Ive submitted books on 9.8 prescreens and had some returned unslabbed. I sent them in again with another batch and got the 9.8. its too bad the graders dont all have the same standard. Nice newsstands by the way. Thanks for the fun videos.
Love your excitement and passion for the hobby. You should def make a video for beginners on how you choose books to submit, how to grade, and what are 9.8 contenders!!
Another great video; disappointed on that Daredevil 183 at 9.6. I'm convinced that CGC may sometimes grade to a curve especially if it's a popular/big book.
Congrats! I loved every book. Especially the Transformers. I have all of the 1-4. Graded and raw. I'll have to look if they are newsstands or not. Do you have any GI Joe? I'm thinking you've featured some before. Take care!
The one I use is on my website, improvecollecting.com. Unfortunately, it's been on backorder for awhile. No, they are not all the same... REALLY hard to find a good one
I'm amazed they did not give you 9.9s on some of those books. Makes me less trustful of their grading scale. I think of CGC grading as more of a generalization.
I understand late '80s and early '90s newsstands being worth more. But I don't understand why early '80s newsstands are worth more. I believe direct and newsstand had similar distribution numbers in the very early '80s.
You are too good with grading to waste money with paying for pre-screens. I've never pre-screened. I buy books clean/slab/sell. I try to avoid coin flips on lower level books that must get 9.8s to make a decent profit. If they fail to get a 9.8 most still break even or close to. If I spent $8 to pre-screen books I would lose $$.
CGC HAS HAD MY BOOKS FOR OVER A MONTH AND A HALF. THEY HAVE BEEN SITTING IN GRADING AND SLEEVING WITH NO MOVEMENT .. EITHER THEY ARE REALLY BUSY OR I AM STUCK WITH ONE HARSH GRADER TAKING THEIR TIME..ALL THE GRADERS ARE NOT THE SAME AND DO NOT SEE FACTORY DEFECTS THE SAME. I HAD A GIJOE #2 SUPER CLEAN AND 9.8 ALL THE WAY. AND IT CAME BACK 8.5 WITH NOTES SAYING FACTORY COLOR SCUFF BACK COVER. SHOULD NOT HAVE AFFECTED THE GRADE BUT IT DID WE WILL SEE..
Are they custom label books? I've had a few stuck with CGC far longer than they should have been and after contacting them several times they confirmed that the books are in a holding pattern while they await the arrival of custom labels, which apparently they ran out of.
Cgc has 3 graders appraise each comic. The avg. Of the 3 grades makes up the final grade. So, remember guys, the grade given isn't decided by a single grader who is evaluating your comic book.
I think graders notes are more important to have on a CGC 9.6 book than it is to have them on any book lower than a CGC 7.0.
Agreed. Anything less than a 10 should have grader's notes since there is something keeping it from being a 10.
Agreed, if they give it a 9.6 or 9.4, they need to explain why. It is very important for the buyer

Sure you did. And we should take some random a-hole on the internet's word for this.
Congratulations bro-nice books and nice grades! 👍🏾😀
congrats! I agree I would never sell my transformers #1 9.8 and I'm glad you got one now too!

I definitely plan to!

I must say I would love to have a transformers. #1 in a CGC 9.8. Enjoy it and I agree it’s a keeper.
i submitted 4 books through my LCS over a year ago, i received 2 of the 4, i’m still waitin on my first havok n forst WWBN
Your excitement on the Transformers #1 was great to watch.
Take the easy graders whenever you can 🎉🎉
Congrats!
Excellent work, there is my childhood in those Transformers books, I totally understand how you feel with that 9.8🎉🎉🎉🎉enjoy
Love those Transformer books. I have quite a few I need to grade one day.
That Daredevil 184 is gorgeous 🙂
Nice submission!

i bought a 9.6 #1 RAH to try and get a bump! The thing is perfect!
Great video and newsstand is my weakness
Same here
The Daredevil 184 looked like the case was cracked on the back lower right corner
Wow, I hope not.. I sold that book a long time ago
Great results! I'm more shocked tho how you were able to buy a NM Transformers #1 for only $60. Was it ebay??
It was packs of #1, #2, and #3 that sold for about $180 a pack. It was a great deal! Yes, eBay
About to watch the video and I hope you didn’t get Harsh Harry or Loose Larry.
I’m rooting for Accurate Andy. 😊
Accurate Andy! Nice one!
@@ImproveCollectingComics Thanks! 😀
Is it common nowadays that people only chase 9.8 grades and never read their books?
Most people, like me, have a "reader" copy and then try for a high grade "presentation" copy to display
You would be CGC number #1 grader if you worked there. There isn no one else who I would trust grading my books
hahaha, sure. Yeah this guy is the best of the best hahaha
Wow, thanks for the vote of confidence
@@ImproveCollectingComicsI was being extremely sarcastic.
Those Transformers 3-packs are paying off big time, whoever sold them lost out on thousands of $$$.
Well, he probably paid like $100 for the box in 1985ish, and sold all the lots for like $10,000.. so in his mind I think he thinks he made a killing
What other defects were in that transformers 1. $60 raw for a nm, wow.
A couple tiny spine ticks on the back, a bindery ding, and a common defend near the boys face on the front. Pretty perfect otherwise
I think you did well considering you forgot to prescreen.
cbcs is gaining ground on cgc
Like in what regard? They still sell considerably lower as far as sales.
Have Question? What tack iron do I use or they all the same?

I am pretty sure I will never see a 9.9
That booger has bugged me for decades.
Can't trust CGC that transformer 1 definitely not a 9.8 with that spot on back cover, 😅😅😅😅😅

Has to do with the deadly spinner rack and kids folding over the top of comic to see the comic behind it.
Exactly!

ITS BAD.. I WANT MY BOOKS.....HAHAHA@@Comicbookyoutubersrock
@@90MHOTMUDDon't worry, you'll get them back eventually haha. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the end result, well hopefully!

Being from the 80s, it's probably a coke booger...
Well that's just nasty lol

I think their current language is that 'at least 2 graders' will evaluate your books.
I really find it hard to believe.. based on how inconsistent the grading is
