I agree! I think most people keep them as keepsakes. I have a couple that I made for practice and can't bare to throw away even. Gumpaste hardens so well, and should keep indefinitely- as long as you keep it away from humidity and direct sunlight. The colors will probably fade a little, sunlight would speed that up.
@M0N3t7 It can be really hard, at first, but it doesn't take too much effort to soften it. I've been making my gumpaste by adding Tylose to fondant, when I go to use the gumpaste sometimes it seems, at first, that it has dried out, or I over did the tylose... but knead in a little bit of shortening and it comes right back! Good Luck!
Yes, you can buy gumpaste. I'm not familiar with UK brands but Satin Ice makes it, Wilton has one (I'm not a huge fan), I believe Bakels makes one but does not have great review. It is sometimes called flower paste, mexican paste and there is a really strong version called platinum paste. What you can do, and I what I often do is mix in Tylose powder. I believe the recipe is 2-3 tsp per lb of fondant. You can also find recipes online. Nickolas Lodge's recipe has great reviews!
It's not trouble! The mold is by First Impressions, you can buy it on their website or any other cake supplier that sells that brand. I bought mine from Global Sugar Art. I just added links to the description box. Prices at both places online are comparable :)
Hmmm... I don't sell any supplies- you can buy them in a lot of different places Global Sugar Art dot Com... or even from First Impressions directly (first impressions molds dot com). And it costs about $11. If you mean how much for the finished baby? I think I charge about $12-$18 depending on the detail requested (wings, clothing, etc...). Hope that answers your question!
Thanks for the tutorial, I have the pink mold I've used it twice I done everything you did making sure that the fondant is pushed right down, and used a rolling pin on top, but the details don't show very clean and the foot falls off. I'm just wondering if I've bought a copy mold as every video I see there blue? And look better quality? Anyone else had this problem please. Thanks love your little baby though :)
Hi Shirley, unfortunately, I think you are correct and you've purchased a counterfeit product :( First Impression molds are excellent quality and always blue.

Yes, you can! It just might take a little longer than straight gumpaste to dry :)
