We had players like Asparuhov, Kotkov , Iakimov, Sokolov, etc. who were wanted by teams like Milan, Barcelona, Bayern, but of course it was not allowed to leave Bulgaria to Western football team back there during the communistic regime.Bulgarian team was very good skilled, but of course not compared to Germany, Netherlands, Portugal , Brasil or Hungary. Nowadays football level is just lower than the football 50 years ago, it is just much more agresiv and fast.

Yes, it's surprising isn't it. Mind you, it was only yesterday that I read that in 1978 a match between France and another team- might even have been Bulgaria- had a strange kit problem. Both teams had arrived with only white kits, so France had to wear the colours of a local club side! It was, apparently, the fourth and last time that a country has had to do this in the world cup.
