thank you so much for this ❤ a huge green flag and much needed nowadays 🏳️⚧️
Love this, thank you!!
On the label it says that the flowers will show up better w knitting. Or a straight single crochet row.
Thank you!! Trans folks need all the support they can get right now 😢 🏳️⚧️ ❤
💚💚💚💚
I would enjoy crochet drama content. I really enjoy Aspen's videos and I hope they make more, but there's probably enough content for both of you!
And during this video, I was working on making panna cotta for my family's dessert tonight.😊
That Lovey turned out wayyyy cuter than I thought it was going to at first. I like how the stripe of the white portion connects with one of the ears, making it seem more intentional.
I was SO worried it was going to be straight up ugly but it came together in the end
oh my gosh I actually LOVE how the lovey came out!! Thanks for testing this yarn, I have been SO curious about it!!
I feel like that yarn would make a beautifully chaotic sweater or cardigan
I think it would work better for that. You would have to be okay with the chaos lol
The bunny turned out so cute! Glad you stuck with it. ❤
I have seen this yarn knitted, and it looks like flowers when worked up.
That’s what attracted me and I thought it could possibly work but not so much.
I wonder if another stitch would work better, like moss stitch or single crochet? @@Tfwcrochet
I've been watching your content more lately, and also missing the Made in the Moment yarn-world deep dives. I would love to see you make more content like that! I always enjoy your persepective and delivery.
This is ADORABLE! The color changes do give it a bit of a "boho" look but that's the charm❤. I love it! ❤❤❤
It really did come together in the end.
Knitter and crocheter here. The two types are extremely dif when it comes to how variegation works up. I’ve heard crochet uses more yarn than knitting and while I haven’t sat down to test this I have noticed that yarn doesn’t go as far as I’d think it would for crochet. Not sure it would make that level of difference bc it’s definitely a huge difference. Another issue with these pattern yarns is they often aren’t tested for or meant for a lot of patterns and if you do anything other than the suggested projects you can end up with wild results. All that said: that’s a super cute bunny!
I bought this yarn a few months ago and made a chunky shawl with it. The hank of it I had was very soft and almost had a vintage feel to it. I loved it so much I went and picked up the rose garden colorway of it.
i also love made in the moment!! I think Aspen is coming back but they are struggling with some health issues at the moment.
I would love for you to make videos about the crochet community! Whether its drama or just commentary about trends and stuff i would watch for sure!
I saw that. I hope they heal up soon!
Wow, that turned out cute!
Made in the Moment is a boss, but I feel like even they would agree that there is space for both of you to do deep dives on yarn drama. You do a great job on those videos. I especially love the way you can cover some silly thing people argue about in the fabric arts world and use it as a way to bring light to deeper issues in the community. (Currently making a sweater, btw)
Thank you so much for being so welcoming and inclusive! It truly makes me love this community and thank you for being so comforting! 🌷💖✨
Awh I’m so glad you enjoy my content and it makes you feel comforted. That means so much 🥹
I really love the face! Good job! It’s adorbs.
I absolutely love it. It almost looks like a patchwork lovey ❤
I wanted this yarn so badly because of the pattern on the skein. I looked up the pattern also and see that’s is exclusively going to show the pattern in knit. Still such a cute lovey! I found your channel through your crochet kit series but enjoy all your videos I am also an Aspen in the moment lover. I enjoy the talk through while I crochet with you.
I made forearm crutch cuff and handle covers out of this yarn and I love it! It's soft like blanket yarn but not as bulky so I can wear sweaters and coats comfortably in the cuff
I love the mix of videos so keep doing what you’re doing!
Thank you 🥹
I actually love how it turned out! I crocheted on a hexi cardigan while watching :)
I have been wanting to start another one so bad!
I actually bought this specific yarn and colorway to make myself a chaotic floral granny hexagon cardigan and so far one side of the one hexagon is mainly the teal and purple while the other side pooled all the white/green/pink sections in between some teal and purple and I love how its working up. I've also noticed on premiers site its mainly knitting patterns which shows off the pretty floral quite nicely and only 1 crocheted throw which shows the fact its gonna work up differently with the quick varigation of the yarn.
That sounds so fun!
I crochet and knit. The sample blanket using yarn management to control the pattern used. Loved your toy. Your niece will love it. Love your videos.😊
Glad you’re enjoying them 🥹 that does seem to be the consensus about the sample.
I crocheted a Mabel chicken... Adorable.😊 Glad someone else had the same idea. I sized down my hook. I don't like plastic Clover hooks, also. i Believe you needed a larger hook size for the blanket part.
It's amazing and beautiful.
I’m working on a hooded sweater for my son. It’s working up fairly fast because it’s moss stitch. Cute lovey! It’s little face is so sweet.
I have been wanting to make a hooded sweater! Sounds so nice in a moss stitch.
Made a Bloom bunny using worsted Gerbera years ago. It was fun to work with and absolutely adorable. Bloom Chunky looks so cute! Never thought to use chunky but now am thinking I would like to try this with Baby's Breath or Violet.
So far I've only been able to get these at my local yarn store or Amazon, but KnitPro has BEAUTIFUL crochet hooks with bigger sizes that are metal. So smooth and I love them. I also used that exact colorway of the Premier Big Chunky. The idea is to get a flower stripe, but I agree, doesn't really work in crochet. I'm using it to make a hexagon cardigan. I wanted to see the difference in making it with a yarn that is definitely a chunky yarn.
Oh, if you want a pretty premier yarn that is also INCREDIBLY soft, try the bamboo chunky. It's one I love and can't get enough of.
The bamboo chunky is lovely!!
Ooooo thanks for the recommendations!!
@@daschuhow It is. I'm using it on a sweater right now and I LOVE how it's turning out.
@@Tfwcrochet You're welcome.
I love how the bunny looks like it’s wearing a flower crown!
Awh I didn’t think of that. How sweet.
I love Bloom chunky yarn. It makes beautiful knitted hats and loom knit scarves. Making a lovey is on my list for this year, and think will use the bloom for the blanket, but a solid for the head 😊.
There are more than 4 colorways on the premier website. The "big" refers to the size of the skein which is 200 grams. The smaller size is 100 grams and comes in like 16 colorways. I'm a big fan of this yarn, but I do think the planned pooling looks better in knitting than crochet.
Hi. I loved how the lovey came out.❤ While watching your video, I am making a granny square scarf. 😊
Loved the video you did beautifully!!! Looks so good! I was sewing tires on a car I made while watching! Ty for the distraction haha 😂
I just bought this style of yarn and was so curious how it would work up! Thanks for being a pioneer for me!
I think the bunny is super cute! And I love the colors.
Love it!😍
Oh I finished my chunky sweater 😊
It gives me a patchwork vibe. It’s cute!
I knit and crochet and variegated yarn definitely works up differently. Knitting uses less yarn so the color changes go longer. But I bet for that sample picture, they used multiple skeins to get it to look how they wanted.
Also, I'd love any sort of deep dives, the hobbydrama subreddit is a good place for stories. Or doing crochet projects found in TV shows or movies. I like when you do the craft kits, or seeing people try new techniques or hacks. I also like when people try to do vintage crochet patterns.
P.s that turned out quite cute! I was a little worried at first but it's so bright and fun
Great ideas!! I have been wanting to see if I could find some vintage crochet amigurumi patterns.
The lovey is super sweet! I am currently crocheting an easy blanket with bulky yarn from Hobbii, just rounds in different colours to relax myself.
That sounds so nice!
The lovey turned out cute! As for the knitted blanket, I think that was made in 4 triangular panels and I also thing they fanangled the yarn to get those perfect stripes. For the deep dives I would love to hear your takes!
Trusting the process worked out. The bunny is gorgeous!
Also I love you headband!!
Thank you!!
Knitting certainly "eats" the yarn slower. I would love to see the other yarns of this collection,. I think it would be a great choice for when (if) you decide to try to start knitting ^^
Currently working on a baby blanket and a shawl for a friend. Thank you for reviewing this yarn.
For metal hooks- I use knitpro waves hooks, which are all metal (even up to like 15mm!) they feel very similar to clover in my opinion 😅 I'm from the UK, so I don't know if they're available in the US 😅
You’re the second one to mention those. I need to look those up
Hook recommendation - I apologise if you can't get them in the states as I live in England but sirdar hooks are VERY similar to clover hooks. They are ergonomic and all sizes are metal. I think their smallest size is 2mm and largest is 10mm. I also saw someone recommend susan bates they are lovely hooks! They are hard to get in the UK though so I only have a few. I do find though if I use them too long I do get hand pain. I hope this helps 😊
Ooo I’ll have to look that up. Thank you!
Omg that bunny is so cute! I love Aspen’s videos from both their channels - I feel like one would have to have a strong stomach to film and publish some of those drama ones 😅 I like your general videos like about Etsy and your first year on RUclips. I also don’t make amigurumi but watch all your videos so… I think it’s just fun listening to you talk about yarn generally ☺️
The Etsy videos and the no sew drama are the types of videos I like to make because they are big problems that I feel need to be addressed.
The Hobbii hooks are very similar to the clover. They go up to 8mm and they're metal.
The lovey turned out so beautiful. 😍
I haven’t ever looked at the books from Hobbii but I have been thinking of doing another order from them soon
@Tfwcrochet correction: they go up higher than 8mm but the set I have does only go up to 8mm. And since I usually never use thicker yarns I wouldn't need them.
The lovey is sooo cute and fun !
I was working on a Tunisian crochet Honeycomb stitch area rug from my wip bin 😊
I made a beanie for my niece with his yarn, and I really liked working with it and the beanie turned out. Super cute.
I was working on a pillow cover for the "universe" of a doll that I made. Now sure what I want to do with it all other than film the process and the development, but I might give it to my niece later ;-)
I loved how the bunny snuggle turned out in the end, - cute...
That sounds interesting!
I love my Susan Bates in line hooks. I was working with the soft grip and they were the best. Until I found the hooks with bamboo handles. They are shorter and I have small hands so the balance seems nicer for me
I wish I liked inline hooks for Ami 😭
I'm finishing up a chunky Hoodie. Great video. I was wanting to try the bloom. If I can find it at a good price I'll probably still try it. Have a great day
Great video, it's always useful to see the yarn worked up into a project. At the moment I'm working on a simple granny square lap blanket using super chunky Navy yarn from Aldi, from their yarn day this week.
I have been seeing mixed things so I’m curious- is it only other countries that have yarn at Aldi? Because I’ve never seen any here in the US
@@Tfwcrochet I'm not sure, I'm in Scotland and my daughter found out about the Yarn day so was down early to check it out. It seems like it is only a couple of times a year. Hope it happens in the US some day too.
I actually kind of love it.
Knitter here! I call shenanigans on the stripes in the blanket on the packaging. Even if knitted in 4 quadrants and seamed together, the stripes in the center would be wider than they are to have enough yardage to have those long stripes near the edges.
I’m one that has reached a point where I’ve lost patience with drama long ago. You can make those type of videos, I just won’t watch those. I eventually watched the last one that you did after it was presented to me something like 10 times, but I didn’t finish it because I had no idea what was going on and I was bored by the subject matter. (However, while I can crochet, I identify as a knitter, so take that with a grain of salt.)
I love your videos in general, so I’ll always be back for the non-drama videos.
While watching today’s video, I was working on a pair of fingerless mitts based on the genres of the books I read last year.
Yeah it seems like they maybe deconstructed the yarn so the stripes would be how they wanted? I’m not sure.
I hear you on the drama. I know it’s not for everyone. This type of content will always be my bread and butter as it were.
I found your Channel when you gave your perspective on some drama that Aspen talked about as well. I think it covered copyright topics? So I love to have your perspective on things as well as yarn tests (even though I mostly use different yarn here in Germany) and your opinion on patterns. I have ADHD and love to listen/ watch while crocheting so hands and brain are busy. Much love!
I do appreciate seeing a variegated yarn worked up so I can get an idea of how it may look. I don't believe the pattern for knitted is just worked up so simply. It seems more likely they took apart the skein, cutting out the changes to suit their needs. Chaotic is a perfect word for most variegated yarns, unless it's long and predictable changes (like the Granny Square yarn from Red Heart as an example). I think it would look better with more of the white with pink and white with green sections, and less of the teal and purple. It's not to my taste, personally, and I don't see me having a need for it, but as for a gift for a child, it would be perfect. Bright and fun colors.
I made a crochet baby blanket with this yarn. It worked up nicely and the stitch definition was great.
I do love the stitch definition. I bet it would look better in rows.
I actually like the drama videos if not only for the discussions that the comments usually have, Aspen's videos also have this element to them which I like, and I don't think you ever come across as snarky in your videos you're relatable and nice.
This project turned out so cute!
I've been seeing so many variegated yarn knit patterns that I have considered practicing again I was working on a pattern by the Twisted Hatter her Twisted Toadstool pattern.
I’m glad I don come across as snarky in those videos. I never want to be rude or superior so I’m glad it doesn’t come across that way.
I bought this in chunky and made a poncho for my granddaughter and even though it didnt produce the pattern it still came out cute because I thought the colors were beautiful!
SO CUTE!
I have use two different ones, chenille and chunky, loved both. I found them easy to work with and the patterns that came were awesome.
That yarn is really pretty! One of my biggest pet peeves with the crochet community is when someone puts out tester call and then always picks the same people to test for them. I feel like if we don't have a large following, then we never get chosen for a test. I've been crocheting for decades but because I don't have a huge IG I never get chosen, so I just stopped bothering to apply. The big ones are making the rest of us invisible...so why even bother to apply?
I talked about this a little in my pet peeves video. It’s hard because I don’t care about that stuff but then I don’t get anyone applying to my tester calls
@@Tfwcrochetmaybe you could post about a pattern test call on RUclips? Or post where to find the applications on RUclips? I want to apply for pattern tests because I know it could be fun, but RUclips (and occasionally facebook) are the only social media I use so I dont see most pattern tests calls unfortunately
I am getting ready to do a tester call for my first crochet amigurumi pattern. I will keep your name, and when I am looking for testers, I will message you on Instagram, and if you can and are interested, I would love to have you. I would like a few testers with large followings, but mostly, I want testers like you and I. People who never get picked. We should have a chance to show what we can do too.
What’s your ig handle?
I used this yarn to make a basket and the variations lined up almost perfectly. The was very pretty. I personally did not think this was a good choice for amigarumi.
No it didn’t work out how I wanted 😭
I loved this video, and I have so many thoughts! One - as a crocheter and knitter, yes, they produce different results, but not to this degree. To create the effect that was shown in the patten photo, each skein would have to have progressively larger sections of each colour as you got bigger on the blanket, and that's just not something they could predict. I feel like whoever made the sample had skeins of each colour in the variegation and alternated them accordingly.
Second - I'd love to see you do some more drama videos! I love the deep dives that Aspen does, and I'd be interested to see your takes on them. I love your opinions and your videos in general, so it'd be great to see you do those on occasion.
Third - your lovey turned out super cute, despite the drawbacks of the yarn! I hope it's something your niece can treasure for years to come!
Thank you for sharing all your thoughts. It seems to be the consensus they did some finagling to get their blanket to look like that. Disappointing.
i think the Lovey turned out SUPER cute even though its chaotic. I've been kinda on the fence about trying this yarn, and getting to see how it looks on your project has made me decide to try it for one of my sweaters
Yay! Thats why I make these videos. Even if a yarn isn’t my fave I know it’ll be for someone.
Hi, I think your bunny lovey turned out to be very cute. Did you decide to gift it to your niece? I love Aspen's videos. They are very funny and insightful in their analysis of different craft related topics. You should try that kind of video. I enjoy learning new things and hearing different perspectives. I would definitely watch 😊
I will be gifting it to my baby niece the next time I see her!
With that kind of yarn the pattern will work up differently based on the stitch you used. In reference to the blanket; If you used a sc, the color would work out better-ish, this is something I've learned by doing a swatch ( uncut swatch ). I'm sitting her working on a cowl 😉
I found you from your book follow along and crochet. I immediately binged your content and am now subscribed. I love all your content!
Thank you 🥹
A market bag in multicolor purple and white.
And I only have a few more rows left!
Yay!
Thanks...i was thinking of making a crochet bear...i also was impressed with knitted pictures and the way this yarn patterened...On to the next projects. Just finished 2 seahorses for Stringy Ding Ding pattern books, i was tired of the bigger more difficult patterns and needed a break to something more simple and fast!
I love stringy ding ding!
OH NO i hate to hear that about made in the moment i hope they're able to recover well! thank u for posting that update cos i also watch them but most people i'm sub'd to take quite some time to put videos out so i don't check on every one all the time. i had noticed they hadn't updated in some time tho.
I hope they heal up soon too 💔
There are gold clover hooks that maintain the same metal hooks in larger sizes. The handles are slightly different but still the same clover glide
Ooo I’ll look those up
thw colors are very cute! im 10 and i crocheted a bear lovey for my nephew on the way. I hope he likes it.
ps I love your slouchy beanie
Thank you!!!
@@Tfwcrochet 😍
Any of your videos are fun. Hot takes are always interesting! Nice starting my Sunday morning with your video! I made a lovey that was a pattern with hooks and needles kit. It turned out really cute and seeing yours made me think I should do another one! Have a good day!
You’re too kind! I LOVE making loveys. It really is the best of both worlds of making a blanket and a plushie!
I wonder how that yarn would knit up. Your bunny still turned out adorable! I'm making tiny gnomes - my mom wants to hide a few in her twin sister's house to cause mischief. 😂
That is so funny!
For larger metal hooks, I use the Susan Bates Silvalume hooks (the ones with the ergonomic handles), but they don't have the same head as the clovers. They are a true inline, where the clovers are a hybrid. I also prefer metal hooks, but I really don't like the heavily tapered Boye style hooks which are far more common in the larger aluminum hooks than the Bates or hybrid style heads. It's really hard to find large metal hooks without the Boye style heads!
I love this yarn. Mary Maxim had a pattern that introduced me to the Bloom yarn. I’ve made 11 of them so far. It’s a little 36” x 38” (ish) throw. Super soft, simple, quick.
Is it just worked in rows? I feel like that would probably work better for this yarn.
I liked the finished project, but getting there would have driven me nuts as well.
I am working on my Celtic Song scarf in Yarn Bee Secret Soft, color pink. I love the softness of the yarn but it is highly filled with static cling (hate that).
My last scarf was Celtic Song in I Love This Yarn in color black marble - but it looked like a zebra print to me (not in any cute way). So I frogged back and added a strand of Caron Simply Soft in color black. OMG the resulting pattern was gorgeous! ❤ Of course the added strand of yarn gave it a bulky weight - so def a Winter scarf. ❤
I've used the dk weight of the bloom yarn to make a hat and the color change between the different shades of blue, save for the part that was supposed to look like flowers once it was worked up, was a lot more gradual and more of a gradient, but that might just have been that specific colorway (iirc it was called morning glory)
Having not looked up the pattern, but based on how the striped worked up. I would guess its knit in four sections then seamed together. You get a back and forth over each color that way.
I think it turned out cute! I’m working on getting over a cold 😅
Oh no! Feel better soon. My whole family has had the flu this last couple weeks. It’s exhausting!
I was working on a Mabel the Chicken, but with worsted weight cotton yarn so it is tiny 🐔
Awhhh so cute!
I was looking at this yarn today. Just don’t know what to do with it. Lovey is adorable ❤There’s more knitting patterns are on yarn bands than crochet patterns. I was working on Valentine’s coasters
I am scraping the bottom of the bag for Scrap Bag 10...only small balls of yarn left... so i am making tiny projects, like the Baby Whale from AllFromJade. In worsted weight, they're only about 2" but oh, so cute!
Great video. I'm working on circular coaster to give as a present.
I will say having started to knit *first* before Crochet, it does infact change the look quite a bit. With knitting you are working with alteranting sides. Pearls are backwards while Knit are fowards, so that's why you can see a vastly difference between the front and back sides of knitting while with Crochet i've been noticing it's pretty similar to both sides of the thing you are knitting and crocheting. You are also looping differently and you don't have a "chain" like you do with Crochet. You also can drop stitches a bit easier if you're not careful but you are also flipping it more often every row instead of every other row. So you have to remember if you're pearling or knitting on the next row which gives you different patterns.
I can see that causing a huge difference in the way the yarn is patterned because there is no "chain" that takes up more of the yarn. I've been noticing I'm going though yarn so much faster while I'm crocheting then I am with knitting.
It's probably knitted in 4 triangles. You could achieve similar in crochet with 4 sc triangles. The lovely looks fantastic.
I think you are right, the colour gradient doesn't fit in the corners.
That makes SO much more sense. Thank you. I don’t know enough about knitting to know how it works
I was working on my own pattern for a can tap flower hair clips (my first pattern that I'm proud of) and I could use tips on writing it out
Oh my did that turn out a lot cuter than I thought it would. I’ve never used that yarn before. Thank you for a wonderful video once again!!! Also love your headband!! What pattern did you use?
On the blog My Poppet Makes it’s called Colour Block Headband
for an alternative tithe bigger sized clover hooks, I like the susan bates hooks with the ergonomic bamboo handles, they're a little more pointy than the clover hooks but they slide really nicely!
I wished I liked the inline hooks but I don’t for amigurumi. I don’t mind them for other things but when pulling my stitches tight I don’t prefer them. But they are really smooth hooks!
I know you said you don't like plastic hooks but if you want a good set of large size hooks to have on hand for not a ton of money I really recommend the Prym brand. On Amazon they come in a set of 5 hooks from 7mm to size O for only $21. I've liked them a lot. Not sponsored lol.
The prym hooks seem so divisive. Some people love them and some people hate them!
The bunny is adorable I'm making a tooterphant with the Bloom floral light 3 I love it it's very soft I don't think they make it anymore 😔
I have a couple of skeins of color changing blanket and I still don't know what to make with it. But side note, agree that the 'copying' patterns topic is popcorn worthy for me. I got into a rabbit hole about it when the recent dragon drama came out (I briefly touched on it in one of my videos as being eye opening but I didn't go beyond that. Some very sensitive egos around it!
It’s hard because there are so many different levels to it. Some people are just being sensitive but others truly do get their patterns stolen. It’s big topic!
@@Tfwcrochet Agree! Though I saw a Thread today of someone saying 'this person created a snake pattern and now everyone else is jumping on the bandwagon.' It's so uninformed. Not everyone follows the one person and not everyone wants to do the exact same version of a snake. Also, year of the snake? Life would be pretty boring with one flavor of ice cream!
I bought a large metal hook without a rubber handle and then added a handle with elastic plaster, genuinely the best hook handle I've had. Very comfy aand works great
Interesting! What kind of hook? I’m so particular about hooks.
@@Tfwcrochet It's from the brand Elle. It's really just the basic aluminium hook that I added an ergonomic handle to
@Tfwcrochet find a metal hook you like & you can make a handle with polymer clay if you want just a thick handle. Or add foam (like a beauty blender) if you want soft.
Personally, I like the boye style heads, so I do all metal ones like that.
Yes, if you knit the bloom knitted does look like the picture.
The white with pink followed by green is supposed to mimic flowers.
I actually like the Boye ergonomic hooks at Walmart. The larger sizes still have metal hooks.
Boye used to be my go to but I just don’t find them as smooth anymore after using clover
@ oh, I agree that they’re not as smooth as Clover. I just thought it would be worth it for the larger sizes to still be metal.
I was working on my first scrumble while watching.
I'm working on Girl Scout cookie headbands as I watched this. I'm kind of curious about this yarn now, simply because I like variegated yarns and I mostly work in single crochet rows, or in the round.
The sample blanket was cut and and pasted together. They controlled the colors.
