I 'auditioned' several guitars with P90s to find the one whose tone I liked best. From a crappy Harley Benton Les Paul Jr clone, to the Epiphone LP Jr version of same, two Gretches, a Gibson Les Paul Jr, a Les Paul with 2 P90s, and a Godin. The best P90 I played, by far, was a Fender Noventa Telecaster with one P90. Mexican build. Whatever it was about the Fender P90s, they were SO much better. I bought the Strat version with 2 P90s. I had the Jazzmaster with 3 P90s, but returned it the next day, it was too heavy & 3 P90s is just cosmetic. The Bare Knuckle 'Pig P90s seem to be the top of the lists, with Fralin & Seymour Duncan's "antiquity" series mentioned often as well.
Very nice design layout work! I just did the same conversion today in fact. I had two lucky shortcuts working for me - 1: my Mexico Strat already had a humbucker route for the bridge, so only had to route out the neck pick up. 2: I found a Strat Pickguard with two P90s already routed. I just had to trace out the pickup on my neck route. It was very easy, I used two Wilkinson P90s one volume / tone and a 3 way switchcraft switch. No more volume knob to hit in that cursed knob location that I dislike about Strats. I used the two lower pot locations....this thing really rocks...love it. Nice video sir.
Great video! I'm making a Telecaster with a P90 in the neck position and am thinking about the Nantucket, which sounds great here. I love the look with the cream covers, mint guard and maple neck.
Perfect video. No BS, just step-by-step, quality knowledge. Excellent craftsmanship too mate - what a stunning finished product!
Thank you! 😃

Thank you. Glad your conversion went well 🎸
If you have an HSH rout Strat would a P90 pickguard fit easily?
@@mfohr Pretty sure those routes are plenty big for P-90s !
I realized today Duncan Phat Cats are humbucker sized P90s. That makes it very simple.
Neat job , excellent explanation and demonstration of the finished instrument.
Thank you very much 😃
i like what you did here with the P90’s nice work
Thank you 😃
Very nice work, I’m considering doing the same thing here. You’ve convinced me!
Thank you! Glad to help
Your work is immaculate. The sound is worth the effort. I did a p90 pickguard for a jm offset style and this brought back memories. Cheers.
Thank you! 😃
What an amazing thorough fact filled video, just what I am searching for and, so, like,

Nice made video, and nice guitar, thanks!

Me: I’ll never get a mint green pickguard
*sees how good it looks here*
Me: I think my next pickguard will be mint green 😬
😂
Cool build! I just got a tele w p90s and I’m gonna rewire it , what size pots and caps did you use w those bare knuckles?
Thanks! Was a while ago, but pretty sure 500k and .022
What a fantastic precision job. Thankyou!! Do you know if it's possible to fit a single coil into a p90 soap bar slot on a Les paul ? 🙏
Thank you for watching!
You would probably need some sort of cover/ large pickup ring to hide the larger p90 rout if you were going to do that.
Thankyou. I've ordered some single coil pickup rings and will give it a try. All the best
The Squire and import Stratocaster that are HSH will take any pickup no Matter
Where did you get the pickguard from?
I think it was Axecaster
