    I love this company. They make incredible guitars that are comfortable to play, sound great, and look fantastic. Additionally, their commitment to high quality and attention to detail is very clear, you can tell how much they care about their guitars. I love my S2, best guitar I've ever played. Thanks PRS!

    I truly enjoy the "eye on detail" at this proud American company! Kudos to all of you hard workers at PRS! Wonderful job on the production crew in making this video also...it makes my decision in buying a new guitar MUCH easier! Everything a musician could ask for!

    Best guitars in the world, no doubt. After playing many, many brands of guitars, from Fender to Jackson to Gibson, the only guitars that feel comfortable to me as soon as I pick them up have been PRS guitars. They are perfect from craftsmanship, to playablity, to tone. This video is a true testament to the quality of these guitars. I love it!

    Quality control at nearly every step, and so much work put in. I think the price is justified.

    • @aDotFromTheFuture
      @aDotFromTheFuture 9 лет назад +2

      Ketan Pathak The machines do all the hard work, and the amount of work is the same, as in a much cheaper guitar that's made in China. So the price is definitely not justified.

    • @Dreamdancer11
      @Dreamdancer11 9 лет назад

      Ketan Pathak i agree as long as they dont sell it also as a superior sound machine cause at the end of the day the meat and potatoes stuff that make a guitar sound great arent that expensive.

    • @leanderjohnsen8339
      @leanderjohnsen8339 9 лет назад

      aDotFromTheFuture quality of raw materials and quality control does make for a better product than plywood and poor quality die cast hardware and low level electronics. Few guitars out of china have the level of playability of an instrument built by pros. Fretwork will be hit and miss, and often the neck has a backbow to it. Indonesia is the best place for budget guitars. Even better than korea.

    • @aDotFromTheFuture
      @aDotFromTheFuture 9 лет назад +1

      Leander Johnsen I'm not talking about Chinese counterparts made in some mega factory by ten year old's. There are some very good quality guitars made in China (Squier for one), that do use lower quality parts yes, but they still produce quality instruments. PRS might use the best components possible, but that definitely won't justify them being 10+ times more expensive. I do agree that the cheaper counterparts may have some problems with the frets and whatnot, but a quick visit to a luthier will fix those problems quite cheaply. And just to specify, no one builds guitars out of plywood.

    • @leanderjohnsen8339
      @leanderjohnsen8339 9 лет назад

      Didnt consider the squiers and their equals. Thanks for reminding me. They are pretty tops for playability and quality. Lots of guitar for the money in a squier.

    Man, I love the amount of work that goes into the finishing and polishing of these guitars. PRS has probably the nicest high-gloss finishes, besides Gibson.

    • @PikkaBird
      @PikkaBird 2 года назад

      I definitely think they beat Gibson on gloss finishes any day. I see so many little blemishes on pretty much all Gibsons, and their bursts are often quite uneven, which you would never see on a PRS (or even an Epiphone).

    look is important, and it's a point everyone considers when buying a guitar, no matter if conscious or unconscious. also, it's a statement to the craftmenship and quality if there are fancy, perfectly worked bindings, perfect finishses bringing out the grain of the wood, complicated inlays etc. nobody says you must buy a prs, but like i said, you cannot deny the extraordinary quality of materials and build on them. and prs also uses more subtle woods and solid finishes on some of their guitars.

    I was thinking the same thing the O.H &S is extremely inconsistent in the PRS factory, the guy in the spray room is wearing a TShirt, and short gloves. Some people have protective equipment whilst buffing while others don't. I hoped PRS cared a bit more about their employees. I hope these guys have a good medical plan, some of them may need it.

    not only beautiful, but good sounding. there is some vid where paul taps on a neck blank, and what you hear is a bell-like sound. you hear the quality of the wood. and playing guitar is a hobby for everyone, my old jackson js32 was a more than decent guitar for like 300 bucks. i'm not bashing carvin or something, and it's true, prs is not for everyone, but you cant deny the extraordinary quality of their guitars. if this quality is worth the money is another, personal question.

    Nice, another comment king that has not even 1 video posted to add to the community, yet has plenty to say.
    I'm not rich and I won't even play anything but my PRS Guitars. Once you go Paul, the rest just sound small. I guess it is an inconvinient coincidence for you, that amzing tone woods just also happen to be beautiful. Jackson and Ibanez and BC Rich make plenty of unattractive Glossy Black and neon guitars that should keep you wondering why you can't seem to stay in tune for a long time.

    it all depends on how you look at it. Gibsons ARE a good brand of guitar and feel wonderful with an unmistakeable tone.. but honestly, PRS guitars are put through alot more human-work than Gibsons, and you can tell. It's a certain craftsmanship out of PRS that you can't get out of any other guitar.
    If i had a choice between the two, i'd probably get a PRS.

    @XeroJager No better way to say the truth ! PRS is to my mind one if not the one guitar brand who reaches the artistic field of guitar making, whereas Gibson or Fender, even though these are great guitar brand, have not. You will never find a Fender of a Gibson with the same amount of passion and love an artist such as Paul can put into an instrument.

    You should clarify that its millionths of an inch thick (Im assuming), not "mils", because in metric countries "mils" means millimetres. 12 millimetre finish sounds bad. Im sure many people will realise its not mm (that would be an insane amount of fiinish) but sometimes you dont think about this stuff enough to clarify.

    Wow very much like Carvin builds theirs. PRS uses a little more hand build on theirs which probably accounts for the less accurate production and twice the price. For the money, i would buy a Carvin instead their just as nice and 1/3 the cost...oh wait I did buy a Carvin and compared it directly to my SC245 and quite honestly the Carvin was built better all around. I did love the neck profile on 245 more though, but overall hard to justify the extra cost...just saying

    They surely are beautiful instruments, and when I want to make smooth, bland and homogenised music played through shedloads of rack equipment into (no doubt) a mesa boogie amp, I'll buy one. What's that I hear? You disagree? Find me a Neil Young kind of guy who plays a PRS. You Can't. And an Angus Young while you're at it. Everybody knows that while he made great selling records with a PRS, Santana made better, more pure, ground breaking music before he played one. Before you say Santana...

    The pricing of these guitars is ENTIRELY justified, imo. People say “bwaaaa, you can get the parts, bwaaaa”. Right, fine but you’re paying for labor costs, attention to detail, massive quality control and 30+ years of ideas put into action. What about that? A group of guys spends several weeks making a guitar that’s basically perfect (I’ve had to set mine up about 5 times since I got it in 2002) and you dicks wanna bitch about price? Where did our pride in quality manufacturing go? Have these last couple of generations completely abandoned the concept of respect for the work of a gifted craftsman? It’s just depressing. I get being bummed out at not being able to afford one but there’s a huge difference between “I can’t afford that” and “that’s overpriced”.

    Too much frenzy i see in prs guitars' building process, i don't like it for over 2500$ guitars. Quality check ok, but looks like all about the numbers instead passion, at all. Where is the difference between musicman and gibson to justify the price twice on quite every model?

    • @lapelcelery42
      @lapelcelery42 8 лет назад

      +nerd Mike But can you really tell how much passion the workers have from a video like this? Surely the end quality is the only thing 'passion' could affect anyway, and that's fine?

    • @nerdMike
      @nerdMike 8 лет назад

      Passion is relative, the cost is the same or more of personal guitar craft by a luthier, but they do it in a product line. My only thinking is about the price doubled against a gibson or musicman, made in a similar way..

  • @aDotFromTheFuture

    Taping the binding before painting/dyeing is utterly pointless and a waste of time, at least if the binding is plastic. You still need to scrape the binding to get it to look even.

    • @ffakr
      @ffakr 8 лет назад

      +aDotFromTheFuture People mistakenly think that all plastic is non-porous. That's not the case. The last thing you'd want to do is dye a white binding, then find out you can't scrape off all the dye because it penetrated too deep.
      An excellent example of porous plastic, the film that's used to wrap red meat. It's permeable to O2.. so the hemoglobin in the meat becomes and remains Red under the plastic.

    • @aDotFromTheFuture
      @aDotFromTheFuture 8 лет назад

      +Schmartist Munky That is true, but the logical thing to do is to put an undercoat of lacquer (or shellac even) on the guitar, and then dye on top of that. That way, the lacquer protects the binding from the dye and after you have a nice color, you can scrape the lacquer very easily off the binding keeping it nice and clean, after which you can continue to your top layers.

      PRS 'binding' is actually just a strip of the body they mask off and paint around, its basically a stripe of un-coloured wood. They don't apply plastic like other guitar companies. That's why they usually call it "revealed binding".
      If there's a particular colour like "black-gold" which bleeds particularly well, they usually don't offer it with binding, because they can't mask it off reliably enough.

      lapelcelery42 It's still a binding no matter what it's made out of. Bleeding of the color is not an issue if you spray an undercoat of lacquer before the paint, which also makes the masking process pointless. You can have any color on the guitar with a clean binding, if you just do the process correctly, and don't rely solely (or at all) on masking.

      True, but you'd end up with that extra undercoat on the body. The amount of laquer on the wood is something PRS are probably trying to minimise.
      I was trying to get at the fact that it's actually not a binding at all on the PRS guitars. There's no extra material and nothing is getting bound. It just looks like "binding".
