Our regular board gaming group of four to six extended family members have played just about every 'Golf' derivative including Play Nine, Cabo and the Silver series. And I must say that designer Ted Alspach has really hit it out of the park with Scram! In my opinion, it is the best version yet, offering a well balanced blend of luck and skill, a streamlined set of special card abilities (compared to the Silver games) and most of all a game that is optimized for team play. Every game we've played has been tense and extremely satisfying.

Great Video as always from the two of you. Y'all turned us onto Cabo over a year ago and it has been a big hit with family and friends. Scram just arrived in our mailbox today. Fully anticipating it to provide many hours of fun as well. Not so easy to find relatively simple fun 2 v 2 or 3 v 3 games.

A game that includes a verbal declaration is a winner in my book, thanks for the great video! Now SCRAM! ;)

I got to demo this at Origins and it was really fun.
I ended up being surprised because neither I nor my friends I demoed with tend to like team games but we all enjoyed it.
Initially I was just drawn in by the art

This gives Bridge meets BS meets Hanabi vibes. I like it! Seems like a fun one to pull out when it's you and one other couple waiting on everyone else.

It's not clear how to play the action of the 11 and 12 cards. The rules say "when you play card 12, you may choose to "view" a face up card in order to exchange it. Seems like a round about way to say "exchange your highest face up card with an opponents lowest"....because that's what happens every single time anyways. Same thing with the 11 card (always used to simply trade your highest face up card with an opponent's lowest face up card). What am I missing?

The game gives me some Cabo vibes

Not surprising as it really contains a superset of the Cabo special ability cards. It actually sits between Cabo and the Silver series of games in terms of complexity, and IMHO it's just about the perfect amount with cards optimized for team play.

Sort of a ramped up team version of Rar-a-tat Cat.

On one hand, I rarely play with four or more players, which it seems this game plays best with. And, my family doesn’t really like co-op games.
On the other hand, otters. Cute cute otters.
    Tough decision!

Just to clarify, this isn't really a co-op game. It's a team-based game. If anything, it's very competitive bordering on cutthroat, but by no means in an objectionable way. And in our opinion it plays best at four.
