’s all about them. Sad but true.
Why isn't she in prison? Why are prosecutors, judges, and the laws, so weak when it comes to DUI's??? Even officers tell people "it's just like a ticket". They shouldn't be minimizing drunk driving. She needs some prison time and forced rehab.
This would happen less if NJ made DUI a crime.
Yes, you read that correct. DUI in NJ IS NOT A CRIME.
What a joke of a state.
this is actually beneficial, it gives a criminal lawyer less chances to get it dismissed or plea bargain down. There is also no hardship license allowed ever.

Sadly, if they pull her license, she'll probably still drive. She's dangerous toeveryone around her.
She got a third DUI because they didn't do anything to her for the first two. So she has learned that driving while intoxicated has no real consequences because she keeps getting light sentences.

I am a recovering 22-year alcoholic. I have done a lot of regretful and despicable things as poison can enable the worst aspects of your personality. However, not once did I ever lack the basic empathy to drive drunk. Absolutely disgusting and selfish behavior committed by the worst of society. We have been collectively preaching the dangers of drinking and driving for over a century and have not progressed one bit. Penalties are mild and alcohol is widely encouraged everywhere you look. Easily the most destructive drug in the world and yet still the easiest to obtain and least taboo in modern society.

I agreee. I’m 15 years sober and never drove drunk
The officers were so nice. I am glad they got her off the streets but somehow it is also very sad.
How is she even able to keep her license? This is ridiculous.
I have had a dui before, stupidest decision ever. I did 30 days home confinement, 2 days in county, $1,300 fine, 1 year supervised probation, MRT, Thinking errors classes and my license suspended for 60 days. I made the decision to sell my car because I didn't even want to look at it because I was so disgusted with myself and I didn't drive for over a year because I didnt feel comfortable. I paid my debt to society and learned my lesson. Never again. All DUIs should have the EXACT same punishment as I received. Any more than 2 DUIs should be automatic revoked license, 10 years jail time and 10 years supervised probation.
What State or Country was that in?

@@theonewiththeface6258 yes it is. Thank you for sharing!
I had a friend that was a bad alcoholic and had multiple DUIs and kept getting out and repeating. He ended up in the hospital (intensive care), with pancreatitis a couple of times and within a week of his last hospital stay, he was arrested again for a DUI. His wife finally had enough and kicked him out, he went to a hotel, where he basically drank himself to death. They found him in the hotelroom, unconscious, to come to the hospital, where he went into kidney failure and died at 55 years old. None of his family members could convince him to go to rehab and get help. He was extremely fortunate that he never hurt or killed anybody during these DUIs, but they should have kept him longer in jail and forced him to rehab. Our loss have gotten very slack with how they treat repeat offenders. His daughter subsequently was an alcoholic due to his behaviors and example, but she wound up getting help after seeing how destructive her father had become in his life and theirs. Alcohol is extremely destructive and I can’t even imagine what a world without it would look like. it causes so much loss and every aspect of life!
No chance against alcohol without proper nutrition
Only 3 ways out locked up, sober up or covered up. I thankfully have 20 years of sobriety.
She’s what’s called a “maintenance alcoholic”= she has to maintain a certain increasingly higher level of BAC just to function. It’s very sad and leads to wet brain and then death if she doesn’t pass from heart failure before that.
I've never seen anyone write "wet brain" in the comments, except for myself. And yes, as you must know, it really is a "thing". An actual recognized condition.

As a guy asking, is there a great demand for women to get their eyelashes done that there would be a business created just for that ??? Just curious. 🤔 👀 😏
Yup. Although I think most of them are within a salon or esthetician studio.
Eyelashes (tinting or false) is just one of many things you can get done by a beautician, no need for a separate business.
They have small clusters of longer, thicker, curled lashes that are glued to the underside of the eyelashes very close to the roots of the real lashes. Some people get them done so they look natural, but that’s the exception. You see a lot where they’re ½ to ¾ of an inch long and almost touch the brow bone when they open their eyes. You can also see their lashes when you view them in profile. You can’t unsee it once you see someone who had them, especially when they look like a piece of shiny black plastic in lieu of the actual lashes. Mascara isn’t THAT expensive.
Why doesn’t NJ take DUIs seriously??🤬

Whatever ramifications came from the first two clearly weren’t enough to deter her from doing it all over again. A car becomes a lethal weapon when someone under the influence gets behind the wheel.
There's no FST's over here, its straight to breathalyser... From what I've seen in these bodycam videos, once you've been asked to do FST's you're getting arrested for dui/owi regardless of how you perform the tests, so its obviously for extra evidence. What I find strange is the reluctance of officers to admit theyre "tests", even though they're called Field sobriety "Tests". Ive heard countless officers say "its not a test, its to allay my fears you're unfit to drive". Cops can be slippery
The reason you see nearly everyone who does SFSTs get arrested is because watching sober people do well on the tests and NOT get arrested is boring so no one bothers to get and then upload the bodycam footage to RUclips.
Defense lawyers typically recommend you DON'T do FSTs. You're right, they're just extra evidence and they're subjective. Best thing you can do for yourself is answer only the questions you're legally required to answer and then invoke your rights and let your lawyer fight it in court.
