    The only real negative for me is the noisiness of the new material. It'd get on my nerves after a while. The price is in-line with the material choice so no complaints there. I'm happy AER is offering more options! Excellent review BTW.

    Mint is okay in small doses, as they've implemented. I think if they did it everywhere it would have been too much, so glad they stuck with the grey for most of it (which I still find to be high contrast enough). I will say I like the move they made with the zipper pulls.

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  Месяц назад

      totally agreed on the zipper pullers (although it does lose that self-locking ability)

  • @alexrosenberg_tube

    Mint wouldn't be my preference, but it is high-contrast, which is why I prefer the X-Pac versions over the regular gray.

    First AER and CPP’s 1.08kg at 24Litres did it for me for a hybrid biz travel EDC.
    The crunchiness dampens a bit when it’s pack out for sure and fits the Owala 24oz nice & snug.
    Would be nice to see the flight pack or City Pack non pro in ultra. Especially how much weight it may potentially save.

  • @TheJmoneyp
    @TheJmoneyp Месяц назад +1

    I like specifically where they put the mint green. Its only in the pockets intention where you need to see more contrast where you would just throw things and the color is not so in your face
    But im blind so the orange is great for me but a normal sighted person the mint green is great

    • @Nomads.Nation

      yea good point, the coloring was very intentional in that way

    I still prefer the look of the older material. The new material looks very wrinkly. Though being lighter might be a plus and consideration. Overall, to prefer the older material look. The one day sale was good, but still torn between that brand versus alpaca versus the nomad brand coming out.

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  Месяц назад

      yea Cordura 1680 def has a better look to it imo. Ultra is for people who are less concerned about form and more about function (as Ultra is next-level weather resistant)

  • @arasukiasyan1
    @arasukiasyan1 29 дней назад +1

    They could’ve done more for weight reduction and gone all green with the interior. This would’ve had me sold on the new line. However this could be their way of approaching change with a limited stock to gauge the market and adjust

    I got a look at a few bags in the new Ultra material last week at a NYC Aer store and was thoroughly impressed. It felt high quality and made for a much lighter bag than Xpac equivalents. I think it'll do well for Aer and provide buyers with another good material option.

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  29 дней назад

      Agreed! It’s really only for the highly technical buyer, but there’s tons of those in the Carry Community, so I think this will bode well overall for Aer

  • @DrWoc
    @DrWoc Месяц назад +3

    Feels like a missed opportunity to not make an ultra version of their fit pack 3. Living in New York that’s the only one I’ve seen people wear in public. Cutting down weight and using weatherproof for a more portable small daypack seems more appropriate than the large travel packs everyone expects to be heavy and solid and to have structure.

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  Месяц назад

      I assume they did it for their best sellers, which based on the comments I read about Aer, the Fit Pack 3 is not very popular

    • @DrWoc
      @DrWoc Месяц назад

      @@Nomads.Nation I guess in my mind I thought the fit pack sold a lot more because I see more of them in the public, whereas I’ve seen no duffel packs ever, and I’ve seen more reviews and also the duffel pack seems to be absurdly long and a weird shape. Surprised it sold better. The fit series was always weird to me because of the actual duffel zipper being hard to access and the shoe compartment taking up all the space in the bag.

  • @RemFreeman
    @RemFreeman Месяц назад +3

    I had never heard of this material before I learned about this collection, but given the apparent noise and wrinkling fabric structure it has over even something like X-Pac, I'm not really sold on this, especially given the price. Was hoping for more weight reduction, but also I'm not a fan of having the mint green interior be in only some of the pockets. For something like, I would prefer it to be either in all or none of the interior. Also, any plans to review the Evergoods CTB26? Thanks for all of your hard work!!

    • @RevolverOcelot79
      @RevolverOcelot79 Месяц назад

    • @Nomads.Nation

      it's interesting to see Aer only implement it in certain pockets, which I think gives it a more subtle, but boring, look. CTB review coming in a few months!

      Having the Travel Pack 3 Small Ultra in hand now, it's quieter than VX42 in day to day usage except when being handled directly (not a big deal). Noticably lighter and although better abrasion and water resistance on paper, I've not yet had long enough with it to give an informed opinion but I'd expect it to be at least on par.

    I just sold my tp3 (cordura) today after 6 months of use and it was like new even do I did around 5 travels (domestic/international) and weekend use to carry all my soundstage audio stuff. I had an opportuny and they paid me the same price I paid. No regrets about durability. I'm not fan of that side pocket for water bottles I think should be redesign and during long walking distance (w/ full backpack and hip belt) I stared to feel it uncomfortable. The look in cordura is great, cordura allows you overpack and hold its shape/form. For now I'm using the peak design tp45 it's suppoused to be heavier than tp3 but for some reason I feel it more comfortable than tp3, It's weird. The look of the peak design is better than tp3. I'm thinking if I should try the new tp3 ultra but I'm not sure about durability and scratch resitance...

    Aaron, if someone (like me) is getting the Fyro T22, do you think the Travel Pack 3 Ultra standard or small size would be the best compliment this the T22 (being 22L expandable to 26)? I'm leaning towards the standard size because I thought it might complement the T22 better since 26 L vs. 30L is not the biggest difference - on the other hand it might just simply to unnecessarily big and perhaps 30L is the upper limit for what a backpack should be before you go suitcase and/or pack lighter 😄 Any insights?

      @@Nomads.Nation I think I need a happy medium because I've found PK to be too heavy for what they do, and too camera focused. PD Everyday can't take packing cubes and PK Travel doesn't have enough organization / easily accessible pockets. On the other hand, I'd need more structure than what an ultra light hiking bag has, for my EDC use. Anyway thanks for your answer, I'm only getting more convinced of the Aer Travel 3 Ultra, though also considering Able Carry Max and Minaal Carry-on 3.0. I may end up buying two of them and see what I use most. I'm leaning towards The Aer though. Good you have a market place in case I'll need it 😉

    Hi Aaron, loved all your videos
    I am a Able carry Max (XPac) user, love every single bit of it except its pretty heavy even empty and therefore I am looking for a lighter backpack for EDC to work and for weekend.
    I am currently considering the Aer City Pack Pro Ultra, the Able Carry Daily Plus and the Able Carry Daybreaker 2. What's your recommendation from the three?

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  22 дня назад

      If you want light and don't care about tech protection, the Daybreaker 2 is the best option. If you want something more tech/feature heavy you can flip a coin between the other two, but I'd give the slightest edge to the Aer CPP

      each have their pros and cons. Cordura looks the best/classiest and has decent weather resistant. XPAC has more weather resistance. Ultra has the most weather resistance and has better abrasian resistance than th eXPAC. For the average Joe, the Cordura is more weather resistance than you'll ever need, but if you get caught in a lot of Monsoons then the Ultra can be quite handy

    Seems like the worst possible use of extra $ on a price tag -- the difference between 4.1 and 3.7lb is negligible (if 0.4lb mattered you would choose a 1.5lb travel pack, not a 4lb one) and shows that the weight of aer packs comes from features/organization rather than materials.
