- So I decided to buy some more untested Xbox 360 consoles. This time I got them from Goodwill, and not only did they include consoles, but the Xbox 360 lot also included some accessories! Buying Xbox 360 consoles in 2021 can be an interesting experience... so be sure to see what I got!

The names for your wifi router(s) lmaoooooo
Hello
You're prices are pretty high for real. You complain when other places charge above ebay.
Hi
One day, I bought a fat 360 from a second hand shop and as soon as I got it, I looked on the back and it was a Zephyr (a xenon but with hdmi). Got home and powered it on, worked well. 3 weeks later, press the power button and I had a 3 ring RRoD. I was so sad, so I took it back to the second hand shop I got it from and they offered a replacement of my choice. So now I have a Xbox 360 S.
I'm sorry that happened to you. I just got a Zephyr 360 myself
Here is some of the things I got from the thrift store over the years, gen1 megatron in the box for 6 dollars, sega mater system in the box for 1.50 cent , a game cube for 14.94 , nes for 9.99 , many games for 2.99 for different systems . Gi space shuttle set for 29.96 the defiant
what thrift store is triping with those prices 🤔
@@cicerothenekoknightplaysall the value village, well the megetron was nearly 20 years ago when my mom found that at the local store up the street in DC
I got a Sega CDX for 15 dollars at Goodwill and a first gen Ps3 for 15 dollars back when it was new cost me 120 to get it fixed.
Sega mater system
Ur prices old school
You can imagine someone leaving quantum of solace in a defective console they've screwed up on purpose.
Im surprised that the 2006 console didnt have the red ring of death, i think that the 2010 console is worth opening up cleaning and changing the thermal paste and all controllers also worth cleaning, the battery packs usually you can clean them and they work
Yeah I was surprised as well that the 2006 didn't rrod lol. It was only a fairly recent dashboard so it's been played recently as well. It's like a unicorn console
Could very well have been repaired by MS and have the Opus board inside.
I was waiting for that RROD on the Xenon 360 too.
@@JeremyWray86 Yeah that warranty sticker isn't from 2005

I won an auction for a untested Xbox 360 from eBay for only $21 2 weeks ago (system only) I decided to deep clean it before testing it out (it was really dusty inside and the disc drive rubber band was sticky) and it works perfectly and even better I checked the plug on the console and it’s a jasper model (the ones that don’t red ring) what a steal
Love the 360 & PS3 era. Probably the last game console generation to collect for because anything newer (save Switch) requires downloading and or DRM.
Ps3 for me
Agreed
Wii u too
i like ps3 because i grew up with it but i still want an xbox 360 because the kids who play it are hilarious i like their trash talking
@@OfSpeed Get the 360 slim or 360e as these two variants won’t get the “red ring of death”.
Basic summary:
First console is on old 2011 Metro, second and third consoles are on Metro-R [2012-present]
First console is on 15574, first RGH 2.0 dashboard.
If i could choose between them i would definetely choose the jasper system, it's the most normal, functional disc tray, addons, however it's yellowed out and probably ate way too much dust. Just some cleaning in the hardware and shell and it feels like awesome
It certainly is satisfying watching these untested Goodwill Xbox 360 videos, you never know what type of things will be on them.
My Jasper (Resident Evil red console) died recently (after being stored for a while).
At first I thought the brick was broken (Red LED), but I had the same issue with a replacement. After opening the console I've noticed all 1500µF are leaking :(
Looks like I've found my first soldering project.
Noticed the image was stretched on the monitor. Go to system, display, and then find a widescreen option
I love Goodwill's electronic packing. Better than Amazon or GameStop, to be honest.
The most interest thing I bought from a thrift store was a keyboard for free
But another story, I got a GameCube(with jammed power and reset button) from a friend for $20
I still have my original Xbox 360 arcade. Only came with a 256 mb memory card when I got it in 2008 but I upgraded to a 250 gb hdd later on. And it still works perfectly today. I believe I still have the original box also.

You are lucky as hell that it didn't red ring
That's unlucky, my 2008 arcade console came with a 512MB memory card and I just remembered you couldn't play the Halo 3 campaign without a hard drive lol
“You can’t come back from RROD” dude, have you even managed one of these systems back in the day? Mine fully recovered and lasted until I got my xbone in 2013…..
7:41 Probably the closest we'll get to a face reveal 😂
yea, about that…
I remember my mom buying me one from GameStop and GTA 4 scraping up the money to get the hd from the pawnshop. Good times!
I've had a couple of eBay seller put shredded paper as packaging, it's really annoying! Mine was a sealed box, so I got it out fine but having it potentially stuck inside the controllers is unacceptable. Like what's wrong with some old newspapers or something?
Yeah, it's bad. I never leave eBay sellers bad feedback, but if I bought something from eBay and they used shredded paper like this, I think I would.
its actually pretty clever, saves resources
@@aldmyboi not for electronics and things that it can get stuck inside of.

This video reminds me of a 360 I got a few months ago from from a local thrift store. Was just checking the stores little mini hardware selection and happened to come across a pretty sad looking Xbox 360. It was a very early Jasper console from November 2008. Was missing the face plate and side vent covers, the case was also popped open and the warranty seals were removed, it was also covered in handmade stickers. Also Came with the power supply so I took the gamble and bought it for $10. I brought it home and dusted it out then hooked it up and surprisingly it booted right up. I did quickly find the reason as to why it was in pieces. Turns out it just had a stuck disk drive. So a quick drive belt replacement and a few new case pieces later I now use it as my everyday driver for when I wanna play some 360. A extra little interesting bit about it was that when I booted it up it was on the first rendition of the metro dashboard I did end up updating it just because the state of the console really meant it didn’t really have much value. Ended up being a pretty fun project though.
why the hell would you update it im pretty sure that there is softmods for earlier updated consoles
I have a 360 elite from 2009 that has a stuck disk drive but base 120gb her storagon the side(I lay it sideways)
@@graysid9769 I'm not much of a console modder myself. I typically just stick to the stock firmware. Sure I could've softmodded it. But personally, I'd rather want to do a PS3 HEN Jailbreak more then say JTAGing a 360. Plus I have two other 360s I could JTAG if I wanted to.
They ask for 68$ bucks for a dirty 360 near me
Nice! I got a late jasper (2009) 360 at a yard sale for $5, the thing worked fine but had a stuck disc drive... a little syringe of water on the belt later and... it worked perfectly!
Edit: It included an official 60GB HDD Too!
Can you do more “custom” modded console videos from eBay
I love Xbox 360 videos. Just feels so good. Thanks for uploading this :)
i was one time in a thrift store about 13 years ago where i bought my first 1080p flatscreen display and its still working today
Battery packs are pretty easy to fix. It's usually the metal contact on the side. That rectangle hole in the middle of the wording. It's there to prevent short circuit when not installed. Poke it with a small screwdriver and you'll see how it works. I take a little piece of foil from a chocolate bar and jam it in between the metal contacts.
Ah I do remember reading someone repairing them by doing something similar to you (sticking foil in that hole). Never knew that was there to prevent short circuiting though, thx for the info
I have a 360 from April 2006 that still works flawlessly that I bought off ebay a month ago, very surprising, but yes, they do exist.
Did I get a good deal?
Jacob can you make this special it’s a Xbox 360 slim black from eBay I grew up a lot with the slim I still play in 2021
Yeah
Yes sir
To the right buyer yes.
Yes
A little late but that is an aftermarket hard drive, for sure.
The silver sticker should have Microsoft hologram patterns in it, and the original capacity is always listed on the outside, I don't believe they ever just said "HDD". My Elite from 2008 says "120GB HDD" on it.
the 20gb ones did just say hdd on the outside, though im pretty sure thats not even a hard drive its literally just a shell for a hard drive
Uh, that battery pack on the controllers uses standard AA batteries, maybe you should have stocked up at the local Dollar store?
11:47 Oh trash they are... Sometimes when I have to change the batteries on my controller, I spend half an hour trying to get it to turn on.
And a fun fact: The newest xbox 360 dashboard update came out on November 12th 2019.
I think that the hard drive is actually legitimate. I had an older 360 with a 20GB hard drive and it looked just like that
Same..
Have you tried putting tinfoil in the batter pack? Works for me
Free WiFi (not a virus) 😂
“my dog craps in your yard”
I always dump my paper shredder bins contents into any packages I send too. Easy and convenient 👌
Man Ive been looking for a working Xbox 360 with the old Xenon motherboard. Always cool to have. I have an xbox 360 S right now with I believe the newer Trinity motherboard. Still runs strong.
with the battery pack fold aluminum foil with the conductive side out and put it under the batterys
Fairly certain that third console is an Opus, not a Xenon. I can't tell by looking at the power port in this video but look at the warranty sticker. That style wasn't being used in 2006.
Opus is quite a cool find.
I don't think it is an Opus because they appeared for a short time in 2008 and it will say service date instead of manufacture date.
I looked again it's 100% a Xenon because of the power connector.
I got a dreamcast from ebay a few weeks ago that was packed using shredded paper... Thankfully goodwill wraps the consoles with bubble wrap, my seller just chucked the console and controller in the paper so I had to disassemble everything to get the paper shreds out before I could even use it. Sellers who use shredded paper should be tarred and feathered!
Edit: That warranty sticker was only applied to consoles that were refurbished by microsoft. So that xenon is working because it's been refurbed by microsoft and should be as reliable as the jasper model.
Man I had good times on the 360. Also great video. 👍
Things to get the red ring of death on the new board.
1. USB
2. Xbox 360
Change the boot device to the usb and put no firmware device on usb and you have new board red ring of death

i bought 5 games at goodwill yesterday 1.99$/ea:
NBA 14 - xbox1
NBA 16 - Xbox1
L.A. Noire (only disc 1 :/) - xbox 360
Xbox magazine April 2004 disc # 30 - Xbox OG
and
limited edition sega gt 2002/JSRF - Xbox OG
There are some "falcon" that where renamed to "opus" without HDMI to replace xenon boards.
Yeah very good chance the 3rd console had the Opus board inside.
It's a Xenon 100% because of the power connector.
Instead of buying a new battery pack check if the battery pack pins are dirty from possible corrosion and use isopropyl alcohol to clean it up
Brilliant video!
Holy crap. I had no idea that later revisions had HDMI on it.
Well I learned something new, didn't know those battery holders on the controller could be the issue. Sold a broken chrome controller that probably only needed that! :(
Yeah, the battery packs are awful
Wow
Thanks for the memories!
One way to find out if the hard drive is real or fake is the fact that Xbox original games will not work on the Xbox 360 without an official hard drive. You’ll also need a specific Xbox 360 compatible Xbox original games which is around half the Xbox original library
Cool thing about that wireless adapter is you also need it for the slim model for wireless internet in most houses. Mine wouldn't pick up, but plug this in and it worked immediately. I asked a tech guy at Spectrum and he said the slim models have a wifi that can't pick up a signal for these newer internet signals most of us have. I was lucky enough to have kept mine because I didn't know that
The problem with the slim adapters is they struggle with AES encryption on WPA 2 secured wi-fi networks. If you use TKIP encryption for WPA2 it has a bit more stability but I wouldn't use anything less than AES at this point. Though WPA2 will probably be phased out in a couple of years as WPA3 becomes more mainstream in more affordable routers.
@@oOignignoktOo1all i see is gibberish
The second Xbox 360 at 5:35 might be the lesser known Tonasket model due to it's manufacture year being 2010. Tonasket was the final motherboard used on the original Xbox 360 consoles. Tonasket was first introduced in late 2009 (also the same time as the Kronos GPU) and used up until the release of the Xbox 360 Slim. Tonasket 360's are basically updated versions of Jasper motherboards, sometimes referred to as Jasper V2 by fans
I’m super shocked about that Xenon. I bought an 05 Xenon launch day console for $50 with the very first dashboard. I love it
Hi there, thanks for the video. Are Xbox 360 games still available to download on the games store?
Ah looking back at that Xenon, it’s red ringed before. That sticker is a MS repair sticker. It’s had the GPU replaced. Also heard the disc drive which is a newer drive found in Falcons and Jaspers (they put those drives in Xenons when they replaced GPUs within the 3 year warranty.)
Untested usually means "Tested but broken"

Goodwill is a good place for gaming stuff
I got my Wii for $25 or $30 and it works perfectly and I even moded it
My most interesting purchase from a thrift store is probably a GameCube in the box for 50€.
Have you ever gotten a Jasper motherboard Xbox 360 on blades or NXE?
Definitely clean out and replace the thermal paste on that Xenon
No surprise the 2010 works. That's a Kronos 512MB (aka Jasper BB) you're running there. I just got one today and it's looking nice, just needs a cleaning. Mine has white trim on the DVD - quite a nice touch to be honest.
I got mine from a chap selling some 360s he found in the basement. I've already talked to him and he agreed to ship over another Xenon and a Zephyr as well (since they weren't at the location he got the Jasper and a 08' Falcon I bought from). Fingers crossed that the Xenon and Zeph run Blades
I've bought quite a few games from Goodwill thru Amazon. Most have come in the original case with the manuals and the disc have been in great condition. I've been pretty surprised to be honest.
Goodwill sells stuff on Amazon?
@@jrob0021 yea. I've bought alot of GameCube and PS2 titles from them. They've all been in good condition and super cheap compared to other listings.
Yeah
I only have one working fat 360 but it won't read cds for some reason but it's better than when I found it when it couldn't read games at all
Tear them all apart, blow out all the dust and apply new thermal paste to CPU and GPU, soak the case plastics in the sink overnight in HOT water and dish soap, scrub away grime with a brush. Clean laser lenses with q-tip and alcohol, and replace drive belts, they're $4 for 10 belts on eBay. Check the large capacitors on the older boards for signs of bulging.
I remember the Xbox 360 hard drive was $200+ & the wireless router was $100!
9:22 Free Wifi (NOT A VIRUS) (but it's locked. lol) and my dog craps in your yard. lol
Coolest thing I got was ET for the Atari 2600. It was only $1 US.
my mom found a xbox 360 for 2 bucks in the box at goodwill lol its in amazing condition and works

what a great deal good job!
I have a faulty xbox 360 disc drive and I'm not sure how to fix it, so is there anyway to get a new disc drive for it?
That was a really good deal👍
I had a battery pack fail while the controller had batteries in it, i wasn’t using it when it did fail, fortunately, in my case i just thought “thats weird, why isn’t the controller turning on?”, tried replacing the batteries, nothing, so i tried swapping the battery pack from a different controller (i have 3 controllers), and the controller then worked
Wow
You have to test the keyboard in a COD lobby and see how fast you can type a salty message back to somebody. Until that test, it cannot be confirmed to be 100% working ;)
Hahaha
That hard drive isn’t fake though! I remember those being the first ones that came out they were 20gb
But the word Microsoft is nowhere to be seen even on that holographic stickier it’s just plain.
Edit: I have one and it definitely has Microsoft markings on it
The wifi network names 😂
The battery packs could be rusted and you just have to clean them
