I remember the hardworking he was involved in, during the rebellion in Northern Uganda. One day, when we were in Pader, in Koirarogi to be specific, we were in 91Bn led by Capt Muhabuzi now a Brigadier, Gen Otema was a coordinator of operations in Northern Uganda. He called our Unit commander to tell him our coordinates so that we don't suffer from fratricide or death from own fire. We gave him our GPS coordinates. Then in a few minutes we saw fighter jets coming and just some few metres away from us about 700 metres we heard a shelling from these helicopters and later he communicated to us to move towards where the helicopters were shelling. We found hundreds of LRA dead bodies, charged them and obtained massive weapons and I remember I got 1.25 million from an LRA rebel and immediately when we got some time to rest from fata Nyaayo, (tracking and counter tracking the enemy) I requested a permisdion and used the money I charged from these insurgents to buy land. Otema really did a great job in Northern Uganda and the late General Aronda used to trust him so much.
