***** Personally, I think a couple of big flower boxes/planters on either side of the gate would really look nice, and add support to the fence at the gate.
MotherOfManyHorses I agree large planters on either side of the gates would make nice anchors. The Do It Yourself World You can build planter boxes out of pallet wood, put rocks in the bottom for drainage and weight and bolt them to anything that needs to be anchored. Then you have nice grow beds and anchors. ***after thinking on MotherOfManyHorses suggestion a bit more I am thinking a couple of big grow beds (maybe 2' x4 'x 3 ') along the fence line would be great to bolt the fence onto to hold it up off the ground, would give it stability, and give you better grow beds than the hanging window boxes. (Although using both big planters and window boxes would be nice)
The fence is developing nicely. The chicken wire in the new pallet fence will keep chickens out but won't keep Squeaky in - perfect. Yeah you're building a whole new world out there.
troy, if you want the weathered look for your picket fence spray the 'new" fence with chlorine and a little water mixture and your fence will all look the same .
Nice Job on the pallet fence Troy. I would raise up the gate off the ground a little so u have more clearance for snow or anything else. Keep up the good work my friend
Troy, the fence looks great. The metal stakes are too thin. If you can bend them with your hands the wind will do worse. Try and get some heavy duty galvanized water pipe to support your fence. Heavy duty water line is better than the stuff used on chain link fence. For the truck camper, blocks of wood or concrete blocks under the jacks will make it stable enough to load onto your truck.
The fence is coming out pretty well but the gate bracing is an eyesore Why not just use vertical metal stakes on either side? They make nice strong 6 foot ones at any garden center for cheap.
To Support the gate just dig a hole and set a post on small rocks. Just add ready-crete and some water. You don't have to mix the concrete. Home Depot has it.
Troy. Like the look of the fence. Like seeing you stay with one project until done. I do have a concern. Using the germ fence stakes to hold the pallets to the ground might not be the most reliable way. Think back into your past in the meadow. The wind has been extreme. It blew over your turbine tower yes it was not properly anchored but it also had some weight to hold it down. The picket pallet fence is a wall to catch the wind like a sail on a boat. I am thinking the stakes will bend as the fence pushed it and destroy all your work. Also during the winter the ground will freeze and thaw which will loosen up the stakes and the fence will not stand straight. That is why you anchor fence post with concrete and make sure they are deeper than the freeze line for the location. In your area I bet that is more than three feet.
What's up with that King's Highway, I always see it in the back round of your videos. You using it for storage, gonna refurbish and sell it off or what? I don't wanna distract you from your current projects, but I was just curious, I know you always think ahead so I was just wondering about it, if you had any future plans for it.
miss the solar updates and how it feels like to live off solar, you only show the bad part of solar, show the good, and how you are using the sun to provide and live off of, i think a lot of people would love a video like this, hope i helped you in some way God bless.
fliping720 Troy used to give us a daily update but the trolls kept saying that all they saw was solar stuff. I guess no one is going to be satisfied all of the time.
Vicki Olson The heck with the trolls. What do they know? Not much, it would seem. I think a 30 second or less mention of how the solar is holding up for those who are interested wouldn't hurt. He wouldn't need to show it every time. Just say how it's doing.
Vicki Olson You are right...we won't all be satisfied. But I also vote for a solar update soon. He used to do here's the weather, too. ..which usually is horrible so people said he was complaining, but I liked the weather reports, too. Makes me remember why I live in California. Sometimes we need to remember how blessed we are by seeing other people's struggles. That said, I want to see the solar working well, too.
***** That is a very nice compliment ! You just compared Troy to Sir Alexander Leslie who secured political and religious freedom for Scotland. Yes, I do realize you never intended such a compliment, but since your ignorance is showing I thought I would enlighten you.
Hi Troy ! I wonder why the two gates should NOT be like each other ... I think you forgot NOT to have a picket on the last board to the middle of the second gate you made - right ? The support for the gate is a far too much in your drivewa - I think ... there seems to be too little room for swinging a car through the gate and free of the SUV/van ... but it's not easy to avaluate on video. Congratulation on you getting the OWNER of the property ;-)) Now I don't think you have a LAND-lady any more - right ?
As already told to preppernurse1, it's enjoyable to hear the weather of other areas. So, maybe you could keep on telling temps and conditions of your area? :o)
This video was likely made just before the papers were signed, but I suspect since he called her the Landlady for so many years he will continue to call her that for awhile until it sets in she is now "the lady next door".
Oilyman: Awwww, what's the matter little man...can't handle it without loosing control? Hahahahahaha! Then go away troll! You've been banned long ago yet here you are running your mouth... very classy.
Oilyman: ssshhh calm down... let me help you... that button on your bed rail is to call the nurse. Go ahead, she won't mind. She will bring you a nice pill, I am sure... and probably change your diaper, too. Then you will feel much better.
Down In The Islands Well, he could have misspoke since he's been calling her that forever. Besides what else is he supposed to call her when everyone knows her as the land lady?

The Do It Yourself World Am impressed with all you can do with pallets.
***** i was thinking the same thing Ben, the chickens will just walk right up that board & hop over the fence.
Get a couple of gate wheels. That will make it work very smoothly.

you really should raise the gate section up off the ground level and give it good clearance to accommodate the snow buildup in the winter
Troy, so glad to see the place cleaned up and your fence progressing according to plan. WTG !
Good Job Troy! starting to look amazing, you surely are giving people lots of ideas...enjoy watching keep on keeping on buddy!
Thanks for all your work making your videos.

Great video Troy!! The fence and gate looks awesome!
your chickens will use the bracing for the gate as a ramp to get over the fence chickens are very cheeky.
Great video fence looking better all the time.blessings.
Looks great. God Bless and thanks for sharing.
Good lookin gate... I like that latch too I have used it before. Now I use chain and lock too many tree roots. Anyway good job!!
Very nice, indeed.

John Wright The Ribs look in good shape as I watch Troy drive in the stakes.
Looking good !!

SSanf I agree, solar is the reason i started watching troy back in the day with the homemade solar panel & coolant leaking old wood stove.

Why didn't you run a string line so that it would be straight

cool
"My landlady"
Not any more, Troy, not any more.
Do you take your clothes to a laundry mat? Just curious because I never see any clothes hanging out to dry.
Now everybody knows the secret of not rip knees on pants!
Like the idea but we didn't need to know about your car problems and the cuddly pets we just want to know about the fence
Well, it was always my daily life on the homestead along with projects. So for the daily viewers it made sense to talk about that at the time.
Chickens want to play with You :D
Landlady you told us you own the land now?
This video was likely made just before the papers were signed, but I suspect since he called her the Landlady for so many years he will continue to call her that for awhile until it sets in she is now "the lady next door".
rich k Oh, I am certain there is a great nashing of teeth in troll world.
oilyman: Oh, I thought ya'll say I AM Troy. So, I will just answer whenever I please... or when I happen to know the answer.

Free Music for your RUclips Videos Yeah two days ago I watched new video in which Troy says it is saturday while it is friday morning for me.
