    The shades are a nod to Space Runaway Ideon which had a visor head with the same effect when it fired its devastating gun. Since changing the iconic face to accomodate a visor was out of question they added the shades.

    As usual, RoboToyWorld provides us one of the most professionnal and polished videos of this magnificent toy from Takara. So glad that you could come back to your community my friend. Contrary to other YT reviews, I appreciate that you clearly explain the transformation, step by step, warning about the tricks that may damage the RB-GX. The comparison between Reboot and Vintage versions is a real exclusivity of the channel, very interesting to understand the challenge that TT ingeneers had to face with this Reboot line. In my view, both versions are 10 years ahead of the competition. Long life to your great channel. Friendly & Warm Regards from France ;-)

      You're absolutely right, it is definitely a cool feature and I'm really impressed that it does it that way. But I think I've only ever done it that way once when I first got it and once for the video :) One of the best thing about Diaclone is that it's different things to different people. There's so many different qualities to the line that different aspects appeal to different folks, but there's a common thread of appreciation for the love and care that the designers at TakaraTomy are baking in.

    I’m looking forward to that massive sword coming later this year. This has been such a fantastic line. I can’t wait to see what classic Diaclone toy the wizards at Takara decide to update next. To my knowledge, the major remaining robots that haven’t received updates are Dia-Attacker, Gats Blocker, and Fortress Robot X. I can definitely foresee Fortress X as possibly DA-125 or DA-150 to be the next major piece after Robot Base. And that’s assuming they don’t split it up into two separate sets like they did Ground Dion and Sky Fortress.

    13:45 I know you say that you don't use this feature because it's more for roleplay but... How cool is it that the weapon moves on rails and detaches in a way that is totally believable? He literally reaches behind his back and the system attaches it. Part-forming with lore!

    Ive had this figure for several months now and i can confidently say it can hold an action pose on a shelf without worry as long as you keep knee bend to a minimum and his weight is evenly distributed but make sure he is on a grippy surface like a large mouse-pad or other rubber mat.

    Great review of the Diaclone robot base GX. I saw in the background that you also have the Diaclone Robot Fortress X. Are you going to review it sometime soon?

    • @robotoyworld
      @robotoyworld  16 дней назад

      Hey thanks for watching! So my Fortress X isn't complete - I actually got scammed on Yahoo Auctions... twice! Both times the listing was mint, and I was sent a broken shell as well as some random unrelated bits of plastic to fill in the accessory slots. Both were different sellers, different photos, months apart, good ratings etc.
      Thankfully I used Paypal so it was refunded (both times) and I was able to keep the (near) worthless bits they sent me. Out of the two I've fashioned something that can sit on the shelf but it's certainly nowhere near being able to give viewers an impression of what the real toy is unfortunately.

  • @Freefall347

    I do find him to appear a little top heavy, but for me I like the DA-99 upgrade set for the extra display area, and it bulks up his legs as well, so that made me pretty satisfied. The combined weight does bug me though. I was messing with him at one point and bent one of the knees a click, and the whole thing collapsed on itself. No damage done, but it does make messing with it difficult. I really wish they had found a way to make Cloud Across lighter in weight, both for the sake of combined mode, and because moving it around by hand is kind of strenuous (never mind the issues of trying to find a display stand for it or something).

    • @robotoyworld
      @robotoyworld  Месяц назад +1

      Yeah that has been my experience, that the legs can give out at any point while posing. I don’t think it’s a fault of the figure, just how it is. I have been super happy just putting him back to what I call a static pose at the end of the day and plonk him on a shelf. Throughout some of the more dynamic shots I was ready to jump in front of the camera to catch him should he have fallen but it was solid pretty much throughout, so maybe it’s not so risky once you’ve found his balance.
      Definitely DA99 gives him some leg bulk. I’ll get that in the next vid. Thanks for taking the time to comment 🙂

    I have the utmost respect for your taste, photography, and talent, but I must quibble on several points here.
    1. Across this whole series, you never showed the Ground Dion’s forward cannons in their intended positions in either of the main modes. In vehicle mode, they’re meant to slide further back, where tabs and slots lock them into position on the toes for greater rigidity of the whole forward section. In robot mode, they’re meant to point straight down to create a less aggressive-looking default kneecap shape.
    2. Robot Base is extremely able to stand safely without the extra leg brace parts. I think the best way to achieve this is with the legs slightly spread, and the toes pointed slightly outward using the mid-thigh rotation joint. An overwhelming proportion of people get this wrong, but the leg brace pieces are strictly optional, not mandatory, and the joints are of course designed to be able to support the figure’s full weight. It would be unthinkably absurd if they couldn’t. I tried the reinforcement parts once and then put them back in the box forever. They’ll keep a less intuitive person safer, but if you have a good perception of balance and friction, you don’t need them, and that especially includes the kind of slightly spread-legged pose found in official photography, because that’s *more* stable than a brick pose, not less, because it puts the focal angle of potential backward force underneath the center of balance. But if you instead keep the toes pointing straight forward, you delete that focal angle from the physics of the whole thing, and that makes it far easier to fall backward.
    3. The head is indeed able to angle slightly downward by pulling it upward and forward first. The neck is on a subtly hidden double-hinge, which you can see easily if you tilt the gaze up. Once you see how that joint is built, it’s clear that it facilitates as much downward gaze as could be useful to look down over that protruding chest.
    4. I think you mentioned your frustration with breaking that rear deck panel three or four times, but it never would have occurred to me to move that in the wrong direction. The instructions are clear, and it just does not look like the type of joint that folds upward.
    5. Much like the way the arm can cinematically attach the freezon cannon, the official animation also shows how the upper scout fighter craft can move directly from the head to its rear docking point, by pulling it into place while the head is slid fully backward.
    Now, to complete the compliment/criticism sandwich: I still think your style is awesome, and your videos are the specific reason I took the leap to collect this series two years ago. You’re the only Diaclone reviewer I enjoy listening to.

    • @robotoyworld
      @robotoyworld  Месяц назад

      Thanks for watching, and genuine appreciation for the feedback (and the sandwich)!
      Some great observations. I had no idea the head lifted like that - is it in the manual? It's only about 1 or 2mm but I agree it gives you a very slight downward angle. I just did it on mine and it was super stiff, which is why I didn't discover it. Maybe my eyes are just no good but I find it impossible to make out half the stuff in the Diaclone instructions.
      You are 100% correct about the cannon orientation... I never noticed Land Dreadnought had the cannons pushed further back. Similarly with the Robot mode I've always displayed with DA-98 (double cannons) and when using just the one cannon set I've overlooked the correct orientation.
      Maybe no one else will flip those stern ramps up but I like to think that I am really careful with my figures and still I managed to screw it up. I also let my kids play with these at times so I kind of take note of these things so I can articulate it to them in terms of where they need to be careful. Likewise that front windscreen on Cloud Across' bridge, I think could be pushed too far forwards if not careful.
      Cheers and thanks again :)

      I think the US stocks might have just dried up, so it is places like Japan or HK so you're almost paying as much for shipping as you are the toys. There does seem to be a few around though so for anyone travelling I guess filling suitcases is an option... it almost gets to the point where you can get a free holiday out of it if you compare it to the resale prices!

      I’m in two minds… I prefer LEDs but I think they (the designers) are probably in favour of the practical design of light pipes? Don’t have to mess with batteries and switches etc.
      Diaclone as a whole seems very “unbatterylike” if that makes sense? The wind up motors and stuff could all be battery powered too but they’ve chosen not to. Or maybe I’m finding excuses for them…
