Buying More SCHD This Week Before The Ex-dividend Date | On The Road To 1000 Shares Of SCHD

This week I was buying more SCHD before the ex-dividend date since we are on the road to 1000 shares of SCHD.
I will be going over the portfolio update.
I will also be going over my portfolio update which is continuing to grow the dividend snowball in the dividend portfolio.

I bought 900 shares of SCHD last week, along with some JEPQ, JEPI, O and GOF. VYM has been a great holding for the last year or so. I reduced some of my long-held holdings of MSFT and AAPL. Most of these are in my Roth, so taxes are not an issue at all .

Just started my SCHD journey, so only at 30 currently. New watcher/ sub and really liked the idea of goals. So thank you. Hoping to be at a point that when I DRIP it will be a share a quarter by the end of the year. #dividends : )

Have a goal of 160 shares a year, but what I added to this weeks video, my biggest goal is to get my average cost per share down, so I am not over paying to get to the goal of 1000 or so shares by 5 years. Also have plans for VOO, MMM and looking at a few other individuals to add as well.

Why are you using SNSXX as compared to SWVXX?

That’s actually a really great question, for my personal goals SNSXX is what worked best for me due to the fact that SNSXX is basically 100% US treasury which means that they are less risker meaning that I would sleep much better at night and I would also have the benefit of being state tax exempt from the distributions.
I do take a slight hit on the yield, but it’s not that much for me compared to the difference, SWVXX could be better for someone else, but at the moment SNSXX works best for my personal goals 😁. I hope that helps answer your question my friend.

Love your videos and your progress but the math seems wrong at your end dashboard. 3 shares of SCHD and .03 shares of WM and .04 shares of Google shouldn't have jumped you up that much but if I'm wrong then Kudos to you.

I think you are right, but it’s the way the script pulls in the quarterly dividends, especially since it just multiplies it by 4 if it’s quarterly dividend etc so it just depends on the information retrieved from SeekingAlpha

On Schwab's website it lists the Q2 Ex Dividend Date as June 26, 2024
