The one time I visited Yellowstone Park, cars had slowed down to look at some bison when all of a sudden a guy and girl on a motorcycle drove right up to a bison standing near the road and they stopped!!! Smart dad raised a smart kiddo. You said that well. We can only hope the numbers (stupid) start to decrease but since 2015 or so, they have seemed to soar.
I have watched many videos of ppl ignoring the signs and the rules, I don't feel sorry for her. She was too close, and they won't charge unless you're too close.
They won't. That usually only happens with predatory species, and only in certain circumstances. For example, a woman, a conservationist planting trees in a remote area, was just attacked by a Grizzly in Canada, and officials have already said they will not pursue any action against the animal because of the circumstances.
The very worst disrespectful behaviors by humans towards animals I have ever seen have taken place at Yellowstone. It seems that it is a collecting point for these types of human encounters with wildlife.
I just don't get it. While I find animals in the wild as magnificent and fascinating as anyone else, I do not understand this almost pathological need to get up close and personal for a photo or video that could be similarly captured by using a telephoto lens on a camera, or even the very good zoom feature now built into most cell phone cameras. In fact; I was told I could take a fairly well- detailed photograph of the surface of the moon with my cell phone from approximately 238,900 MILES out..however; these people insist they must get closer than the recommended 25 YARDS (75 FEET!) to get a good shot of a bison??? Give me a break and STOP needlessly endangering the animals or the first responders who may need to rescue you from your own stupidity. Just stop it.
I was out on open range land in Nevada with my youngest daughter one time. We came across some range raised cattle. My daughter jumped out of the truck and was going to go "pet the cow". I raised my voice (yelled,...something I try not to do) and told her that these were range cattle and they had just calved a month ago. They could easily kill her. Bison are known for being even more wild in temperament.
One thing I learned, if an animal attacks you you're definitely too close for comfort to them. Be mindful and discipline of your actions. Earth is not only for humans.
Absolutely...and well-within the range of any camera or cell phone with a half decent zoom. No need to move in any closer. in fact, my cell can take a decent shot of the freakin' moon from 238,900 miles out but people insist on getting closer than 75 feet??? People must also realize that their actions not only put them at risk, but can also endanger the first responders who must rescue them.
My prayers go out to this lady for a complete recovery from her injuries. This is extremely scary when animals are attacking people. We humans have to remember that these bisons are wild animals, and they will kill you if they feel threatened.
Born an animal freak, when I was a kid, we traveled a lot because Dad was in the Army. Once, when in Arizona at a truck stop, to my delight, there was a bison in a round pen. The owner was feeding and watering the gorgeous beast and everyone admired him and went inside the shop. I hurried back out to look at the bison. Nobody was there. I stood on the side of the round pen and he walked over to me, sized me up. I was encouraging him to get near so I could pet him. He was so cute. As I leaned in to try to touch him, my other arm dangled on the inside of the fence. He was aware of that and slammed into my arm in a split second! My arm was smashed, but only superficially. I hurried up and got away from the area, writhing in pain, but glad to be alive. Nobody saw and I never told anyone for years, but as a horse owner and trainer today, I know that any livestock could do it to anybody. They would enjoy it and have fun doing it. And because of their size, you will probably get hurt and regret it later.
In the visitors centers they even play videos of people getting too close to bisons and them attacking cars and running towards people. This is to let people know the dangers of approaching these beautiful animals. I mean this is not the animals fault- we are actually in their territory! The signs are everywhere, people seem to think that it won’t happen to them. We have to respect their home. It’s a beautiful place but just respect it.
Bison : 1 Stupid tourist: 0 Don’t get out of your vehicle, don’t encroach on their space. Educate yourself about the wildlife you’re going to encounter and proceed accordingly. People blatantly ignore signs, warning and even the Park Rangers telling them to back off or leave the area.
Wildlife should be respected. Many times there is no repercussion against the animal because humans are to blame. If you walk into a bear with cubs, if you infringe on any animal's territory - bear the consequences (pun intended).
Park Officials instruct people over and over again to keep a safe distance from the wildlife. And over and over again we see the videos of idiots ignoring those instructions. Heck, there's even videos of these idiots taking "selfies" with wildlife they've been instructed to stay away from. Hope the woman recovers but it's not the bison's fault for acting like a bison...
People who do stupid things they usually end up hurt. I've seen people try to go up to the bison and get chased, she most likely got to close walking by. People need to remember they're in the Bison's territory/home and they are still wild animals, no matter how cute you think they are.
Unfortunately the animal is the one that pays the price and gets put down due to dumb human decisions by trying to get close to it all for a damn instagram photo.
I’ll say it if no one else will, this the most idiotic thing anyone can do. Especially when there are numerous warning signs all over the park. People need to use common sense when wildlife environment, especially when it’s mating season or when it’s birthing season. Many people seem to be getting injured by wildlife and by no fault of the wildlife but by people willingly not following the rules. Humanity needs to learn how responsible for their actions and realize that encroachment has limits. Make smart decisions.

I love seeing these videos. You get what you get. You f with a bull you get the horns
Memory of slaughtering their ancestors by the millions must have been passed on to the new generation. ☝🏾❤️🙏🏾
Only a women from AZ would get gored, fml
What
She was way too close to the bison, that's her stupidity
In the visitors centers they even play videos of people getting too close to bisons and them attacking cars and running towards people. This is to let people know the dangers of approaching these beautiful animals. I mean this is not the animals fault- we are actually in their territory! The signs are everywhere, people seem to think that it won’t happen to them. We have to respect their home. It’s a beautiful place but just respect it.
There’s More To This Story 🔥 She Did… Something
People don't listen until they get attacked!
She’s not the victim, the bison is, she should not approached it or taken that selfie!
Hope the bison is OK. Stay away; follow the park rules.
The buffalo was nicknamed "Big Al" - Al "Gore"
Bison are not cattle... and even in a herd setting a steer or cow may not be quite so friendly as Elsie at the farm. Leave the wild critters alone!
I am so sick of selfish people not respecting the wildlife. I hope the bison is okay!!!
People are so Stupid People do not respect them. Too many have been too close!!!!
MAYBE NEXT SHE WILL WANT A SELFIE WITH A RATTLER
She was in their vicinity and thought the Bison was her friend and she wanted to take a SELFIE 😭😭😭😭!!!!
She was walking away but got hurt in the chest and abdomen?? Riiiiight....
They need to fine the hell out of these people.
Sure, she was walking "away".....I bet that selfie was awesome!
I bet she was trying to get a selfy with it.keep up the good work bison
Are they going to put her down?
I wonder how they are going to connect this to racism.?
come on people these aren't your house pets!!! anybody who is attacked for there own stupidity deserves to be in a emergency room!!😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
The bison didn't attack , he felt threatened, his space was invaded. Protect the bison he was using his second amendment right.
Assuming pronouns lol. If it was a bull she would be dead
Hopefullly the bison is okay....
She obviously was too close to them. People that do stupid stuff have it coming.
She's not a "victim" and she was a Touron
She's more of a trespasser than a victim.
People gored in Pamplona-0
Yellowstone- 1
it happens every year. people need to remember that Yellowstone is not a reality show. don't mess with the wildlife people.
