Vance spent 4 years as a marine. Walz spent 24 years in the National Guard. I commend both for their service, but Vance needs to stop denigrating a fellow veteran. Vance spent 6 months in Iraq, and when he came back he said he "was lucky to escape any real fighting". Now he's trying to demean Walz's 24 years of service?? Vance also stated when he came home that the marines "taught him how to be an adult". Well, apparently not, as his nit-picking is quite juvenile.
Walz lied about his rank and deployment. His own commander said this...... Now Lieutenant Colonel John Kolb, the man who would take over Walz's unit after the governor quit in 2005, has obliterated the Democrat for claiming the rank of Command Sergeant Major and for retiring before deployment to Iraq
Why does the media keep this story going? Walz has answered and chosen the high road by thanking Vance for his service. It’s the media that is letting Vance make this an active issue.
No one has a problem with Walz’s service. The problem is that he bypassed the chain of command to quit after he found out he was being deployed to Iraq. The problem is that he lied about his retired rank for political purposes. The problem is that he claimed to carry a weapon during combat. All of these things are well documented. Tim Walz served for TWENTY FOUR YEARS. For JD Vance to say that after having giving up more years than the typical person who has a military career, Walz somehow is a coward is truly despicable. For any fellow veteran to disparage their brother or sister in arms is the actual coward. Vance isn't even telling a true story about Walz. He retired BEFORE he got the word that they MIGHT deploy. Unless he was somehow psychic and knew that his unit was going to get order to deploy, it's unfair of Vance to claim that Walz timed his retirement based on the deployment. And even if that were the case, he had every right to retire. He served four years MORE than his time, had young children, a wife, and a job as a teacher and a football coach. He didn't give up his life serving people either; he simply decided to serve in another way as a congressman. Even the people who he served with who have differences in political beliefs are speaking out and saying what Vance is saying is completely wrong. While I'm not surprised that JD would stoop so low, he should be ashamed of himself.
Its probably the same will we/wont we deploy for the 4 years prior to that. Dude wanted to fight for veterans in congress, and he did that. Its so stupid that ring wingers hail the troops as much as they do, Whilst republicans continually cast down votes to prohibit veteran benefits, and care. I will never forgive them for doing what they did against the veterans and the tar pits medical care they desperately needed, less than a couple years ago. im done with them crying wolf.
@@s.cazorla251 Proof that he lied? Vance conveniently doesn't mention that he was a journalist while in Afghanistan which would leave most ppl to think he was in combat when he wasn't. There is nothing wrong w/being a journalist deployed to a combat zone so why does Vance proudly state what he did over there? It's almost like he's privately ashamed of it. That's a bigger problem than anything Walz may have said about weapons of war. As for Walz's rank at retirement, it is confirmed by the Nation Guard that he held the highest rank a NCO can attain & has every right to claim it. But the rules of the military say if you don't hold that rank for at least 3 yrs before mustering out you get the retirement pay of the next grade down. Same if you don't finish all the tests before retirement. Vance is the one without valor for attacking Walz's service. Neither Walz nor the Dems have said anything about Vance's service.

Personally I would disagree with that. On the basis that *some people shouldn't be allow anywhere near the military.* Ron DeSantis for example. Not everyone is suited for military, but there are people who shouldn't be there even if they want in. Captain bone spurs did the military a favor by having "bone spurs", lets not imagine what he would end up doing if he actually got in.

Served 100 years you want but lying about your record. Lol
Regardless of when a military member joins, or what their MOS is, or even if they see combat , ALL veterans should be given respect and appreciation. Less than 1% of Americans voluntarily sign up to possibly die protecting democracy across the world. When you join the military wheter its as a secretary, a misslieer, or munitions, you CAN be called to fight for your country and its best interests! I cant stand JD Vance, I think he is phoney as fuck, but I do appreciate his service to our country. It's shameful that Vance has questioned a fellow veteran, Tim Walz's service and falsely accused him of stolen valor. Shame on him.
Respect is earned, not given. Me? USMC Infantry, 2 and a half years in combat, none of it in the rear. Two Purple Hearts. Vance is a poser. I just wish he would stop telling people he was in the Corps. It is embarrassing to the Corp.

“The Only Thing Trump & JD Vance Know About Working People is how to work to Take Advantage of Them” - Tim Walz
trump looks old.
He is old
Older than time.
He's running against someone young enough to be his daughter.
They say Walz only served one weekend a month and Vance 4 years. Well one weekend a month for 24 years equals 2,304 days and 4 years is only 1460. I just want to thank BOTH men for serving. I learned that from only ONE of these 2 men
1461, you forgot to leap. Never been in the Military have you. It's not the service, rather it's the lies about the service. Even Wikipedia has him listed as CSM, only deployed in support of "Operation Enduring Freedom".
IMO, vance is attacking Governor Waltz for his miltary service because he knows, his military stint is much shorter than his. Plus, the rank reached by governor Waltz in the military can prove that he is much suited to be a leader compare to vance. In short, vance is desperately trying to misdirect the attention away from his military record.
When Walz went on liberty in Europe when he was Deployed, He went to town/the city's and mingled with the locals...... When Vance Deployed, He didn't go any further than the parimater of the Base Camp. Vance was in the War Zones, Walz was pretty much on Vacation!!!!!!
Look both served honorably, Vance for a few years, Walz for 24 years, both did not see combat but ONLY one SOB attacked another one who served while serving a man (Trump) who routinely calls fallen soldiers losers.
Need to be educated and realize that wasn't what he said and it has been proven.
@@stephenostwinkle845what did he say?
@@norrisfong6445 The Atlantic broke the story with 4 unnamed officials. If you are accusing someone, why not stand up for what you say. Come forward and be named. Referring to Gen. John Kelly, who was with Trump during the trip as his chief of staff, he said, "I did not hear POTUS call anyone losers when I told him about the weather. Honestly, do you think General Kelly would have stood by and let ANYONE call fallen Marines losers?" Zach Fuentes, a former White House aide who left the administration in early 2019 and was with the president on the Paris trip and presumably near him during the in-question conversations about the cemetery visit, stood up for Trump in an interview with Breitbart. However, there appeared to be no evidence of an audio or video recording of the remarks in question, nor was there any documentation, such as transcripts or presidential notes, to independently confirm or deny the alleged quotes' authenticity. So basically, anyone could make up anything.

National Guard is not service. It's an easy way to get extra money.
Has Vance said anything about Donny avoiding service #5, and that Donny's granddaddy migrated here to avoid the draft.
How many times has Walz said "I served in the Army for 24 years" without saying "National Guard"?
Does it really matter? If you served, you served.
@@dpcwing729
of course it really matters
active-duty is 24/7 (with a little leave)
National Guard is one weekend a month +2 weeks per year.
he's made multiple exaggerations about his service
There are no unimportant positions; it takes everyone to make the whole work. To denigrate the level of service of anyone who enlists is disgusting, they all offer up their lives, and it is not up to the individual where they are assigned.
Not sure why weirdo Vance and his best bud cadet bone spurs and denigrating Walz's long service other than they have no actual policies.
As a vet, I respect both men for taking a turn in the service. Walz had the greater responsibility as a senior NCO and length of service, and he gets another nod from me for that. Vance was a good troop, but he's too green a politician to be VP.

Trump: “A lot of people are saying, mmm.. the best people. No one is talking about the context of Walz’s comment about “weapons I carried into war”.
The point of his comment wasn’t to brag or tout his [non] combat experience. The point was about gun violence in America and how certain people should be denied the ability to own weapons of war.
Vance conveniently leaves that part out. Because pro-lifers aren’t actually pro-life. They’re grasping at straws.
He did deploy during war time, too. He didn't have to shoot anyone, but the possibility was part of the job he was doing.

Harris only had 90 days to put a campaign together, select a VP running mate and campaign for the people. The media are barking like dogs for interviews, ,,,,,,,KEEP your shorts on, she'll give interviews but campaigning now is more important.
Being at Aviano would be a great draw. As the former soldier said "you don't get to choose where you get sent."
Neither of them were in active combat. So what? They did what they were told. That’s how the military works.
Most people don't understand that already having served 20 years, eligible for retirement, and knowing it would mean possible deployment at any time, Walz reenlisted 4 days after AUMF passed. And when called before a medical retention board in late 2002 due to service related hearing loss, he argued to stay in...he deployed not long after that as backfill to active duty units-despite having a young kid at home who would be growing up while he was gone...
Two easy outs he didn't take. He didn't decide to retire until 2004 and that was to pivot to another form of service to his country
