At what stage of life Did Jesus Christ look like God Almighty, childhood, teenage or maturity??

The last conversation I had with a Christian was with a young (mid-late 20's) and I kept trying to dig down to what was the basis of her belief and how I (as an outside observer) could differentiate her basis of belief from a believer in a different faith. This was a conversation I tactfully withdrew from when I saw that this introspection was making her cry. I let her pray for me as I thought this would cheer her up. If you wish to hold deep conversations about faith be prepared for the impact it could bring to both parties.

You probably approached this the wrong way. I too would cry if someone asked me to explain my Christian faith. Why? Because it is meaningful to me and has helped me understand and persevere through immense suffering. Would I expect it to somehow convert the person questioning, not at all. But that’s not the point. I once had an atheist housemate of mine break down sobbing explaining that he deeply wanted to be religious but couldn’t because he didn’t think God loved him so hated God by default. Did his emotion somehow make me waver and consider atheism? No, but that wasn’t his point, he was simply sharing his experience.

She might have felt sad for you because she felt you were missing out on what she had?
There is a good rational basis for belief in Christianity, whether she knew it or not. Have a look at Lee Strobel’s books if you don’t know them, or William Lane Craig’s RUclips videos.

If your atheist friend thought that god hated him, that would mean he believed in the existence of a deity and was therefore not an atheist at all, rather they were a conflicted theist.

@Jill-jb1jg watched quit a lot of Dr Craig and I'm afraid I would have to have been already convicted in my belief to find his arguments convincing

Yes, they want to have a conversation, but not have to question their belief and especially if it requires a change in beliefs. People do not like to have their worldview upended. There's good reason to explain this phenomena; the amygdala interprets change as a threat and can trigger a response which is a natural protective mechanism also called cognitive dissonance.

Unless you've actually studied the issue in depth, in which case the religious simply disappear....
