Realize you would have done this the pro way but I’m glad I had the epiphany early this morning this is possible…you’re message I guess is to think outside the envelope.Thank you for this.

I have to be honest, I rarely use Photoshop and when I say rarely I mean never. Focus stacking images similar to what you processed has me intrigued at the possibilities. Another good video, Mark!

It's not needed all the time Bruce, but when using a wide-angle lens and having a foreground element up close and personal, it certainly solves the issues of having 2/3'rds of your image out-of-focus.

Great stuff Mark! Good on you to do more research about the fungi, really have no clue (as my name suggests haha). Nice tip about rotating the phone for shooting low, iPhone cameras or smartphones are amazing nowadays. Nice focus stacked image!

Thanks, Keith. yeah I get a chuckle from your channel name but certainly not clueless from your videos that I've watched - love your content! The rotating tip is really a great way to get a different perspective. Works really well on table-top photography too!

Great information here Mark. My knowledge of fungi was limited to knowing that they held decompose trees and that some of them can be beautiful and photogenic. I'm surprised that you went back into LR to use the healing brush, I find that type of editing so much easier and more powerful in PS and you were already in PS.

This is where I find the comments so beneficial. When I read this Sam, I was in a stupor lol, and thought to myself, why did I go back to Lr without first using the healing brush. Yes, Photoshop is still king when it comes to fixing blemishes. I guess I wanted to "work harder", not smarter. 🤔

It was a learning experience for me as well lol. I had no intentions to photograph fungi on this morning so it was quite a delight! These were made on a casual hike in the Naugatuck State Forest.

Hey Amir, thanks for watching. I haven’t tried Affinity Photo - Yet! I say that because it looks so good! I know the desktop version supports focus stacking, but I’m unsure if the iPad version does at this time.

Unless I missed it, did you shoot these in RAW or Apple ProRAW? It’s a feature introduced in the Apple camera app with iPhone 12. I’m going to try this with my 11 using Halide app (it does raw, tif, macro and more). I love the tip on turning the camera upside down!

Hello ilopix, yes, these were shot in Apple ProRAW. I absolutely love the ProRAW results! I was just in Yosemite a few weeks ago, and even with 25 lbs of camera gear on my back, at times I found myself just reaching for my iPhone, tapping RAW, and shooting confidently like that. As for the upside-down technique, it really does produce a different perspective - have fun playing with it!

Thanks for clarifying. I was amazed of the mushroom community once I began researching for the video. Pretty awesome to see people hiking, searching for mushrooms, and doing there thing!
