You love the P90 tone and you would like it in your Strat. What you don't want is two or three awkward looking soapbar pickups on the guard. You would rather retain the classic Strat look but still have P90 tone. Well folks, here's the solution: S-90 Simulcaster Pickups by JJ's Guitar Pickups. Ben wound these guys for me and sent me a beautifully loaded guard and he can do that for you too if you wish. The sound? You be the judge. I love them. They give me the extra punch, snarly mids and grainy quality that are common qualities of P90's, but now they're on a Strat where the ergonomics are different to, say, a Les Paul Junior or Special, and the combination is fantastic. The problem is a long known one. Everything Brett plays sounds great. From the sound I hear at my PC these are a must have for me. So different, but beautiful. But then there's Brett. Seriously.

For folks looking, these are a not a noiseless pickup, just a single coil with a few tricks deployed to keep them as quiet as possible, for a single coil. We think they rip! Look out for HB-90 and T-90 in 2024, we're working on those right now!

Truly spectacular! I have a Strat with a pair of Fralin hum-cancelling P90s, but there's one big in-between position rather than the typical positions 2 and 4 of a Strat. It looks cool because it's different, but I'm thinking that I can find a home for a set of Simulcasters too.

and it's the mids that sold me on them too. guitar needs to sit nicely in mix with mids.
Nice. Good snarly growl. Also liked it with the Princeton, which made it easier to keep it clean.

Man these things sound so nice and plinky in positions 2 and 4. I have been looking for a set to replace my awful EMG Gilmour set and these could be the winner.

@@baabaabaa-yp2jh come to think of it, I would love to replace the EMGs in my LTD LP as well, and have a great wen wanting a good set of soap bars for it. Another guitar I love that is almost ruined by bad active pickups. I use a lot of upward expansion with them when I play them, and they feel as dynamic as normal pickups, but I usuly use my SIM 1 XT1 to simulate p90s, becasue EMG tone is difficult to deal with. :)

Theyre gd for hitting the front of the amp, but l agree lack dynamics, unless processed, they're not for me.
Bucker sized p90s? SD do Phat Cats, Mojotone do a gd p90 that will fit, they do a great Dynasonic + rings (but for Gretsch Electromatics, not sure if the size is the same as an EMG or PAF?
If you're in Australia, look up Murray's pickups, he does some good gear & Mr Glynns in NZ too.

@@baabaabaa-yp2jh EMGs are a matter of taste. I have four guitars loaded with them and they are perfect for jam sessions or those rare (for me) gigs where the backline is hired. They'll punch through any mix and clean up using the volume knob very consistently over the whole frequency range. They do tend to compress the sound a bit which gets more noticeable the cleaner your tone is. I like a lot of classic rock grind thus they suit me well. If I want detailed picking dynamics I choose a different guitar (I'm fortunate to have a large and varied collection).

OMG, snap. I love P90's, my current favourites. but, a strat with P90's? yuck. it kills the really sweet open stringy bright strat tones. BUT, the tones out of these pickups are epic. I agree they sound P90 plus sweet strat tones. Amazing. well done JJ

Are those pickups just overwound single coils, or are they built like real p90's with two Aknico magnets? C8 magnets? What kind of magnet is that?
