The guy that owns this amp is a great operator and a good friend who is now going to kick my arse on the air for dx even with your 400watt limit.
It appears very much like the Alpha 9500 and other models inside, similar build method, but considering Alpha contracted Acom to build the 91B, there is not mystery. Love both my Alpha and Acom amplifiers.
I've owned an Acom 1000 for over 10 years and it's been absolutely great. Go get one!
Thanks for this presentation! I JUST upgraded from a 572-b equipped Ameritron 811-a and purchased from a fellow radio club member his beautiful Acom 1000. Had hired electricians to get 240v into the station. This came with original packing and TWO NIB tubes. The amp was new in 2014 and is STILL on the original tube! I am a net controller for an HF net 3 nights a week, so the use pretty heavy duty! Still outputting nearly 1200w. Could not be happier !

I always found Andrews Comms to be very helpful. I bought gear from him and used to chat with him going back to when he was in a tiny little shop in Maroubra Junction.
A no BS guy who could seem abrasively direct at times, but I'll take a no BS bloke any day over those who are just pleasant for my money!

I have had a 2000a for a few years now. It's awesome. Acom support is great. I have a 1010 as well.
For over $7000 it damn well better be awesome. Holy crap!
Sweet big amp. The Rolex of power amps. At $7500.00 USD they are not cheap. But like anything built to this spec. you would not expect it to be. Thanks Brenton for the look. So now I am back to restoring my Collins 30L-1. 73 Joe
Those massive tuned coils are impressive.
They remind me of the swr coil on the base of the old Stationmaster.
And a beaffy transformer. Typical of the large current draw of a high power amp.

Good luck for the GU74 spare tubes, my next amp will be a solid state.... But yes it 's very nice product
i have 8 reserve tubes. Acom announced to start new batch production of gu74b tubes in china to factory spec. do not worry
I have yet to see any solid state be as clean as a valve. I know valve replacement can be costly. Best the crap outta them and yea, it'll cost ya. My al80a is still kicking 1kw and on the original tube exponentially cleaner than my pw1. On an sdr2dx and icom virtually indestinguishable from an anan with pure signal. Love my tubes!
