So, three years later and one week after purchasing photo pills I come across your tutorials. They are awesome, and your style of explaining this app is brilliant. Just the right bite size of information to make learning attainable. Subscribed and looking forward for more
Great content. Concise, easy to understand and to the point. I learned more in one minute of viewing the cheat sheet than I did in hours of playing with the app. I wish I saw this a couple of years ago. Thank you for obviously spending a bazooka of time, though and effort in your Friday series.
Brenda your tutorials are brilliant. I have spent hours trying to follow some of the other videos on Photopills and was ready to call it a day, when I came across your tutorials. You have an ability to explain things in a way that I have no problem following.
Wow. What a fabulous teacher! I am now actually understanding photopills which I’ve had on my phone for four years as a virtual paperweight. Can hardly weight for week 5.
This is such a great resource and so helpful. So easy to follow .. well maybe a few items I'll have to re watch a few times to make sure I've got it down. Thanks and so looking forward to next weeks.
Great job in explaining photo pills. I have enjoyed them so far, easy to understand, and nice small bits of how to vs going on for an hour and trying to cover a lot of material. BRAVO!!
Brenda, you prove you're never too old to learn - so long as you have a good teacher. I'm 81, just got back to UK from France so had to find a way to usefully spend two weeks in Covid-19 quarantine. Your classes are lucid, erudite but easy to follow and will give me two weeks very well spent to develop my astrophotography. My only problem is I can't use AR with my tablet or either of my smartphones as none of them has a magnetometer. I guess there's no workaround?
I'm so glad you're finding a way to pass the quarantine time! :) Unfortunately, without the magnetometer, I'm pretty sure the AR won't work since it relies on those sensors. What are you hoping to use the AR for - perhaps there is a workaround for that...
Hi Brenda. I'm very new to all of this. Ive been learning photography for about a year now, at home in the UK. I'm heavily swatting up on landscape photography, having just booked a flight to Canada to see our Son. First time visit, so hoping to put all that i've learnt into practice. Trying to understand Hyperfocal Distance led me to the Photopills app, eventually leading me to you, for which I am so grateful. Your Friday sessions are very well received and I thank you for taking the time to make things so much easier and more enjoyable.
your channel is fabulous! totally inspirational/motivational for getting out and taking some pics! i would have gotten frustrated quickly in this app without your photopills Fridays. thanks!
I just found this series and like others have said it is lifesaver. The link for the PhotoPills Icon Cheat Sheet takes me to your website, but I do not see the download link. Would you mind re-sharing 👍
Hi Angela - here's a link to the cheat sheet: outdoorphotographyschool.com/photopillscheatsheet/. You can change the units in PhotoPills by going to My Stuff -->Settings-->Units. Hope that helps!
Thanks for a great series of tutorials Brenda. I also like the thumbnail used in RUclips, very clever. I am a user of PhotoPills for a few years now but still learn from your tutorial. Have watched a lot of PhotoPills on RUclips and also learned a lot but Raphael the bard's english is hard to follow.
Hey kid.........I live in the Appalachian mountains. Is there anyway to address the fact that it depends on which side of the mountain you live on to effectively use the PhotoPills app........ tw
@@outdoorphotographyschool7366 We live on the southeast side of a wooded mountain where the sun disappears 20 to 25 minutes before the schedule listed which tends to give us a..........kinda golden/blue hour combination. If I turn away from the sun it gives me a golden hour scenario........if facing towards the sun........a blue hour. Sun/moon rising/setting aside.........the best to describe the effect is if you were standing behind a building opposite of the sun/moon rising/setting the information fm PP would be useless. This problem is also experienced when shooting the milky way..........most of us need to locate a mountain top to use the information.
My PP is never successfully calibrated. The moment I hit Done after visually calibrating, it goes back to it's original position, which is around ~45 degrees off! I upgraded to a newer iPhone thinking it was a phone issue, but nothing changed. It's totally useless for me for this reason alone.
Hi Sandy - Sorry to hear that you're having trouble getting a similar view. Do you want to send me a screenshot at brenda@outdoorphotographyschool.com?
I'm sorry to hear that! I have heard of this issue a couple of times before - it seems to happen with Mcafee users, but I'm not sure why. I've checked with my hosting company and they've assured me that everything is secure. If you send me an email at brenda@outdoorphotographyschool.com, I'll email you the PDF.
Why when I activate the Civil/Astro/Nautical button do I have NO lines on my map? I also didn't have a moon set line on the Sun/Moon button. Version 1.7.8 Android.
Am I the only one that doesn't see what you're showing? I'm on the twilights panel, my red pin is there, but no lines. I also can't find the swirls of the kinds of twilight. If I have to go back over the previous lessons I'll never get anywhere. I play you at 75% speed and still have to replay multiple times in one listening. Is there an easier way?
Thanks Brenda, I leaned more about Photo Pills in the last few minutes than in the 4 years I had the program. Great Job!!!!

I have watched other youtube videos on how to.... Photopills. You clearly make it more understandable than all of the others. Thank you!

Finally! I can crack the code of Photopills! Thank you!
Thank you for this .. hopefully I can get out and about with PhotoPills now instead of just opening it .. and just closing it again as too hard
Another Friday, another PhotoPills episode. Yay! Thanks very much, Brenda.
You are so welcome!

Are the azimuths in true or magnetic degrees? This is a fantastic series!
Thanks Brenda!
You bet - thanks for tuning in!

This is a great app. You give a very good explanation about the app features.

It’s FRIDAY!!!!
Yay!
Hi Brenda! Love your tutorial. For some reason, I can't find the cheat sheet. Also on the object height, how can change the unit from m to ft?

Thanks for the feedback, Henk! I'm still discovering new things about the app too. And I'm glad you like the thumbnail!

Hmmm - it shouldn't matter which side of the mountains you're on to use the app. Can you tell me more?

Hi Brenda, I'm using an iPhone 10 and my screens don't look like yours at all, having a hard time following these lessons. Any suggestions???
Hi Sandy - Sorry to hear that you're having trouble getting a similar view. Do you want to send me a screenshot at brenda@outdoorphotographyschool.com?
Hi Brenda. I am trying to download your cheat sheet, but my antivirus blocks the site. Anyone else have that problem?

It's been two years since this video and still, no zoomed out view for the twilights has been added to android :/
wish the playlist was reversed so they played in correct order
Бренда! Отличные уроки! Спасибо! @sergshat_51
