- Welcome back to the channel guys. Today's video is a mix of a beginners guide to birding and a showcase of some of the garden birds I get in my backyard here in Johannesburg.
I saw a tweet that read something along the lines that you get to an age where you suddenly find yourself becoming a bird watcher or birder. For me that age came a little earlier than most I guess when I saw a beautiful African paradise fly catcher and got curious about what it was. I dived straight in and here I am about 7 years later closing in on 500 species in Southern Africa!
Such an interesting video for me who cannot tell one bird from another. many thanks!
Everyone has to start somewhere and the backyard is a great place to begin!
This is great! Thank you
Thank you I am glad you like it!
I see these guy's everyday they all so stunning ❤❤
Yes it’s great to see them around the garden and take the time to appreciate them!
Awesome
Thanks 😊
❤
My pleasure thanks for watching 🙏🏼
I'm a beginner and enjoyed your video. I have also purchased the Sasol 5th edition on your recommendation. Thank you
Hi Penny. Thanks for watching. Any one of the books would have been great for someone just starting off. Also the apps work well as well because they sometimes also have bird sounds to help ID the birds.
Nice Video, back at home in Giyani I have a bird bath . Even Little Bee Eaters come for a drink and bath.
You should set up a perch for photography, I love little bee eaters!
@@SouthAfricanWanderer this festive season I’ll do that, I’ll try to set up something to hide.
@@XipandzaMananga yes nice December project
Thanks for video. We live in Melville, and I’ve recently started putting out seed for the birds. Shall I put water nearby for them? I’ve just put seed on the top of our garage, not in a feeder. Hope that is ok? They seem happy so far
They generally find water through the year. We don’t have water out specifically but we sometimes have small grinding stones that fill up with rain water and they use that..
Kurrichane should be pronounced 'curry-chain' phonetically.
Thanks so much for that Linden 🙏🏼🙏🏼
