    Thibs loyal to his players , love that about him . Even after horrid injuries like the DRose case, someone who was long past the NBA still get called upon by your ex coach is miraculous, can only imagine the emotions D was feeling

      Even tho tibs led the Knicks the furthest they been in long time, I just don’t understand how his approach with his best players hasn’t changed with all the playoff letdowns. Sure having the best players on the floor when it matters most sounds like a good idea. Look at Chicago. Drose was an injury I won’t fully attribute to that . Some of those chi lebron battles show how tibs overrelied on their starters and when game 6 7 came around in multiple series , what happened? The exact same thing happened to your knicks this season. Sure knicks had injuries entering and went further than I expected. What happened end of ecf? Seems familiar.

      Knicks were injured during season and This got the best out of everyone. Yes they ran out of steam due to the injuries but only one injury was due to minutes played...

      @@Michael-vn2jjthe whole point of that paragraph is tibs has done this multiple seasons not just this season when his team had numerous injuries. Hopefully it won’t be another 30 years til u see a finals appearance again and maybe that will come to adjustments he makes with minute wise. It’s why teams like San Antonio Miami are competitive every year they embrace their depth .

    Its not only about the average minutes over the course of a season, its playing them extended minutes during games when you dont have to play them. That can be relative.

      Derrick rose, joakim Noah, luol Deng?????? He didn't use that style in Minnesota and only 1 playoff series. Teams plays couple players big minutes in the playoffs. Thibs does it all season long all playoffs. 48 minutes for alot of players and not overtime games.

    Players who don't like playing for Thibs can't play for Thibs! I never heard D-Rose or Joakim Noah or Luol Deng complain. Plus, it seems all the Knicks players love and respect the man. So that's good enough for me not to be worried about players' minutes.

      Thibbs isn't a championship coach he continue to make the same mistakes. He relies to much on scoring guards like DRose now Brunson. In the playoffs majority of his players are fatigue which leads to injuries or the opposing coach out smart him.

    Geez, I love this podcast because Thibs mentioned how everyone sets illegal screens these days!!!! This is a huge reason why offense is soooo over powered. Watching an NBA game, it's so hard to fight over screens when guys are taking wide stances and or extending their hip out, giving the defender a tougher obstacle to overcome.

    This will always be my bulls coach and loved n respected in Chicago. He took most of my starting 5 to Minnesota with him 😂 and NY is lucky to have coach that's built a squad off CHEMISTRY!     I'm a long times bulls fan and know his minutes were not the reason DRose or Deng got injured. Some blamed the coach and it caught fire like it was the truth. I know he got the most from his bench and got many guys paid nice contracts. Hartenstein is the latest.

    Every team has players play huge mins in the playoffs. Thibbs you do it all year round. That’s why it stuck with you. Give young players some burn during the regular season. Let your vets get a spell. It’s a marathon not a race.

    Why not changes the rules so that it is not a judgement call, to use Tibs same example why not change that rule to be can not have the inside of the knee outside the shoulder so you can still establish a good base with it being a tripping issue

      The bulls team just look at the players, Rose, Noah and Deng. All hopelessly injury prone during and post Chicago. Noah and Deng especially should have had a muchhhhh longer and better career. Deng was him.

    that’s why everybody needs to shut tf up when trying to talk about thibs and his coaching. It obviously worked to have us 1 game out from the conference finals while everyone else’s teams were home watching from the couch.       @@NebraskaPoliceDepartment my brother in christ. Mitchell robinson is injury prone no matter how much you play him. Bogdonavich was acquired at the trade deadline and came off the bench. Same with OG until playoffs started and his minutes rised some but not by much. Brunson plays the same amount of minutes as any other teams star player. Josh hart averages the same as any other starter in the league. it’s upsetting when even our fans just say what everyone else says and don’t watch or research for themselves

    You can’t have a 7 man rotation with some playing heavy minutes 40+ minutes and not expect an injury. You played OG 40+ minutes coming off an injury in the playoffs. Great coach, but without that adjustment this will continue. This may need to come from above.

      If ur cleared from an injury u can play that’s it. Teams do scrimmages and practice before they touch the NBA court again. It’s unfortunate if they get hurt again but that’s out of Coach’s hands.

      Sometimes Thib plays only his starting five.
      Of course they are happy to get more minutes and improve their game.
      Coming to the end of the season it takes a toll on the player's.
      The bench is not being developed to help out at this time.

      Some of these responses are so dense. You are absolutely right. We literally have years of evidence including this year. Overusing your players will result in injury and shortened careers. Thibs is responsible for about 4 of these btw. Poor player management.

    Tyrese Maxey also won his matchup as well, but they weren't necessarily guarding each other because Kelly Oubre was guarding Brunson and Josh Hart was guarding Maxey

      Randle and Jaylen injuries had nothing to do with minutes ...
      If Randle didn't have a fluke shoulder separation, OG wouldn't have had to play so many minutes

    I'm calling bs on his answer. Giving rest during practice is cool to preserve your players is fine but he keeps a short bench so it will always catch up with you. He should be developing his other players so they can play meaningful minutes.

      I ain't stressing the amount of mins. But u right development of young players is key. How can practice determine playing time if you not practicing hard. Bit of a cop out but overall I like the coaching staff.

    Hmmm why would a coach play his better players longer so he doesn’t have to put in the worse players…. I can’t think of one reason why that would be beneficial 😂. It’s not that unique of an idea. It’s unique to find players willing to do it.

He even said In this fred, " I give a lighter day, but still let them do enough to stay sharp. " In other words , he doesn't give a complete day off. It may be ok to not reduce minutes in a game , but he should give off days completely off sometimes , and not , " Keep them sharp. "

    Thibs runs his best players into the ground. That’s why Jimmy Butler doesn’t want to play for him again. You can give Thibs a rotation such as the Celtics have and he would still play six or seven. That’s his mentality. You can’t win championships that way.

That organization saw what they have and built around that. That is Tatum and Brown. You would think the Knicks would have sense to do that but they don’t.
