- In the first vlog of our series at traveling midways we're taking a look at Russ Amusements. This smaller carnival midway has some decent classics including an Eyerly Loop-O-Plane (phone breaker), Round-Up, a classic Eli Ferris Wheel, Circus themed funhouse and more. The staff is very friendly and clean and the wristband prices are good. Join us as we take you on all the rides and give our review of this decent midway.

I'm traveling the northeast US to explore as many unique, interesting, fun or beautiful points of interest I can find. These include roadside attractions, museums, amusement/theme parks, fairs & carnivals, events/festivals, nature sights, hiking trails, nice towns, markets & more. My first area to cover will be the central Pennsylvania area and places near the Mason-Dixon PA/MD state line. My Hometown. I'm only about 4 miles away. I have not made it to the Hellam Carnival for about 7 years now. I save my money up for the York Fair that is about two weeks after this. But once they move the York Fair to July in 2020. This will be my new Fall Carnival I attend.

That's a cute carnival for kids ! Personally I need more thrill rides. The loop o plane is a classic though. I love classic rides, the rock o plane, sidewinder, cobra, skywheel, Trabant, zipper, and my absolute favorite ride ever the skydiver ❤❤
I used to work for this company and I operated the bears the kids dragon rollercoaster and the swings. I had fun working for them and most of all interacting with the families that's came

You should check out the Abandoned, Ps Yurnpike if you havn't yet. It's also known as the Pike2Bike. Out near Breezewood, Pa.

in Salem Oregon built that ride to test pilots for G force. Unfortunately they don't exist now. They built other carnival rides, like the octopus,spider, roll o plane, rock o plane, etc.and some kids rides.
Now theres a company called batech industries, that have the rigths to make the spider , octopus , fun slide , modern versión of the Huricane , round up renamed ( Zero gravity) , cliff hangar modern versión of the paratrooper enstead of seats like the old model your possitioned in a glider
Yes I do know about that company for many years because I live in Oregon City not to far from Salem Oregon where they build the rides. I used to work fo Fantastic shows and for Haworth/ Carnival Co..

That show owns a Zipper, which makes me wonder why it wasn’t there, probably not enough room. And you aren’t the only one that’s had a phone break on rides. A Hurricane ride claimed one of my good cameras and a phone.
Not enough room? Lol did u see how spaced out everything was? There was definitely room! The zipper is the best.
Naughtia Steffano there are certain laws regarding placement of rides, and how much space is required between the fencelines of some rides. Some rides, like the Hurricane to name one, have a much smaller fenceline diameter than the operating diameter per the manufacturer. Therefore more space has to be left for it than what the public may think is necessary if they see it not operating. There’s also a general rule of 6ft of space between kiddie rides and 12ft between major rides if the fenceline diameter is the same or within a few feet of the ride’s operating diameter. Furthermore, some states (WV being an example of one) also require a fire lane around the entire perimeter of the carnival midway and some of the walkways within the midway to serve as fire lanes as well. I work for a different show that operates in PA, MD, and WV and I often assist in putting some of the equipment on location on setup day, so I ought to be one to know how those rides need to be placed to comply with the laws. I’ve been involved in the industry since I was 7 and I’ve worked on the lots doing odd jobs since age 12. I didn’t physically handle the rides until I was 17 (the Legal age when you can set up and tear down in most states) and didn’t operate any until I was over 18, but I’ve been helping place equipment and guide the trucks for a lot of years. I’ve been very heavily involved in ride safety throughout my time in the industry, and am looking to get my inspector certifications from PA and the National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials (NAARSO) within the next year or two. But while I know a lot, I don’t know all and will never admit to knowing all. Sometimes in this industry it’s better to keep certain areas of knowledge secret to avoid making more work for yourself or getting handed more responsibility if you aren’t ready to handle it.
@@EclipseOfMusicDJ well since u work with shows around md. I live in dc and I want to know where a skydiver is. I haven't seen one in so many years since the 90s. I want to ride it. It's one of my favorite rides.
Naughtia Steffano Majestic Midways out of York, PA still has theirs at least for the time being, although it only comes out once or twice a year, usually in New Jersey. It’s for sale and there’s an interested buyer looking at it for once the pandemic is over. Lisko’s Amusements also has one, although it had some issues last year, not sure when or if it’ll be brought out again. Lakemont Park in Altoona sold theirs. No one in Maryland has one that I’m aware of, hasn’t been one since Blue Diamond Park closed. Powers & Thomas had one, but it was blown over in a bad storm in New York two years ago, had to be cut up and scrapped on site. It’s a good ride, it’s a shame more aren’t operating, but sadly it’s more of a fancy light tower these days. It gets lookers but not riders, and for something that’s two trailers (main load and tub trailer) and that labor intensive to assemble, a lot of shows can’t afford to carry one on a regular basis. It eats money rather than earning it. The show I work for (Penn Wood Shows) had one in the 90s that was named Illuminator. I’m not sure where the ride sold to, but the sign is supposedly owned by one of the owners of AEB Amusements.

This is just superb, I have been researching "fairhope arts and crafts festival 2019" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Honsaac Qonandon Cure - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now )?
It is a good exclusive guide for getting Fairs And Festival listings minus the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my m8 got cool success with it.
