- Romania’s past is hiding an ugly secret ! This Abandoned village is soon to be just a memory in the minds of the elderly as it slowly is consumed by toxic waste from the local mines!
The residents were sold a dream of relocation in new houses close to their old home, instead the community was ripped apart spread all over Romania and promises of compensation were just lies!

This started at around 2015-16 I think. The Danube of Geamana the village you see in all of this in Romania. It is waste from a nearby mine called Rosia Poieni. The chemical is copper waste and has cyanide in it as well as lord knows what! Its disgusting that not only has it effected the people and their homes. But it is effecting the wildlife and land with it as well. The effects of these are highly damaging to our earthly environment and is very serious.
It absolutely breaks my heart to see such destruction of nature like that, the views over the lake were stunning, its been ruining by uncaring greedy bigwigs, that should be illegal in this day and age
I’m sad that my childhood home is under a parking lot with a Walmart across the street, but this! This is just heartbreaking! The earth, the animals, the history and families. It must have been such a beautiful place to live.
This absolutely breaks my heart to see; especially to learn about the graveyard. But a huge well done for highlighting such a sensitive matter. I've liked the video because it's your hard work but I can only assume the few dislikes you have received are due to the disgusting matter your content highlights. They is a lake in the lake district Cumbria, which has a hidden village, this year with not much rain, the lake was very low/dry, you could see the village

There's one under Lake Vyrnwy in Wales. It was flooded to supply water to Liverpool.
There is one at Yelverton in Devon as well known as Burrator Reservoir. It's very popular with walkers and cyclists. When the levels are really low you can see some parts of the village.
💔 just heartbreaking. Just wondering, the few houses that are left there, how are they getting clean water to drink. It's shameful what was done to the people, the village, nature even the dead. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and take care

When another channel went here a few year's ago that lake was bright orange and some people that still live there were very unfriendly towards strange visitors. There are gravestones still there too, well metal crosses where graves are.
I remember that also. But cant recall which channel it was...

that area would be one of the best destinations going for astronomy...the surroundings, the lack of artificial light, everything (other than the sludge) would ordinarily anywhere else in the world make it a #1 tourist destination for such activities.
Heck, if they could make some tracks through the forest, I could see it being good for all sorts of things from hiking to mountain biking.
The locals could have been sitting on a potential goldmine of natural wealth!
stuff like this really makes my piss boil.
Who are the owners of the companies that are complicit with these types of activities!?

Loved this explore very interesting and informative, i just wish you were both back to your normal selves and know your absolutely loving it, trying to be in good form when your feeling shit is so hard and kudos to you both for trekking onwards and upwards. This is an amazing video. I especially love the drone footage. It would be interesting to see what it looked like to fill a bucket with that sludge just to see what it looked like not that you would really want to do it. One of those 2 little cottages that are just outside of the sludge in the orangey water part had a fire going in the fireplace. Smoke was coming out of the chimney. It can't be healthy them living there. So sad :(
The scariest thing is if you look up photo's of what the village was like on google, you'll see that that church is actually sitting on top of a hill, higher than all the other cottages in the village. And if you look through the photos you can see the water creeping higher and higher as the years go on. Unless they stop this the water is just going to keep rising until it bursts it's banks at some point....

It was so sad seeing that whole town covered up by sludge. However, the footage you got is quite brilliant. You all have been so determined even though you were so sick. Hod bless you all for all that you do just to show us such grand explores in Romania. You all are the best!!!

Just like you have in Derwent, we have a flooded village in the Chew Valley. We can see a spire when the water level goes down.

There is a town in NSW under water because of a hydro electric dam. It was recently uncovered because of drought.

But, how good would the drinking water would be around the lake and would not the dirt the gardens are growing be contaminated. Causing diseases and cancers.

in 1977 Nicoae Ceasusescu, arrived in Gearmana (Romania)....300 families were given a bit of compensation 2k pffft.......Rosia Poieni, The second - largest copper mine in Europe and emploees around 500 people. Nicolae Turdean is the general manager of the mine. There are pictures of the little church and the people on the boredpanda site.... there are 20 residents that reside there in the village. (info from a 2017 Article) This place WAS purfect.
That is criminal what they've done to the land there. All that sludge and greyness. Loved the drone footage. There is a hamlet under a lake near where I live. Such a tragic end to nature there. I love you two, you brighten my day xx
This episode made me cry. It is heartbreaking when corporations abuse Humanity, and our beautiful earth to this degree. No product warrants this horrendous activity. To all involved in this activity, may you come to your senses and clean this up. 🙏

Brilliant video as always,but I’m shocked and disgusted at how human beings treat this planet. You should send this video to the bigwigs at the COP conference in glasgow,! See what they would have to say, and how they would explain why this is happening in this day and age.
I've said it previously guys...you NEED to find a Romanian translator to have this series subtitled in Romanian.
If the folk of Romania can see what it is their leaders are doing along with the perspective of genuine down to earth foreigners, then, maybe, this series could be a force for good!
Try finding someone over there that you can trust that can speak English...let them know that the rest of the worlds common folk are on their side...well, at least a couple of folk from Doncaster 😅
