I don't believe it has anything to do with being close or not. More so not being co-dependent on the other sibling because that sibling will not always be there to have your back. Learning how to take up for yourself, especially if it's the type of sibling that has no regards to their well being or their sibling's well-being. I've seen brotherly love and heard about brotherly love; where one brother is reckless in their actions/behavior and wasn't mindful of the harm that can come involving the other sibling. Make an I'll advise decision that ultimately got their brother hurt badly or killed. All because the brother was unaware of what the other did that caused things to spill, when it didn't have to. That's a fool in my book and not wise at all. It's a great thing to have each other's back when needing one another. But it's totally different when a person is not being responsible enough when they're making poor decisions to bring others into play, especially if they are in the dark to a bad decision being made.
