    Without a doubt, the funniest Batman the Animated Series episode!
    “We’re broke, remember! What was I supposed to do? Fill the tank, shoot the guy and run off?”
    “NOW YOU TELL ME!”
    “Joker seeks new Henchgirl?”
    “I’LL KILL ‘IM!”

      Stuff like this is why I kind of wished they went through the Superman Animated show first. I don't know why people voted for a continuation of Batman despite clearly being the same canon and meant to have the Superman series in mind for a time skip, also would have given the guys some time to get used to the new art style. Plus the exclusion of the joint intro doesn't help.

    • @thewerewolff7248
      @thewerewolff7248 15 дней назад

      @@toonman5099
      Um i don’t think it was voted for. New adventures didn’t like win a poll or anything it’s just because it’s listed as BTAS season 4 (or 3 depending on the listing) they’re doing it as part of BTAS. Regardless again it’s really not a big deal since it’s a just a throwaway line.

    • @toonman5099
      @toonman5099 15 дней назад

      @@thewerewolff7248 Pretty sure they had a "What should we watch next?" styled video when the "Batman & Robin" portion of the run ended. Granted I'm also just talking about their entire thing of "getting used to the art style shift," not just the line. Because this part of the show doesn't continue right after the prior season, it sort of expected you to have watched at least a LITTLE bit of the Superman show because that's how they aired and how they structured the show because Batman was wrapped up in copyrights at the time. It's why early on in Superman and other Bruce Timm produced shows couldn't make clear "we're referencing Batman" moments. They had to do stuff like "that nut in Gotham City" in Superman or "That hero...is on another network" in Freakazoid.

    This episode was actually adapted from an old issue from the Silver Age comics I once happened upon while working in the library. Roughly half of the issue was on display here, the other half was devoted to the Joker performing different heists while trying to hide it was him.
    Naturally Harley wasn't around during that time so her inclusion gave this episode a fresh ending.

  • @Jjop017
    @Jjop017 29 дней назад +19

    I love how as soon as Joker became a millionaire he stops doing crime partially because he wants to get back at Batman by living well. It actually works! Batman is furious throughout the whole episode lol.
    I love a Joker that is a mix between mad clown and crime lord who does sometimes care about having clout a and wealth. It can give us stories like this episode verse when he is just played a monster clown who just cares about getting a big of a body count as possible as he can sometimes be portrayed as.

    • @WhiteFangofWar
      @WhiteFangofWar 15 дней назад +3

      Agreed. Anarchist Joker can be fun too but at some point you ask the question how he manages to pull off these comedic murders without any funds. It's also more of a fit in the animated continuity since this Joker started out as a mob enforcer for the Valestra family before his accident.

    • @Jjop017
      @Jjop017 15 дней назад +3

      @@WhiteFangofWar For me it can also get old. When we get a bunch of Joker events where his goal is to kill as many people as possible, destroy Batman on an emotional and or personal level, and keeps being this omniscience master strategist it can start to blend together and lose the unpredictability of the Joker. It is nice to mix it up with silly schemes like laughing fish or Joker trying to get revenge on a comedy club for booing him. Not every Joker scheme as to be the end of Gotham as we know it. There can be a charm to smaller Joker schemes too or have him care about being a respected crime lord.

    When Bruce mentioned Joker throwing him off a roof he was referring to the World's Finest three-parter episode from Superman The Animated Series. You guys are kind of watching the show in the wrong order because it's in a connect universe, the DCAU.

  • @josearnaldollerena
    @josearnaldollerena 15 дней назад +3

    Just so you know the lines between Bruce and Fake Joker :
    Bruce:The last time we met you tried to throw me off a building.
    Fake Joker: That was a long time ago.
    Bruce: It was last month
    That happened in the Superman /Batman crossover I warned you about.
    There's another one in these series with two characters from Superman series
    You know them from the DC series but one of them was originally exclusively created for Superman series and the background of the other one is quite different from her series. Nuff said!

    'Living well is the best revenge' -Penguin
    This does feel a bit disconnected from comics/film Joker who would burn money and feed a nosey IRS agent his own eyeballs for laughs, but it's a great comedy episode in the madcap WB Animaniacs/Freakazoid vein. Also potentially a lead into the World's Finest crossover since Joker becomes involved in that episode due to a lack of funds.

    A lot of people think that this is one of the best episodes , And I agree joker was pretty good in this episode overall with his character dynamic, And the twist that cabins at the end.I remember seeing this as a kid,Didn't make much sense to me.But now he's an adult.I realize how crazy it is, One guy hated the joker so much that he gave him everything including his Tax debts, And joker can't do anything about it because the guy is already dead, I think the only one character in the whole universe Beside him, was Charlie Collins, From joker's favor because he was the only other guy who got away with getting one over on the joker without Reprisal, In other words lose everything.

    My biggest issue with The New Batman Adventures (no, I’ll never call it BTAS season 3) wasn’t the new art style (although their Batman and Joker redesigns are lacking and were improved later during the JL era), it was the writing. This show was less continuation of the best Batman show and more spinoff from the Superman animated series running at the time, with the majority of the writers coming from that show.
    And then you have Paul Dini, who wrote many of the original animated series’ best episodes like The Laughing Fish and Heart of Ice, and he comes in and delivers a gem like this episode.
    I must stress, I don’t hate TNBA, but I do think it’s a weak sequel/continuation from how good BTAS was. Especially with how it ruined Mr Freeze. Here’s hoping they check out the crossover movie with Superman and Batman Beyond soon.

  • @toonman5099

    Yeah, not having watched the Superman animated show is probably gonna throw some stuff off (the being thrown off the building thing) because this portion of the show REALLY expected you to have watched the Superman one considering that's how the original airing date went. It honestly confuses me why people voted to continue Batman when Superman SHOULD have been the next thing to watch before this run.
