This may be a dumb question, but you were using paper transfer tape? I'm used to the clear for tumblers, but have never used paper transfer tape.
You can use clear, just pencil does not work on it but sharpie does

Dang where did you learn this? Or did you figure it out on your own?
I typically figure everything out the process per paint job and I have over 20 years experience in custom painting

Transfer paper is called "TransferRite Ultra 592U High Tack Transfer Tape" from USCUTTER uscutter.com/Transferrite-Ultra-592U-High-Tack-Transfer-Tape/
