    Excellent demonstration of tigar crane style and application. The closed range techniques are very similar yet also different from Wing Chun. Thank you very much.

    There's a precision to your Hung Gar hand techniques that I really like. I like your hand fighting applications, I just wish there were English captions (even if they're machine translated) so I can better understand the nuances.

      Also as a side note, in the context of training modern takedown defenses, it is usually advisable to pressure-cook your techniques with a highly resisting opponent with decent wrestling experience. It will be unrealistic and a waste of time to train with passive opponents attempting a double leg takedown in bad form (such as shooting in for the takedown slowly and at the wrong angle, or sticking their heads out wide open for guillotine chokes), as seen in a lot of "anti-takedown self-defense" videos.
      You have mentioned the issue of people using clinch-based takedowns against CMA practitioners. From a CMA / grappling cross-training perspective, assuming your intention is to keep the fight standing thereby destroying your opponent standing (i.e. employing "sprawl and brawl" tactics), better add grappling to your arsenal by first learning how to properly execute the most commonly taught wrestling takedowns targeting the lower half of the human body - this means double leg takedown, single leg takedown, high crotch, bodylock-based takedowns, ankle pick, to name a few. Acquire a basic understanding of (1) how to set up each takedown from a wrestling perspective and (2) how to chain these takedowns together when one fails (yes a good grappler will always keep attacking until you screw up your defense), to better anticipate how a trained wrestler initiating the takedown will move.
      Then drill the grappling defenses to these takedowns religiously - good sprawls will take you a long way, and it is certainly easier to jump to a sprawl if you are already on solid CMA stances. It will also be your responsibility to make use of what you have already learned from CMA to make it harder for your opponent to gain a superior body position (to set up takedowns) via upper body exchange, which may manifest in the form of arm drags, Russian ties, head snaps, pummelings and clinches, to name a few.
      That being said, in most cases the person with better wrestling will always be the one to determine whether the fight happens standing or on the ground, so you will need to have submission grappling (e.g. BJJ) in your arsenal as a backup if your takedown defense is crap;)

    Why does Chinese martial arts have so much hand fighting and sticky hands? In real fighting, don't people tend to move and throw combination punches? Why so much emphasis on standing in one spot and hand fight?

    • @WashingMykale
      @WashingMykale Год назад

      Even in boxing fighters would clinch, and n my experience with altercations on the street, fights can end up with people grabbing on to collars or jackets to stabilize the target. In that range you can either wrestle or hand fight to offset their balance, trap their arms and look for opening to attack. It's not always going to be at punching and kicking distance like in a sport setting.

      Not good getting tied up when there are multiple opponents. However, there is a style called Kuai Jiao. It's designed to throw an opponent as soon as you touch them. No wrestling. Hand fighting and Chi sau would tie you up with an opponent actually.@@WashingMykale
