And this episode is a perfect example of why I wish the other F-Zero games (outside of Falcon Densetsu aka GP Legends in-game story mode) would delve into the rivalries between racers like Samurai Goroh and Antonio Guster. Just imagine how incredible it would be to watch rivalries play out during races, Goroh and Guster bumping each other on corners, or Super and Mrs. Arrow teaming up to prevent Zoda from winning. I would love to see stuff like this in an F-Zero game. Make it happen Nintendo. As for the episode itself, it does an incredible job of showing how the lines between good and evil are blurred in the world of F-Zero, where everyone's agenda seems to interfere in one form or another, with anyone they are not in an alliance with.
X and GX kinda do that. In GX, it's told through interviews and profiles, while in X, certain racers will behave differently, depending on who you play as.
@@spearmintpony7105 in gx too. Depending on who you play certain pilots will act a bit more harshly against you. (In the races) I also think if you kill someone they come back for a revenge ... Not sure tho (gx)
I played F-Zero X a rediculious amount and yeah after a while you do notice certain pilots always finishing around others like Kate Alen and John Tanaka always seem to be close by, like the game has some sort of "buddy system" if you will.
@@siriusql Unfortunately, outside of Story Mode Chapter 7, that's not how the rival system works in GX. In GX the rival system just marks who you need to beat, or who you need to watch out for if you're in 1st on the leaderboard. That _is_ sort of how it works in X, though. There isn't a revenge system but each pilot has a selection of characters that are their rivals, and these characters will try to stay around you. And if they're marked as an aggressive character, they will also occasionally spin attack. Another fun AI feature of X is that Billy will spin-attack whenever he catches air.
What an excellent episode. This show really gets me thinking and reassessing my thoughts on certain characters. I always thought Guster was kinda sorta a good guy and Goroh was mostly bad, but this episode flips both of those thoughts and also blurs them a bit at the same time. Brilliant storytelling.
I don't like a few things about the F-Zero anime (mostly with the adaptational villainy of characters like Bio-Rex and others), but what they did with Samurai Goroh and Antonio Guster is great. Granted, I have always played as Samurai Goroh in the games, so I am biased.
@@captainryusugi1128 for example, in X the reason for octoman to compete was bringing awareness to the struggle of his home planet and using the prize money to build schools there
literally the last track from GX's ruby cup, both have harsh turns, a big loop, a lot of jump pads and even a bomb zone, and they're both called Multiplex
Goroh is basically Space Samurai Robin Hood. Why does he not have his own game yet? (The same reason Nintendo is dragging their heels with doing a proper F-zero reboot. Arrrrgh.)
He's more of a bombastic goofball in the games than anything. I wouldn't call him weak, just not a serious character. Still, he's one of the few heavily changed characters in the anime that actually benefitted from the changes.
I like this anime a lot, but I'm annoyed mainly for two reasons. 1) Why did they make The Skull so weak, cowardly and subservient to Zoda. We know from both the games and an earlier episode that he can use black magic. That's pretty OP and I don't understand why he wouldn't just try to kill Zoda in his sleep or something. It seems like it would be easy for him 2) According to the games, Octoman joined the F-Zero circuit to win money to support both his family and poverty-stricken planed. I know he looks menacing, but he's racing for all the right reasons. I guess the anime is an alternate timeline, but Octoman is not a bad guy. Pico maybe could've worked to replace him, but I don't think he really meets the comic relief villain role. It's hard to imagine Pico working steadily for a single organization. Spade would've been a great replacement, though I think this anime mightve started production before GX/AX
+бaułśáck ƕssassiй Yeah the Anime has a bunch of differences compared to the games. Like many character back stories, Time and setting etc. It's, like you said, an alternate universe.
I get what you mean, Rex, The Skull and Octoman all seem way less menacing than I believe they should be, they seem to be portrayed as goofy henchmen in this episode and I think they all have a bit more grunt than that.
No, he just had his adrenaline tube slashed, he won't die without it, I'm sure it sucked and he had to have it fixed but yes...that's not a life support thing.

GX has a rival marking fitting for the characters (for example using captain falcon would highlight black shadow on the minimap)

Zoda and chocolate ice cream is my OTP
22:25. You're laughing. Bart's laughing over his own alter ego's reputation and you're laughing
I love Samurai Goroh. He ain't fighting for good, but he ain't fighting for bad either.
ゲームの時とは比べものにならんくらいカッコ良くなっとる

ゲームだとクッパやデデデのポジションだからな。
Good stuff w/Goroh, Guster & the others. A wild racecourse. Fun episode.

It's great to see the original F-Zero racers be so badass: Captain Falcon, Dr. Stewart, Samurai Goroh, Pico (well, this one just a bit LoL)
Hey! One of my favorite tracks from GX; Aeropolis, Multiplex! Awesome!
I was thinking on that Right Now! xD
yeah but for me at least it doesn't look much like it tho
Best track ever
inb4 Big Hand
One of the most memorable tracks in the game.
So cool to see it used in the story here!
Multiplex is a beast in F-Zero GX, so much fun
Finally we get a different F-Zero game OST. ("Silence" I believe.)
Multiplex from F-ZERO GX,
15:15 Green vehicle broken down scene is Iooks like F-ZERO GX!
I Really Really hope what Zoda was having was Chocolate Ice Cream
Philipe Arakaki that's what the translator thinks, but he very clearly says chocolate parfait every time he mentions it
Just to let everyone know, Cipi Tendo has provided some Spanish translations for this episode! Enjoy! :)

Interesting to see Samurai Goroh as an honorable and cool character. Not as the pathetic weak coward he is in the games.

12:03 What aiming he had! Direct to the mouth!
LOL I loved that.
Goroh stole from Zoda. Ryu did the right thing without knowing it. 😂
Samurai Goroh is much cooler in the anime
12:58 That is some of the coolest fighting scenes.

Actually, the thing about Octoman's cause is the focus of a later episode.
Pico got dark shadow as a target in his ending. Doesn't work either.

For a task force they really do a great job arresting the criminals😐
