- Grand port is full of interesting things. The site of the Dutch first landing in Mauritius, The Dutch fort (Frederick Hendrick fort and museum) which was built on by the French. Ferney nature conservation and the oldest sugar mill in Mauritius. The introduction of deer and sugar cane monuments are also here and don't forget the lion (well, it's a mountain). What a great way to spend my birthday. Jump points to follow.
I’m British and live in the Uk with Mauritian roots. Been to Mauritius so many times but never knew about many of the places you have shown us. Thanks this is great and Happy Birthday !
Thanks, and we are happy to do the exploring.
I was born in Ferney and now live in London. I am moved with this video. We used to walk (2 minutes from where I lived) to the monument First Dutch Landed mostly everyday. We would sit there and eat salads mangue/concombre et bilinbi. Thanks Bryan for sharing and happy birthday to you. I can't wait to go there.
Nice, I'm glad I could give you a memory, Thanks for the great comment.

Very good poster!
I love it.
Interesting day at Grand Port
I enjoyed it
Watching your programme on Mauritius in the United Kingdom and I we have decided to visit Mauritius this year. Hopefully the government will reopen the border for the tourists without having to quarantine.
Happy birthday Bryan. Love your artwork Riki. A lot of interesting information interspersed with fun humour of the interactions between you and Riki. Mauritius comes alive in your videos, thanks so much guys. One of your videos had a map showing us where the place was located that you were visiting. FIY that was very cool rather than checking Google map later :)
Thank you so much 😀 I have a plan for the map thing, will keep you updated.
Everywhere in Mauritius looks very green, clean and quiet. Where are the people? Lovely place 👍❤️
There really are people, one of the most populated countries in the world, but somehow we miss them.
@@BryanDiscoversWorld happy birthday to you.
The paradise Island of Mauritius have imported 80,000 foreign workers from Asia (Bangladesh.) Now I can understand why the population of Mauritius is high.
@Nawshad Mohoboob Some of the Bangladeshi have obtained permanent residence on the Island of Mauritius. When their contract ends ,most of them will refuse to return back to poverty stricken Bangladesh, Madagascar etc. This is what happens, when a government wants to recruit cheap workforce. I am so glad the United Kingdom have left the European Union, and it will definitely make it difficult for the Easter European to take employment and bringing organised crime in to Great Britain.
@Nawshad Mohoboob . Do you realise that how most ancestors of Mauritius can to Mauritius . Never heard of indentured labourers who did not return back to their homeland .
Happy birthday
Thank you.
Happy birthday Byan!
Thanks you
I don't know how I missed this video. Happy Belated Birthday!
Thank you!!
Am late but happy birthday sir 💙
Thanks
Happy birthday Bryan. At 1:43 it could be an old lime kiln. Water towers are rare in Mauritius as there is abundant flowing water throughout the year. There are many of these old lime kilns dotting the coast a few feets from the shore. This place is called Ferney at the mouth of the rivière Champagne. I grew up about 3 Km south of there :) Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for that, now you mention it, it looks like the lime kiln we found in Poste da Flacq. I should have noticed, Thanks for the great comment.
Ferney is a beautiful area.
happy birthday, and best wishes for the year 2021.🎂

Hello Bryan
Demystify the pyramids of Mauritius...Situated amids sugar cane field...in the southern part of the island...not too far from the local airport..
I really want to explore them, but I need a drone first. The original name of the area was Plains de Mayan
@@BryanDiscoversWorld oh! Wow
Apparently Gibraltar has similar structures...
Tks
Please visit Grand Bassin and Petrin as well. They are beautiful places in the South
