Not at all the FAA was trying to ground the entire SpaceX Fleet! NASA’s mission changed because Boeing has failed to deliver the promised product! Yet Boeing has had more accidents yet never seems to be fined rather they get more money to fix the problems with even worse accidents occurring, how about fining them for the billions they cost the Government and Civilians across the World?

When NASA tasks four experienced astronauts to consult on designs and one flat out refuses to step inside Boeing's deathtrap. Yet the FAA tries to hold them up as the benchmark for safety despite them having a safety record akin to Soviet era Russian aircraft companies including "mysterious" accodents of people who criticise the company. There is a distinct smell in the FAA headquarters.

Space related activities should not be controled by the FAA. As it's own name implies, it should be focused only on aviation. Because of the rapid evolution of the space industry, I believe there should be a new independent agency of the government that is charged with oversight of SPACE. Hopefully, that should make launch licensing more reasonable.

No the FAA is necessary to regulate the sky and increase safety for those in our airspace be they on the ground, in the air, or going into space. Before the FAA it was far more common to see dangerous accidents due to a lack of regulations and safety standards. So to say no more FAA is basically saying to ignore any and all safety standards for air travel.
I'd rather companies be forced to wait and the public be more protected than to throw caution to the wind especially with a company that is involved in space travel.

Out of curiosity, when an airline buys a new plane, or an airplane company builds a new plane or engine, does the FAA make the companies conduct research to make sure wildlife is ok with the new looks and sounds? Or when an airline adds a new route from airport to airport, do they make the airline conduct surveys to ensure the new route doesn't impact wildlife? Maybe they do and I've just never heard of it. I mean, we've seen bird impacts on planes before, has the FAA ever pulled an airport's license for two months while they conducted bird research? Maybe they just cut that part out of the movie Sully.

Having to deal with a dozen (more or less) Government Agencies with little or no coordination other than what SpaceX can wrangle is the biggest problem.
What we need is either LESS regulation oversight or a Streamlined new agency who is supposed to coordinate all the related agencies, where SpaceX only talks to the one agency, and all the tangent agencies have to talk to the one, who gets final say. The purpose is the eliminate administrative drag that is affecting SpaceX.

CCP, Blue Origin - Bezo, ULA, the demon-rats, ALL don't want Elon to be successful. The FAA heads are being paid? threatened? or foolishly imagine they are helping the demon-rat cause. The delay is so obviously NOT about 'science'.
Here's another saying: "Absolute power corrupts absolutely." Everyone know the FAA heads are lying, but until an investigation like in NY happens, the FAA heads will get away with it. That foolishness is why the Supreme Court struck down the 'Chevron bill'. That bill allowed gov't agencies to make their own rules then enforce them as law.
Here's one last saying: If it is good for America; if it will give hope and encourage the American people: the demon-rats are against it. And will do so, up to and including the assassination of a President.
Pray for America. Pray for President Trump.

Lucky for us, the tech is coming over the horizon to flush the toilet. Bureaucracy can and will be displaced by AI very very soon, or else all hell will break loose, and then it will get replaced.
Actually I'm seeing a perfect storm coming.
Others are seeing it too soon a consensus, enabled by open communication.
And basically the Public is livid at these idiots. From State DMV, to Buffoons in Congress...
    They of course are oblivious...
Personally, I'm looking forward to the next two flights...
On 5 will be watching the tiles situation, hoping I'm wrong, and they made it work.
On flight 6, thats likely the first debut of Raptor 3 engines, and I think we are in for a party on those.
Even Elon is boggled by Raptor 3's, just from testing and manufacturing standpoints.
And its gonna be blue flames, a first in Space History, and likely obvious difference in power and resulting acceleration.
Suspect the Nay Sayers, are in for a rude shock.
Suddenly there will be zero doubt on Simplification as a prime design criteria for Space Technologies.
It will likely even become a Chinglish word...
Best part afterwards is its back to the drawing board for the competition...
    Jeffie's Turtle needs hormones..
Raptor 3's will be the Testosterone heavy Rocket engine...

There is a law in the United States, that you cannot take space technology out of the country. You'll be charged with treason and prisoned for 40 years to life. He can't just up and leave the country with the technology.

Elon Musk should just buy an island and build his rocket empire there, free from the corruption that is blatantly obvious in the FAA. He can still launch for NASA and the DOD, for which he can charge a fee.

    NASA should cancel Gateway.
NASA should cancel Artemis 4 and beyond.
NASA is too far behind in the development of a space station using the ISS / International Space Station.
NASA has had a big enough budget to have sent many manned missions to the moon since their last manned lunar landing.

Austin is a nice city and so is Brownsville. I'm considering relocation due to the hostile government in Denver towards rural folks. They treat us like their servants, to cater to their recreational whims. Can barely afford housing and wages are stagnant despite growth. We're looking at other areas like Brownsville that are turning around.

What I still can't understand is why the FAA has authority over licensing and not NASA. It's kind of in their names; Federal AVIATION Admin or National air and SPACE Admin, All the FAA needs to do is clear the airspace around the ranges. The FAA continues to complain about being under funded and understaffed. NASA should handle all launch vehicle licensing, Not just for Space-X but all commercial. And the notion that Boeings "Safety Culture" is or should be the benchmark is unfathomable! Clearly the FAA doesn't communicate between it's own departments. I'm a pilot, A&P and have had several years as an engineering tech in aerospace so please, Armchair professionals, Don't comment.

You are a professional in aerospace? Surprising because you don't seem to understand much about it.
The reasons the FAA have authority over launches is because Congress appointed them to the role. You should be aware of that. Congress also sets the scope of the FAA and funds it accordingly. Your proposal to somehow have NASA, fulfil the role is rather impractical as it is almost the exact opposite of what NASA was set up to do.
Space X is providing launch services to NASA, its the FAA's job to see that all these commercial contracts are done safely and sensibly. They draw on the experience they have built up working with every contractor to NASA and others providing similar services since the inception of commercial space flights.
The issues Space X have with the FAA are all of Space X's own making. Never in my 50 years in aviation have I seen a company behave as idiotically as Space X has with the FAA. Space X upped and disrupted themselves for no good reason.
I worked on the FAA certification of the Airbus 320 series in the US, doing 18 months of route proving with them. They are a pain in the arse, but they aren't stupid. They have the rule book and if you want to play the game, you need to stick to the rules. If you don't like the rules, you talk to them and show them why, they will help you get the rules changed if you are right. The FAA are really good at that bit, much better than the CAA or any other authority I have worked with.
The issue here is that Space X have overwhelmed the FAA by upping the number of launches over the past few years exponentially. At the same time successive Governments have failed to invest in the regulatory side, which has barely changed. Its a political thing, some of you think "small government" means "good government", which it doesn't in this case.
If Space X wants to unclog the way forward, instead of slagging the FAA off they should be supporting their call for proper funding to do the job Congress requires of them. I can't imagine the Texas authorities have pumped any money into their local FAA, that would be quite against their religion, as I understand it. The solution is simple really, and I am surprised a man as intelligent as Musk didn't do that starting years ago when this up coming launch cadence was obvious to him.
The other thing Space X could do is stop being total idiots and launching without FAA permission or an inspector present, not once, but twice. Is Musk insane? That's a serious question, nobody sane does that.

To help you understand... The FAA regulates the activities of US Citizens involved in space activities. Their authority is actually ove citizens and what they are doing.
