As of December 1st, 2021 - It seems as though SteamCMD wants us to define the folder location before logging in. So it will now look like this: force_install_dir DIRECTORYLOCATION login anonymous app_update 258550 I've now tested this to get the same result that many are getting, so I do now know what you're experiencing. I've also tested this method to make sure that it works and it does. So you should be good to go. Leave a like on this comment if I sent you here from another comment :)

@Chutzpah-Rust I do know of server owners that have tried this with not much success. The challenge is both the client and the server have to be running that version. It gets complicated and messy. What aspect of 232 are looking to maintain?
I watched the video you uploaded about 9 months ago and all I can say is that your explanations are amazing even for someone who has no idea how to setup any type of game server I learned alot. Thanks : )
Woohoo New updates, Just started my rust server few days ago, have learned a lot form your other videos, you are the R.A.D, cant wait for more :D currently hosting from Zap Hosting and still building using your videos and recommendations, Thank you for all your help, couldn't have done it without your videos.
been following your server tut for the past few days and have been successful up until launching it online. Still, i am loving the vast amount of gem youve dropped on your channel. Love from New Zealand
One thing you may want to mention if you do a future update to your server set-up guide is the fact that your locally hosted server may suddenly disappear from your players history/favorite lists if your public IP provided from your internet provider changes. Almost all internet providers assign you a dynamic IP, which can change at any time without warning (normally when you reboot your modem or after a service outage). Sometimes this change happens after months of having the same IP, sometimes more frequently. Since rusts server browser identifies servers via the public IP address they are hosted on, your server will be removed from players favorite/history even if you don't change the name of your server.. The only way around this is to ask your Internet service provider if they can offer you a static IP (one that never changes). If your provider is able to provide one, it usually comes with a monthly cost. Some providers only offer static IP address to their customer's with a business class account and will force you to upgrade your class of service in order to get a static IP while some other providers won't provide a static IP at all. Hosting a server on a dynamic IP can make it difficult to keep players returning to your server if it constantly gets removed from their history/favorites. I would suggest you warn players of this possibility if they start to become regulars, make sure they are part of your discord community and maybe even make a discord channel specifically for alerts when your IP changes so they can re-add to their favorites either through the Steam UI or by searching the name of your server by the name and re-adding it to favorites. As a side note. A lot of people think that setting a static ip on their computer (one that starts with 192.xx.xx.xx) is enough, but that's just setting an internal private static IP. What I'm taking about is the public IP address that your internet provider is handing to your modem. Only your service provider controls that IP. P.S. I Absolutely love your videos, Bull! You're doing something for the rust server admin community that not many are willing to take the time to do. For that i salute you, sir!
This is just a cvar you need to change in your startup file. It should look something like this: +Ai.move true It’s probably set to false right now. I assume this is a hosted server through a hosting provider?
Watched this 3 years ago. Stopped playing this game, started again now, but couldn't remember what I was doing so here I am. One question "Because I'm am..." ??? :P Thanks again.
Im trying to find a way to make backup of my server when we have wipes forced by facepunch, did you have any idea is that even possible? I run some servers where the content is mostly pve and the people they dont want to lose the progress, I love your videos good luck!
Thanks for watching. I’m glad they’re helping. There is a way to do what you want to do, it involves having a custom map and reloading map saves onto it. It’s not something I cover and I can’t think of anyone off the top of my head that I can direct you to.
We had a similar issue on our old Union server. One of the problems with reloading save states after Force Wipe is that often there are fundamental changes that make the saves incompatible after Force - for example, we couldn't find a way to make pre-HDRP saves compatible with the post-HDRP Force Wipe. I have been told there are ways to save a base design (in Rust Edit, for example), and then the server Admin can port those designs into the map. Of course, then you'd have to find a way to make sure the bases are then TC'd and Authorized by the proper players, before another player gets inside to drop a TC. And unless you have a very kind Admin willing to populate your prior loot by hand, you're starting over from scratch on that point. At least, this is how it was for us last year.
omg .... i thank you so much im able to play my own server again.before i had gtton the server thru facepunch but then the error mesg of oops ipv6 not found so i could not play for long time till i found your video. and now able to thanks again i injoyed your tutorial.
whenever i type the command (client.connect localhost) after 2 attempts at connecting it says disconnected and doesnt let me join. How do i fix this? edit: it also says it cant establish a TCP connection in cmd.exe
@@srtbull thanks for the reply as my friends are not local to me but still in the same country is it possible for them to join me, once I have done that I can more on too your nodding videos. Many thanks
I have a problem with the server it's not starting but opening my rust game. Can I run both my rust I play and my server on the same system or do I need a pc just for the server. Plus can I use my server to connect and play other servers .

Srtbull the last video I kept trying and the it would log me into steam when I put it into anonymous but now that I’m using a new file and I’m watching this new video it WORKS!! Thank you so much you made my day 😀
Hi can I run a server without a host and let ppl connect to it from a different town or country by giving them my ip and port number as I want to run a server but can't afford to pay for hosting it
Absolutely. That’s exactly what we’re doing here. Local hosting on your own network. Just port forward the port you define in your batch file and your friends can connect from anywhere in the world with the IP address, or search you out like normal in Rust server directory.
Hey Srtbull, Thanks for the in depth guide on how to start my own private rust server. For the most part, everything worked without any issues! One problem that I'm having is with getting friends to connect. I typed in the command, client.connect myIPaddress:28015, however my friend couldn't connect. Thank you again and please let me know, Josh
@@srtbull Hi Srtbull, I am experiencing the same issue. I made sure to set up my port forward on my router as well. On the port forward settings on my router I have, "28016" as my original port and forward to port. I also have "28016" as my server port.
you can also googel how to port forwad, for exempel if you have a D-link roater, googel " port forwad yousing a d-link roater" (+ ad the model nr/ or name)
Guys if you are having issues with editing the bat file and the configurations you made not changing try revert back to the original format by removing the ^ symbol and grouping them back together, this fixed my issue I hope this may help :)
That true. Sometimes reverting back to default is the ticket to see where a mistake was made. I’ve spent so much time looking at batch files for people, the syntax errors almost jump off the page at me.
For sure one of the best, if not the best, on Rust Servers. I appreciate the time you invest on teaching the community the ways of your work and how to execute properly. I'm trying to install a !pop bot on my server without using RustAdmin, is there a way I could integrate this command on smartchatbot and if so how could I do it? I appreciate any help u can bring!
Quick question is it ok to run a local host server or should I get a paid subscription if I want to make a good server for the public. And how many people can u get on a server with 16 gb ram and a good internet connection? Thanks for any help in advanced ❤️ Love da vids.
Well that's up to you really. I suggest everyone start out with a local host server. It's "free". Only costs power, internet and wear and tear on your computer. The number of players is directly tied to your internet. Keep in mind, most servers out there that populate above 200 players, are using gigabit connections. Is that required? Maybe, maybe not. Combine the number of players connected with the number of entities, that's a ton of information going back and forth to your server. Smooth gameplay is key. If your players are finding your server is skipping, stalling and stuttering, they won't stick around for long.
I'd like to thank you for these videos as they did help me understand plugins more. If its not to much to ask can you have a video on event driven plugins such as "Dangerous Treasures" how the different ways you can config it? I'm still a bit rusty in some areas, and my biggest issue is dealing with permissions (Currently working with the video you made on the tool for it).
Just give up and go play something else, because nobody cares about helping someone else actually learn how to config plugins...everyone is too self-centered, wanting to appear to be a genius, and helping someone else learn what they know would just undermine their overall purpose, which is to look better than everyone else in the first place. The world is a horrible place, and people are the worst of all created beings. Buy a dog or a cat and just play with them instead. Games are just for competition, and nobody wants you to win. Truth hurts.
I have built my entire channel around helping people. I have a discord full of member that want to help others. I’m really sorry that you have this opinion of the world. I assure you, there are people out there that truly want to help you succeed.
Hello, I'm thinking about making my own server "for free"so I am doing some research. And i would like to know how fast my internet should be or need to be and If i run the server would it affect my game meaning "lagg" , "ping" .
Internet speeds are important. If you think, people could be connecting from literally anywhere in the world. So connection is very important. I’ve ran servers on 50 up/down but I’ve ran into lag issues when pops get up over 50, with a lot of bases an other entities. So I switched to 75 up/down and did okay there. That all being said, moving to a host with gigabit takes all those worries away. Then you just get to have fun 😀😀
Thanks for the updated guide! I'm going to attempt to automate things and deploy it on a docker container but already seeing few snags along the way like preventing player tick kick. First time dockerizing anything game related but familiar with devOps. And then hopefully utilize IaC/CaC to host on aws/azure. I'll hit up on discord if I'm really stuck lol also, wow my name is there on the end credits :P
Good luck. I feel that you’ll be successful. Secret tip, automation video coming soon. It may be helpful to you. The names at the end of videos are Patreon members. So if you’re a member, thank you for your support. I appreciate you❤️

awesome video, thank you! I’m aiming to create a new server for about 100 players and will want external hosting. Can I initially build (add mods, etc) locally as you’ve shown, then go ahead move it to be hosted elsewhere for the public launch?
As long as your port forwarding is done correctly, it will appear on the list for everyone that is not on your local network. If you'd like to see it show up, you can use this work around: ruclips.net/video/LwgDJt8b1bI/видео.html
first of all i wanna say ty for all the information you share , i have a question , i'm new to this aria so don't mind if it's nooby , why everyone start with steam cmd and all this steps ? because the rust setup that is on facepunch site will download game and create steam cmd and use it , also it create update bat file, start server bat file and etc by himself and you don't need all that steps , you just extract the facepunch rar file , put your elements you need like 17:00 in Run_DS bat file and done, it going to do all that steam things for you
The run_ds file does all the same stuff it just does it behind the scenes. My method shows what’s going on behind the curtain. Both ways work. I wouldn’t say one way is better or worse than the other. Maybe run_ds method is a slight bit easier?
@@srtbull you good bro , i ask that because i want to know if there is any advantage in this steam cmd method that i miss but i think there is no advantage for me because i did it with both ways and after all i had experience with linux also i was familiar with cmd in windows , but surly the run_ds is way easier for new people and it automatically update and reset the server for vanilla after an update is out
Fantastic video, Im grateful for the knowledge you are providing. I thought I had followed exactly. However, I got to the end of the set up. Between Server startup completed and steamserver connected I have a whole bunch of red text. Failed to set up server registration with lots of text, followed by end of stack trace from previous location where exception was thrown. The server says its connected with Bradley as well. When I try to connect it try's to connect me to a Amsterdam server. Any suggestions? Anything will be greatly appreciated!
The Amsterdam II don’t worry about that. In fact I even go over that in another video. ruclips.net/video/LwgDJt8b1bI/видео.html If you need assistance with your red letters I can work with you on that in Discord. It’ll be a lot easier to go back and forth.
@@srtbull Yeah I think I may have messed up yesterday. Re loaded the startup file ran good but I guess there was a message saying my file space was running out. Im actually in the discord support voice 1. And as always I appreciate all of your information!
I keep getting red text when I start my server that reads "ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Papameter name: shader" what should I do to fix it.
This is not something you have control over. As long as you are able to connect to it, it’s visible to everybody, within range. An empty server will not populate on the list for anyone anymore. So make sure you’re in the server and other players will then be able to see it. This was a change done by Facepunch a couple updates ago.
Hi there.... following along nicely (first time server operator) and appreciate you detail.... where i got lost is in connecting to server via Rust. I'm running the server on a second machine. I'm not sure of IP address. And once I have that address, not sure what the actual command in console is to connect. Any help would be appreciated!
You’ll have to get that IP address. You can simply go to ipconfig on the machine hosting the server. Once you have that you would use the command client.connect {hostmachineip}:28015
Hello. What do you suggest for cpu cores and "decent amount or RAM" for 100 players servers? I'm hosting servers on a dedicated vmware host, running linux servers. I'm planning to host multiple Rust servers on the same machine. I have read that Rust Server needs the fastest single core performance? so 1vCPU should be ok? thanks.
@@srtbull Thanks for your quick reply! I'm hosting this at home so there are no money issue here. I went with 6Gb of RAM, 1vCPU and 60Gb on disk space on a 3700 map size.I'll see how far I can go with that.
Your videos are very good explained and you have a good content for recent players/admins of Rust servers. I have a question for you, you know what I need to show my server on Rust servers list?
Then it automatically show on the rust server directory. If it isn’t for you, it’s only a distance/ping issue. You’re just too far away from the host or there’s too many other server closer to you than yours.
I know what is the problem. Is because i was using server.insecure 0 and server.encryption 0 variables because im EAC ban (im in appeal process because i dont use cheats but whatever). I still using server.eac 0 but still i cant connect, you know other var for allow EAC banned players in my server but still appearing on server lists?
Just wanted to say thank you so much for replying to my comment in your prev video, it now works 100% my only question now is...what information do i give players to join my server. what do i tell people to do to join my server. thanks again!
Is this still valid, cos i have done every step literally made location and names for everything i have seen in this video at least 6 times and still have not gotten past the force_login_dir before logging in prompt...lol please help Sir
AWSOME VIDEO AS USUAL QUESTION i run a dedicated server atm streamline servers in aus (tcadmin), and ive had a custom map made for it but i want to testit first on the above free server i have just made the map file is uploaded to dropbox atm but how do i use it to test my event prefabs and mods before loading up to my main server
I know that a lot of content creators use that/those server(s). There were some rules out in place to make it almost RP. But I’ve heard the rules weren’t enforced therefore weren’t followed. I’m not sure what their plans are, going forward.
If I wanted to Add NPC's(Scientists) to certain specific Monuments or key Locations, and they would Respawn regularly like Any other Monument such as the OIL rig? like if I want scientists to reside and respawn at Oxum gas station the same way that they reside and respawn at the Oil Rig? Should I have that Type of Capability if I am (Locally) hosting a server on my own PC(Through your Process)?
Also I want to better Understand the "small Risk" you referred to(2020 video) regarding the server Ports/rcon ports. Should I be concerned if I am hosting on my Computer, and should i be using the Port Number you Provided(28015)? do i need to use a Specific Port Number? where would i find Said specific Port number info?
I followed step by step 4 times, then tried other videos which had other issues. I've spent over 7 hours trying to get my small custom map with some prefabs loaded into a server to actually check it and run around the buildings. best I got was a proc gen map server running but I was not able to join it
We can fix all of this. How much time have you spent learning RustEdit? There are specific parameters that have to be met in order for a custom map to load correctly and for you to be able to spawn on it.
I am considering running my own server and have joined your discord, appears all communication channels are locked? I couldn't find anywhere to grab admin's attention to see if I need to verify in some way. BTW you are invaluable! I am loving all the tutorials. Cheers if you can help me with your discord.
actual question!!! Q: if drawing a seed for a proc gen map, what purpose does the do? ive only made custom maps if i want a procedually generated map do i need that? also is stalling the server what happens when i get kicked for packed flooding nvm i hadnt watched far enough ahead
Hi! Great video! Just one question, i cant start it because when i run the startup.bat file it says "+server.maxplayers' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." and ive tried to rewrite it, change the number but nothing works, so im just wondering how do i fix this?
hey love the vid but i have a problem when i start the bat file is launches and says C:\Program Files\RuatServer>echo off 'C:\Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
im wanting to start a server to do cinematics and in order to do that i need my friend to join. Ive tried countless ips and none have worked so am i looking in the wrong place for my ip or is this just not the video i should be following to get a server where just me and my friend can be in to do cinematics?
Steamcmd would be considered the platform on which we create a rust server. The rust server zip is either still using steamcmd in the background or they may have transitioned into using the uMod installer method. All will work but what I’m showing you is everything you need to know about the actual base platform. I’ve had people ask me to help them with the installer method. 9 times out of 10, it’s easier to switch to my method because you actually have your hands on the process. Instead of a batch file running the commands in the background.
@@srtbull for sure, thanks. Will definitely use this, I looked up and some of the plugins/mods used in oxide/umod. It overwrites over them while using the rust server zip server files. I joined the discord because I came a crossed your server and one of your golds told me to check you out!
I've got my server to a point that I can connect using the IP address and port rather than localhost. Other people aren't able to connect and it still doesn't show up on the server list. I've port forwarded the correct ports and I've made sure I'm using a static IP so it doesn't change. I have firewalls off and defender too, and everything is up to date, including my friends games. Is there any other reason they wouldn't be able to connect?
@@srtbull I have them both integrated into one device. Hey Bull, question in regards to a server that I've been locally hosting for a few months now. I just restarted it and got a error stating " socketexception: only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally allowed". Do you have any idea why this could be?
That tells me you have 2 things trying to operate on the same port. Usually when this happens it’s because there’s actually an instance of the server already running. Usually minimized. I’ve seen it happen more often than you would think.
hi srtbull i love this game, i just wanna play and build houses and try different types of models but i dont get that much time in my day and i can only play for 2-3hrs. so i wanted to know what will happen if i close the server console shutdown my laptop and start it again the next day, will my builds stay intact or the server will just wipe everything. 😊😊😊

@@srtbull welp, me and my friends been trying to make it work but they can't connect to my server. One of em joined but they couldn't move or do anything.
So what kind of resources does the vps have? If they can connect, that’s good. If they can’t do anything that would indicate a serious resource problem.
@@srtbull They only connected once but only one of them. Is "connect localhost: 28015" all they're supposed to type in the console? And allow them to at least connect?
Only people on your local network would be able to use the command with ‘localhost’. People not on your network will have to use your public ip address. Looks like this: Client.connect 1.123.1.123.1:29015 Obviously with your public ip though.
As of December 1st, 2021 - It seems as though SteamCMD wants us to define the folder location before logging in.
So it will now look like this:
force_install_dir DIRECTORYLOCATION
login anonymous
app_update 258550

@Chutzpah-Rust I do know of server owners that have tried this with not much success. The challenge is both the client and the server have to be running that version. It gets complicated and messy.
What aspect of 232 are looking to maintain?
Congrats. Now to just find players that have that version installed on their client.

I made my first modded server last month, your videos have been really helpful!
That’s great. That’s what it’s all about.
This is all incredibly great information. Thank you for adding this.

hey dude great content keep it up . could you make a video on how to make npc freely move around monument and attack players when they see them.
This is just a cvar you need to change in your startup file. It should look something like this:
+Ai.move true
It’s probably set to false right now.
I assume this is a hosted server through a hosting provider?
Watched this 3 years ago. Stopped playing this game, started again now, but couldn't remember what I was doing so here I am. One question "Because I'm am..." ??? :P Thanks again.
I’m confused, am I missing part of the question? Or did the video answer your question?
Remote desktop is so easy now with Win10. Perfect for this situation. No screen, mouse, keyboard needed. Fast and reliable.
You are absolutely correct. Works like a dream.
hey man, i have a question. How do i change server settings so when admins take items from the console, nobody sees it
You want a plugin called NoGiveNotice. This video will explain it. And give you all the details.

I have a problem with the server it's not starting but opening my rust game. Can I run both my rust I play and my server on the same system or do I need a pc just for the server. Plus can I use my server to connect and play other servers .
You can run the server and client in the same machine with no issues. What file are you opening to start your server?
I ran the exe file from the server. I think I should run the batch file now after watching the video again?
You will always run the .bat file that you create.

Hey Srtbull,
Thanks for the in depth guide on how to start my own private rust server. For the most part, everything worked without any issues! One problem that I'm having is with getting friends to connect. I typed in the command, client.connect myIPaddress:28015, however my friend couldn't connect.
Thank you again and please let me know,

Have you done your port forwarding?
@@srtbull Hi Srtbull, I am experiencing the same issue. I made sure to set up my port forward on my router as well. On the port forward settings on my router I have, "28016" as my original port and forward to port. I also have "28016" as my server port.
I am a little brain dead, how do i do the port forwarding so my 5 friends can join and play?

Yep. Truths spoken.
Great video! Desperately need a tutorial on how to set up the server when im paying a hosting service to host for me.
I have a version of that coming. Whether that will work with your provider, I can’t promise. But you should be able to extrapolate
Sounds good. It’s coming, I promise.
Quick question!
How would I go about changing the wipe time frame? like from weekly to monthly?!
Thank you!
You just have to wipe it yourself by changing your seed and then restart the server manually.
Yoo i just finished following your last one! You da man!

@@srtbull No problem! How would i go about making a clan system on my server? Do you have a video that covers this?
I haven’t covered clans yet. But you use clans on umod. It works well for most people.
Hey mr bull, thanks for the video! From your experience, what is the needed amount of ram for a 75-100 ppl server?
The only answer I like to give to this question is, as much as you can afford.
You are incredible man, Thanks for all your effort!
Thank you Nathan. I appreciate that.
Remote desk top info would be really helpful, some info on safely opening up connections to the great unwashed too. Thanks for the content!
hey! future man here. It did not go better then 2020 :)
So true right?
put "+server.maxplayers 100 " as the last thing on your batch file so you know if you messed up or not ("go to start" is last last)
Yep that’s a great way of showing an issue, if you have one. Great point.
a console admin here, and thank u
For sure one of the best, if not the best, on Rust Servers. I appreciate the time you invest on teaching the community the ways of your work and how to execute properly. I'm trying to install a !pop bot on my server without using RustAdmin, is there a way I could integrate this command on smartchatbot and if so how could I do it? I appreciate any help u can bring!
Because I’m getting so familiar with all of its uses, I would suggest setting up a BattleMetrics trigger. It’s glorious how well it works.
This is great video to star out!! Thanks SRTBULL!!!!!

The problem was that i didnt extract the folder so I had 2 cmd folders, great video by the way
Thanks for the updated guide! I'm going to attempt to automate things and deploy it on a docker container but already seeing few snags along the way like preventing player tick kick. I’m aiming to create a new server for about 100 players and will want external hosting. Can I initially build (add mods, etc) locally as you’ve shown, then go ahead move it to be hosted elsewhere for the public launch?
Yes. You can do exactly that. There’s a bit of monkey business involved but it can be done. I’ve done this with several clients.
@@srtbull OK… possible to speak with you on how to do this? not sure if you’re interested in new clients.

As long as your port forwarding is done correctly, it will appear on the list for everyone that is not on your local network. If you'd like to see it show up, you can use this work around:
ruclips.net/video/LwgDJt8b1bI/видео.html
What is your definition of a decent internet connection? For example, can I run a 70 slot server on my pc with 10mbps upload speed?
first of all i wanna say ty for all the information you share , i have a question , i'm new to this aria so don't mind if it's nooby , why everyone start with steam cmd and all this steps ? because the rust setup that is on facepunch site will download game and create steam cmd and use it , also it create update bat file, start server bat file and etc by himself and you don't need all that steps , you just extract the facepunch rar file , put your elements you need like 17:00 in Run_DS bat file and done, it going to do all that steam things for you
The run_ds file does all the same stuff it just does it behind the scenes. My method shows what’s going on behind the curtain. Both ways work. I wouldn’t say one way is better or worse than the other. Maybe run_ds method is a slight bit easier?
@@srtbull you good bro , i ask that because i want to know if there is any advantage in this steam cmd method that i miss but i think there is no advantage for me because i did it with both ways and after all i had experience with linux also i was familiar with cmd in windows , but surly the run_ds is way easier for new people and it automatically update and reset the server for vanilla after an update is out
I’m totally cool with that. There’s always more than one way to accomplish a job.
omg thank you so much i was trying to make a sever since i got rust

oh my god, i need your direct help so badly mr knowledge god
ive been trying to use shockbyte, but i cant get my server to appear on the rust community server list for other people around the world to join
This is not something you have control over. As long as you are able to connect to it, it’s visible to everybody, within range.
An empty server will not populate on the list for anyone anymore. So make sure you’re in the server and other players will then be able to see it.
This was a change done by Facepunch a couple updates ago.

'C:\Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
But does it eventually roll passed that point and start the server anyway?
im wanting to start a server to do cinematics and in order to do that i need my friend to join. Ive tried countless ips and none have worked so am i looking in the wrong place for my ip or is this just not the video i should be following to get a server where just me and my friend can be in to do cinematics?
Have you completed your port forwarding?
What's the difference from SteamCMD set up and Rust server zip?? Aren't they the same or no for setup?

Is there any other reason they wouldn't be able to connect?
The only thing that can prevent connection is firewalls.
Do you have a modem and a router? Did you put the rules on both?
@@srtbull I have them both integrated into one device. Looking on the dashboard for my hub there's only one option for firewall which I have set to "low" and it should allow connections to and from it. Is it possible there is a setting I cannot change controlled by my internet provider? Thanks for the quick reply
You need to able to allow a specific rule. A specific application allowed access on a specific port number.
Great Content Mr. Guru !
Was looking only for a program to create a enviroment to test my custom maps. But this opens more opportunitys!

Yes yea. Sure did. Glad you found it 👍👍
Is it possible to run the rust server on a separate computer and play it on another using the same steam profile?
You don’t require a steam64id to host a server. Therefor the answer to your question is yes. Host the server on one computer and play on another.
@@srtbull alright awesome! Thanks man
Hey Bull, question in regards to a server that I've been locally hosting for a few months now.
😊😊😊
Just make sure you do a console save before closing your server down and everything will be exactly as you left it.
@@srtbull ok now I saved from console but how do I shut it down I have to switch off my laptop.
But when try to close it restarts again.
OH! dont worry found it in the comment section
thanku srtbull 👍❤❤❤❤❤😍
Thank you for the information
Happy to help
If i host a server using my own pc.. can i switch off my pc? Will the game still be running for other players?
Negative. Pc must be on and server console running in order for people to be able to play it.
happy with all videos you post but really struggling to make this work, keeps saying - please set the game install path to something other than the steam install folder. am i doing something wrong tried a few times now. any ideas please
Sorry for the delay. I'm glad you got it sorted though.
@@srtbull its no problem your videos have been a massive help in setting my server up thanks for the reply tho
Hello, excellent video server is up and running followed everything to a T and im currently on it now but my friend cannot find my server.
Have you completed your port forwarding rules?
@@srtbull yes I found your port forwarding rule and we’re live. You did an excellent job. Thanks and I hope you get paid the big bucks for what you do.
That’s great. Good job. Have some fun with it.
Hello there!
I built a server using Linux GSM, on a pc with CPU:6 vCore
RAM:18 GB SSD:160 GB Bandwidth: 400 Mbps. But with now for some reason with 80 player 500ms and impossible to play because of lag. How can I know if server is under ddos attack? And how to secure it?
Thanks!
Is this on a local host?
What’s your internet speeds?
You’ll know if you’re being ddos attacked when after a couple minutes it clears up or knocks you completely offline.
@@srtbull Hey! Thanks for reply! No, it's not local, it's a server. I have 600mb, not only me who have lag, everyone on server have lag, have tried to get a resolution for this problem but... Nothing. Also tried to do a speed test on server and results are 400Mg, so... I don't understand what's is wrong :/. It's not about people because sometime we are 100 and eventually lag start, and often we are 30 and same. I don't understand.
Thanks,

is it possible for your friends to connect to your pc to join your server using Hamachi or some other app?
A lot of server owners use VPS. I haven’t tested hamachi specifically, but I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work.
Cause for me, no matter what I type in the console, i always get in.. As long as i type the port. Could a reinstall and redownloading all the files that I need fix it? And allow them to at least connect?
Only people on your local network would be able to use the command with ‘localhost’. People not on your network will have to use your public ip address. Looks like this:
Client.connect 1.123.1.123.1:29015
Obviously with your public ip though.
I cannot wait for Late 2024, to See what srtbull has in store.
